The steady pitter patter of rain against the window and the gentle rocking of the car above the less than perfectly paved street was enough to lull Kibum back to sleep. The previous night was another sleepless night filled with nightmares that he would rather have forgotten courtesy of one deranged stepfather. All too soon, a hand on Kibum’s shoulder tenderly shook him bringing him back into the realm of consciousness.

"We have arrived at your destination sir," The driver announced.

“Ah, yes. Thank you.”  Kibum slurred his voice groggy from sleep.

The warm summer breeze combined with the damp humid air the rain had left created a sort of cocoon enveloping Kibum as he stepped onto the sidewalk and under his umbrella. Looking up at the apartment where he had unknowingly spent the last night, the full realization of what Kibum was doing finally doing hit him. By acting on solely on a whim Kibum had asked a complete stranger to stay by his side throughout the day, he knew next to nothing about Jonghyun yet he was entrusting his safety in him. Much to his surprise Jonghyun had called back accepting the offer and now there was no turning back.

Kibum put his hand to the brushed stainless steel knob, and his hand left sweat marks where his fingers gripped it. It seemed that he was even more nervous than he had thought.

He pushed down and away, and the door swung open with a slight creak the rain thickened air sweeping into the building. Stepping in he found that lobby was empty save for a lady at the front desk chirping away on the phone her voice the only sound resounding in the foyer. Locating the elevator, Kibum made him way though the lobby his feet squeaking against the pale marble floor,

All too soon Kibum was on the 7^th floor face to face at Jonghyun’s apartment door his fist in mid air, ready to knock.
