“Dong Yeon…”

“Did you find his secret…?”

“Yes…”

“Tell me… now… no excuses….”

“He’s a…..He’s a…..hermaphrodite…”

“What…is that…?”

“A person with both gender parts…”

“Eww….but this is just what I need…to ruin Joon….”

I could hear Dong Yeon laughing gleefully.

“You will receive the cheque tomorrow by mail…bye…”

‘Joon...I’m so…sorry…’

I began to cry.

‘I’m soo sorry….please forgive me…..’

I went to the café and I saw everyone working there.

I saw Joon but he looked the other way when I saw him.

I felt so guilty.

“Welcome…cutie….what do you want to order…?”Soohyun said

“I would like a green tea latte please….”

“Coming right up!” Soo Hyun said.

I sat down at one of Hoon’s table.

“Why are you sitting here today…? You sit in Joon’s area…” Hoon asked.

“I just felt like sitting here today….”

He nodded and left.

I looked at Joon one more time.

I drank my green tea latte and left the café.

‘I couldn’t say anything to him….’

Joon POV

‘Sunny….’

I shook my head and I thought about what Eli said.

‘Unforgettable eyes…?’

‘Was he the guy…’

Today was my birthday but Dong Yeon purposely held a party on this day to invite everyone at school to come to her party.

‘Because of her I couldn’t receive even one present…’

(This is when Joon is 8 and Eli is 9)

“Hey…are you okay….?”

I was crying a bit.

“I’m fine…”

“Here….”

The guy handed me a dice with a hole in it.

“What’s this…?”

He then pulled out a string from his pocket and put it through the hole and made it into a necklace.

“Here…you’re present to make you happy…”

“How did you know….?”

“I heard you muttering…keep that present…it’s important to me….”

“Thanks….”

‘Oh no!! I don’t want Eli to know…..’

I walked up to Eli.

“Hi…”

“Hi…”

“Did you hear anything from anyone yesterday….?”

“Hear what…?”

“N-Never mind…”

I ran off.

Kiseop POV

‘Why is Kevin so pissed lately…’

I walked outside and saw Kevin standing outside.

“Kevin!”

He turned glared at me.

“Can you tell me what’s going on….do you hate me or something or are you jealous…oh…do you like Shin Woo….? But I love her and everything so-“

“Shut up!” Kevin shouted at me.

‘He’s never shouted before….’

“I like you okay…it makes we want to die every time you talk about loving her….just leave me alone…I will forget you one day….” Kevin said. I could see tears welling up in his eyes.

‘He…likes…me……KEVIN’S GAY?!?!?!?!’

“Kiseop!”

I turned around and saw Shin Woo.

“Now do you realise….I love you but shouldn’t you kind of…you know…get along with Kevin…you can’t leave him all by himself…his thoughts will kill him….this is the only time I am every allowing my boyfriend to do this so go hug him and calm him down and talk things through….”

I nodded and ran after Kevin.

“Kevin!”

I shouted as I caught up with him.

 “Kevin…”

I grabbed his wrist.

“Calm down…”

A couple of minutes later we were back to normal.

“Kevin you know how I’m dating Shin Woo…I like her and I’m sorry but I have never seen as someone more than a friend….”

Kevin smiled.

“It’s okay…it’s not your fault…”

“Can you just do one thing for me….?”

“What is it…?”

“Can I have a finally hug from you….then afterwards I think I can go back to being your friend….”

“Sure….”

I hugged Kevin.

Kevin POV

‘This is it…the final hug from Kiseop…let him be happy…let’s give up….that way I will be happy and he will be happy….’

Eli POV

Everyone began to leave.

Kiseop and Shin Woo left and Kevin and DongHo left early for a drink and Hoon and Soo Hyun left for meetings. I was left with Joon alone.

‘Why is my heart beating so fast…is it because I feel sorry for him….?’

‘I hope he remembers me being his friend twice in his childhood…I mean…ARGG! I don’t know what I’m talking about….’

“Well!! I’ll be going then….”

Joon left.

I went into the Kitchen to clean up.

I went in and saw Dong Yeon standing there.

“Hi Oppa…”

“What do you want….?”

“To set things right….”

“What are you talking about..?”

“I know something about Joon that you don’t know…”

“So…?”

“You hired someone you don’t even know…doesn’t that worry you…?”

“I do know him…”

“From where…?”

“It’s complicated…”

“What are we on facebook…?”

“Just leave…”

“Joon’s a hermaphrodite….he has both genders…he isn’t a he or a she he’s….an it…you have been liking a thing…that doesn’t even have a proper gender….”

“S-Stop lying….”

She handed me a file of papers.

“These are Joon’s medical records…see he’s a hermaphrodite…stop liking that weird thing and date me and like an attractive normal human being like me….”

“I don’t like you….”

“Then Joon do you like…..Do you…. Do You…..?!”
“I don’t like Joon!! I don’t like a weird person like him!”

I heard something fall from behind me.

I tried to turn around but Dong Yeon kissed me.

“Then you have no reason not to like me…..”

She smirked.

 

Joon POV

‘I knew….he never liked me…both those times…it was just sympathy…’

I wiped the tears falling from eyes.

I was walking home.

“Oh…I left my phone at the café…I better run…before Eli leaves the shop…”

“Yes! The lights are still on!”

I pushed the door open and saw my phone on the counter.

‘There it is!’

“I don’t like you….”

‘Isn’t that Eli…?’

“Do you like Joon…Do you…Do You?!”
‘Eli…does he like me….?’

“I don’t like Joon!! I don’t like a weird person like him!”

Those few words pierced my heart.

I bumped into the counter and knocked over the display container.

I ran out the door.

I arrived home.

“Shin Woo I’m home!”

I walked into her room she was sleeping.

I smiled.

“Shin Woo I’m going to miss you….”

I closed her door.

I sat at the table in the living room.

I turned my phone on.

‘Oh this is Eli’s phone….’

I began to cry again.

‘I’m going to leave…I’m not going to be able to return it….’

I grabbed my phone.

“Appa…”

“Joon…have you decided….?”

“Yes appa…I will go to America for the operation…”

“Good choice my child…..I don’t want you to suffer any longer….”

“Bye appa see you soon….”

I hung up.

I just started at Eli’s phone.

‘I never got to say good bye….’

~~~~~ The next day ~~~~~~

Eli POV

I was at the shop and Dong Yeon was here.

Hoon and Soohyun, Kevin and DongHo were doing their own thing.

“Don’t stop me…”

“Please Shin Woo calm down…”

I heard Kiseop and Shin woo arguing outside.

Shin Woo pushed the door open harshly and glared at me.

“Your late today….where’s Joon…?”

She just came up to me and punched me in the face.

She sat on top of me and looked like she was going to hit me again.

“A guy like you aren’t worth my punch…”

“What’s your problem…?!”

“WHAT’ YOUR PROBLEM?!?!?! How could you say that about Joon saying you can’t like someone because of their identity?!?!?!  Just because Joon is a hermaphrodite…”
Shin Woo shook her head at Eli.

She then charged at Dong Yeon.

She then slapped her in the face so hard that Her left cheek turned bright red.

“!! How can you do that to your own cousin…?”

Everyone in the café began to murmur.

The customers left the café.

She then turned around and glared at me.

“Joon left because of you…”

She then chucked a phone at me.

“It’s your phone….Joon wrote a letter and asked if I could return this to you….”

“I hope you happy….”

She then stormed out of the café.

~~~~ 10 minutes later ~~~~~

‘He left…..’

I sighed before unlocking my phone.

There was a voice message recorded on my voice recorder.

I pressed it to listen to it.

“Hi Eli…I am just going to say everything on my mind…

I liked you a lot okay…

I remembered the time we met when we were children…I started liking you when I began to work at a café…

I was deciding which gendered person should I become…and then I met you…you helped me chose...

I hope live happily with Dong Yeon…don’t make her cry…okay…..

I’m leaving for a flight at 2pm

I really wanted to say goodbye to you…..

Goodbye……”

I checked the time 12:30 pm.

‘1 hour and 30 minutes to go…’

‘No….NO!!!’

I ran out of the café and caught a taxi.

‘Joon wait for me….’

~~~~~~ 1 hour later ~~~~~~~

I ran around the airport.

I looked at the time table there was a flight going to America at 2pm.

I ran to the gate and started to shout.

“Joon!! Joon!!!! Come back!!!!!!”

“Please don’t do this or we will have to call security….” The man said.

I ignored him and kept on shouting.

“Joon!!!!!”

‘I called for Joon the whole time but he never came…he had already left….all I could do was watch the plane leave….I guess I deserve the pain…..for breaking Joon’s heart….’

~~~~~ In America ~~~~~~

‘I left last night at 12 am…..Korean time…..’

“Joon have you made your decision…..do you want to be a female or male…?”

I gulped.

“I want to be….a …..a….female…..”

“Okay…we will call you 1 week later about the operation dates….”

~~~~~~~ Back in Korea ~~~~~~~

I came back into the café.

I saw Hoon standing there.

“Hoon why didn’t you leave its 3 hours past closing time closing time….”

“Because I have something to say….”

“What…?”

“If Joon ever comes back…I going to make Joon mine…I liked Joon too but I kept quiet about because I knew she loved you…..but since you made Joon cry…I’m not holding back anymore….”

Hoon and I glared at each other.

“I made the mistake once but I’m not going to make the mistake twice…I’m not going to lose Joon…ever again….”
