Eleven

 

When I woke up the next morning, Yixing was gone from my room and I could hear the telltale sounds of breakfast in session from the kitchen. Silverware clashed on plates, and there was a audible ding of a microwave.   Running a hand through my hair and running sleep out of my eyes, I entered the kitchen to find Moonkyu with his head in the fridge, Lu Han and Kyungsoo making breakfast at the stove, and Sehun taking warm milk out of the microwave. The other members sat at the table, eating from a growing plate of eggs, sausages, and fruit.   "Morning!" Suho greeted, pulling out a seat for me between him and Yixing. "You feeling better?"   "Peachy," I replied, helping myself to fruit. Avoiding Jongin's gaze at all costs, I dug into my breakfast. There was still a tense silence, and I felt like the others all knew that something was wrong, even if they didn’t know what it was.    "Yo, can I get some juice?" Jongin's voice broke the awkward silence. Stabbing a cube of watermelon with gusto, I finally look up at Jongin. Nothing different except darker eye circles than usual. I wasn't sure what I was expecting.   I felt the mood suddenly change. "Sure," Moonkyu muttered, getting out another cup from the cabinet. A moment later, he had taken two steps toward the table, tripped comically, and dumped the entire cup of orange juice onto the front of Jongin's shirt.    "What the hell, man!" Jongin exclaimed, jumping up to his feet.   Moonkyu shrugged, not looking very sorry. "My bad," he said. "Slipped."   With a frustrated growl, Jongin slunk off to his room to change without a word.   "Well that wasn't very nice," Yixing commented mildly, looking only a little amused.   Moonkyu just smirked. "He deserved it."     It was taut, but I managed a quick smile at my brother. Things may have been the way they were, but that didn’t mean I didn’t have an awesome brother who would always be looking out for me, even if his way of dealing with my distraught emotions weren’t... conventional.           For some members, training kicks up ten fold when the date of the rebellion was decided. Sehun, especially, seemed to be cracking under the pressure. As his gusts of wind grew greater and greater, he seemed to lose more and more control. It then of course came as little surprise that when he found out Lu Han had eaten the last of his favorite breakfast cereal, he single handed caused a gust of wind in the house so strong that every frame fell from its place on the wall and Dr. Lee’s bookshelves toppled over.    “Sehun, stop it!” Lu Han exclaimed, horrified. “I’ll buy you more cereal, okay? Just stop.”   “I can’t,” Sehun muttered through clenched teeth as another gust of strong wind overturned a table, almost lifting me off my feet. By then, everyone in the kitchen was on their feet.    “Sehun!” Joonmyun warned. “Stop.”   “I’m trying,” Sehun replied, clutching at his hair as the wind picked up even more speed. “I can’t stop it. It won’t - ”   “Min,” Kris immediately turned to me. “Confuse him. Wipe his memory of this cereal incident and make him stop before he destroys the house.”   “Too late for that,” Jongdae muttered under his breath, face looking a bit too amused. Kris smacked him on the arm and the smirk quickly slid off his face.      “Let Sehun stop it himself,” Dr. Lee said. “He needs to learn how.”   “Well he better hurry.” The strong wind was too much for me to handle and I grabbed onto the nearest person, Yixing, so I wouldn’t fall.    “Sehun-ah, deep breath,” Jongin said, reaching out and managing to get a hand on Sehun’s shoulder. “Think about chocolate cake.
