But it also meant watching time and it's vengeance draw deep canyons into your face. It meant watching your mind stutter and click, tripping over cobwebs and loose cogs. It meant holding you close, hearing your humming heart stop its singing. It meant pulling you closer still; his skin shiny porcelain, yours cracked antique. It meant crying alone without you to dry his tears because, even with immortality, there is never enough time.
