Foreword

 

An estimated 245,225 people in the United States are living with, or are in remission from, leukemia which progress without treatment each year - spreading up to an estimated 44,790 new cases of leukemia, which will be diagnosed in the United States this year (2012).

  About 2.4 percent of new cases of leukemia in children aged 0 to 19 years are CML (Chronic lymphocytic leukemia). Slightly less than 1 percent of all cases of CML are in children aged 15 to 19 years.

Hence, about 460 children are expected to die from leukemia annually.

Chapter 1: A sweet and touching story. I have a friend who has leukemia, so this kind of hits home a bit, plus several close family members passed away from cancer. *sad*
