“YOU’RE IN THE HOSPITAL?” Someone screamed as soon as I picked up my cell phone.

“Who is this?”

“The one and only Alexander Lee Eusebio, of course.”

“Oh.  Xander oppa.”

“I haven’t seen you in a few months and the reaction I get is ‘Oh, it’s Xander’?”

“XANDER OPPA!” I exclaimed.

“That’s better.”

“Why are you calling?  Don’t you realize that it’s four in the morning?”

“Yeah, but I’m a vampire now.”

“What?”

“You know, vampire?  Sleeps at day, roams at night?  Bloodsucker…pale…all of that jazz.”

“Yeah, I get it, but why—“

“I’ve been recording at night.”

“I see.”

“You’re no fun.”

“Once again, it’s four in the morning.  Most sane people are sleeping right now.”

“Are you calling me crazy?”

“Er…that’s not what I—“

“That’s all right.  Because I am crazy.”

“Right.  You never answered my question, Xander.  Why are you calling me?”

“I was bored and wanted to see if you would hang out with me.”

“I would…but…I’m in the hospital.”

“Oh gosh!  I forgot.  How about I come visit you?”

“Visiting hours are over.”

“What floor are you on?”

“Sixth.”

“Dang…I can’t climb up…”

“Why don’t you come in a few hours?”

“Because that’s what boring people do.”

“Xander—“

“I know!  I’ll just walk in and see how far I get.”

“Xander—“

“What room number?”

“607, but—“

“That big hospital in Seoul, right?”

“Yeah, but—“

“See ya in a few!”

“Xander…aish.  You hung up on me.  Bad oppa.”

About half an hour later, there was a quiet knock on my door.  I stared at it in disbelief—I didn’t think Xander would get that far.  He loves to be loud, so sneaking around wasn’t really his thing.

“Ella Kim!  Let me in before I reveal all of your secrets.”

“Aish…just open the door!”

“Oh.  Hey!”

“Hey to you too, Xander.”

“How’s it going?”

“It’s four in the morning, for goodness sake.”

“I know.”

Xander took a seat in the chair next to the hospital bed.  He rested his face in his palms and glanced up at me.  “I’m tired of this, Ella.”

“Tired of what?”

“Going solo.  It was fun at first, but now I’m just bored.”

“You want to be in Ukiss again?”

“Not exactly…”

“Then what do you want?”

“To hang out with the guys like we used to when we were Ukiss.  The singing part is all right, but I get lonely.  A lonely Xander is not a good thing.”

“Oh, I know.  Trust me,” I replied.

“Are you chill with me posting our playdate on Twitter.”

“I don’t want your Xanderettes killing me for hanging out with you.”

“We’re not dating or anything.”

“I know, but…”

“They’ll understand.”

“I hope so.”

“Sending the tweet now.”

“Kay.”

“Posted.”

“Are you planning on pulling an all-nighter, Xander?”

“No.  Can I crash here?”

“You can sleep on the couch.  Bet the guys will be shocked to see you tomorrow morning.”

“Oh, I’ll be gone before they can find me.”

“Okay…”

“Because I’m a ninja.  It’s not like I’m avoiding them or anything.”

“Whatever you say…”

We spent the rest of the night talking about random things and catching up on our lives.  I learned that Xander was to have a fanmeet around the time of his birthday.  I wished him an early birthday too.

“So you’re dating Beast’s Yang Yoseob?”

“Yes.”

“Do you want me to give you dating advice?”

“But you’ve never dated anyone before…right?”

“I dated Minah from Girls Day.”

“For a show.”

“I’ve seen it in the dramas.  Trust me, all right?”

“I’ll hear you out.”

“Boyfriends come and go, but family will stay with you forever.”

“Are you telling me that Yoseob is going to dump me or vice versa?”

“No.  I’m just saying that if anything in your relationship goes wrong, family will always stand by you.”

“Thanks Xander…that actually makes sense.”

“I know.  Now I’m off to Xanderland.  Want to come?  I can give you a VIP pass.”

“Um…I’ll just go to Ellaland like I do every night.”

“Suit yourself.”

“Night Xander.”

“Night, kid.”

“I’m not a kid!”

“You are to me.”

“You’re like a baby then.”

“Then you’re an infant!”

“Same thing, Xander.”

“Darn.  I guess you win.”

“Good night.”

“Good morning.”

“Whatever.”
