HypE Section:

HypE was excused from Bae’s office which left President Bae and an amused Song Kang Dae alone. Dae remained standing where he was just previously introduced to HypE as their new found ‘Manager.’

“You asked me to come back to be their Manager?” He asks. Kang Dae was amused but quite surprised as well. He couldn’t help but feel slightly flattered by his makeshift father’s request.

“So will you accept the proposal?” Bae asks as he glances at the smiling boy. He had to admit he hadn’t thought this through completely, but he knew he could trust him.

“Well, I honestly don’t have anything better to do.” Kang Dae says while shrugging his shoulders. He seemed a little too nonchalant about the whole thing and if you didn’t know him, you would think he was irresponsible. Knowing the kid though, Bae knew this was just how he was. Bae smiled as he saw Kang Dae phase out a bit, he knew the younger boy was going through many different scenarios in his head. He was a creative genius, most didn’t know this, that is why Bae chose him.

“Yeah, I’ll do it.” Kang Dae finally responds with a confident and enthusiastic nod.

“You sure you aren’t bothered by it?” Bae asks again being a bit concerned. Kang Dae knew he was referring to the past, but nodded again.

“It doesn’t bother me anymore.” Kang answers. The conversation, if heard by anyone else, would seem cryptic and almost a bit suspicious. Though in reality is wasn’t any of that at all.

“Is your sister taking it okay?” Kang Dae smiles when hearing the topic.

“Sang Hee is alright. She’s in college. No one bothers her too much anymore.” Kang Dae answers suddenly troubled. “Will I need to hide my identity as well?” He asks the President. Bae seems to think about it before nodding.

“I think it would be best. You don’t need to hide yourself around HypE. More so when cameras and paparazzi start coming around.” Dae nods and stands up to head out.

“Where are you going?” Bae asks looking up from his paperwork. Dae smiles as he turns around and stares at his Appa.

“I’m going to take them out to diner.” He replies loosely. Bae raises an eyebrow before leaning back in his chair, arms crossed.

“I’m not paying for this.” He responds blankly. He knew how much HypE could eat, especially that Moon girl. She could pack a punch in anyone’s pocket with her never ending appetite. 

“Don’t worry Appa, I’ve got it covered.” Kang Dae laughs as he heads out.

“Wait!” Bae’s voice halts the younger teen.

“They’ll be very suspicious of you. Their trust was broken by their previous Manager.” Bae seems to contemplate something before deciding to just say it out loud, “Try not to let your age out, alright?” Something told him that HypE wouldn’t be as cooperative if they found out Kang Dae’s age. Kang Dae listens intently before letting out a laugh and nodding.

“Alright! Win their trust don’t let my age slip! Got it.” With that the younger boy left leaving an exhausted Kim Bae behind and alone with his thoughts. He silently wished his first child luck.

 (A/N: I don’t know if that whole segment seemed pointless. But, I think you’ll understand it more in the near and far future.)

Meanwhile in HypE’s dorm they were all gathered in the living room and discussing their new found Manager. Let’s just say the conversation was more like a war zone than a discussion.

“I don’t understand why you are all so against the poor guy.” MinJee states. She was defending their new found Manager. All this complaining was really getting on her nerves. 

“How can you not be even a little suspicious?” Aerin asks with a look of irritation mixed with disbelief. 

“Well, Bae trusts him. The guy didn’t do anything I deemed suspicious as of yet.” MinJee explains trying to express her level headed opinion to the others. She knew their judgements were plagued by the betrayal of KwangSu. Her statement brought a bitter laugh to escape Haeyun’s mouth.

“Bae trusted KwangSu too. What makes this Kang Dae guy any different?” Haeyun replies flicking some of his dark hair out of his eyes. 

“We all trusted him.” KyungSu sadly adds causing the others to dampen slightly as well. The male maknae’s comment was true, they did all previously trust their old Manager.

“Well, he’s our new Manager. There is nothing we can say or do about it.” Jae Hyun finally speaks up trying to put an end to the arguing. He gave props to MinJee, he didn’t expect her to go out of her way to defend this new guy. He suddenly found a whole new level of respect for her. He mentally decided that if he wasn’t the leader, he would have deemed MinJee to be.

“What if he betrays us?” JaKyung asks. She was abnormally quiet throughout the argument. She didn’t want to trust this new manager. Something seemed a bit secretive about him. And until he let them on to what he was hiding, she wasn’t going to take her eyes off of him.

“Face it, we won’t want to trust anyone completely ever again. But, without a Manager we’ll never debut.” MinJee states managing to silence everyone in the room. “Now tell me,” she asks switching her relaxed look, to one of determination, “do you still want to complain about him?” Her tone of voice challenging anyone to go against her word.

“MinJee and Jae Hyun are right.” HaNi finally speaks catching the attention of all her elders. “We have to give him a chance. None of us would be here now if we were never given a chance.” HaNi finishes with a sweet, but soft smile. Her group members seemed to soften, even the stubborn JaKyung.  HaNi could tell this “Kang Dae” was not a bad guy. Sure, he seemed like he had a lot of secrets, but none of them got to know him yet. So of course he would seem like a mystery. Her innocent mind had not been plagued with the ugly affects of mistrust like the others. 

A knock suddenly sounded at HypE’s door. They glanced at each other before JaKyung stood to answer it. Being the closest to the door she found it the appropriate action. She regret it as soon as she saw who was on the opposite end. She sneered a bit and opened the door.

“Speak of the devil.” She announces as she eyes the male at the door. Kang Dae raises an eyebrow before smiling anyways. HypE peers over to find the topic of their previous argument standing there, in the flesh.

“Manager-nim?” Aerin asks politely. She could not understand why he would be here. Surely, they couldn’t have a schedule at this time or this soon. The name given to Dae caused him to frown and shake his head.

“Please, don’t call me that.” Kang Dae responds, catching HypE by surprise.

“What do you want?” JaKyung blurts out rudely. The glare from MinJee told her everything she needed to know and she shut quickly.

“I’m here to take you guys out to diner.” Kang Dae responds, not offended in the least by what JaKyung said.

“Really?!” KyungSu asks getting a bit excited. The others were excited as well. KwangSu never went out in public with them, it was as if he never wanted to be seen with them.

“Of course!” Kang responds with the same kind smile on his face. “You guys can order anything you want! I’ve got you all covered.” He continues lightly. His response threw the group into a whole other level of shock. They had to admit, this new Manager of theirs seemed to have a sort of charm that made it hard to hate him. This could definitely be dangerous.

“If you don’t mind me asking, why?” Jae Hyun asks politely. He wanted to see if Bae-appa was behind the strangers motives or was it just out of the kindness of his heart.

“I thought we should get to know each other since we’ll be working together a lot.” Dae answers again. He expected lots of questions from RisEntertainment’s new group. The answer seemed to satisfy.

“You want to take us out!” Haeyun squeals excitedly as he began to make his way towards the new face. This silently signalled that he agreed to go. Aerin glanced at her brother before standing too, silently accepting Kang Dae’s offer as well. 

“I’ll go if you promise me a coffee.” MinJee says staring at the new Manager. 

“As much as you want.” Kang Dae replies, sending a charming smile her way. With a satisfied nod and excited glint in her eyes, MinJee stood as well. HaNi, KyungSu, and Jae Hyun stand after a short while too. All the members agreed to go, mentally putting Kang Dae at ease. He would never let it show, but he really wanted their approval. He was scared he was going to be flat out rejected like he has been for a couple of years now.

“Are you coming with us as well, beautiful?” JaKyung raises an eyebrow and places a hand on her hip. She couldn’t believe the nerve of this guy! Who was he to try and ‘persuade’ her.

“My name is JaKyung.” She replies flatly as she walks past him to wait in the hall. Kang raises an eyebrow at the feisty girl, before smirking and leading everyone to his car.

The car ride there was less quiet and awkward than their first meeting. HypE seemed to lighten up and began to try and like their new Manager. Once they arrived at the restaurant they were lead to their seats. HypE was amazed to say the least. 

(A/N: Like mentioned before, I don’t know any places in South Korea so use your imagination!)

Once at their table, Jae Hyun smiles and pulls out Aerin’s chair for her. She raises an eyebrow but smiles when she catches Jae’s smile as well. While he pushed her in, he bent to whisper in her ear.

“This place looks high class. I have to stay classy with my lady.” He says causing Aerin to blush slightly. Jae Hyun takes his seat shortly after laughing a bit. Aerin had to agree with his statement though, this place did look expensive. 

Kang Dae had seen the moment between the two members of HypE and raised an eyebrow. He wondered silently if they were together, but shrugged it off finding it sweet in a way. When the waiter came by and dropped off their menus, Jae Hyun finally decided to break the silence. It wasn’t awkward but he didn’t like it either.

“Thank you.” His words weren’t only from himself, but all the others as well. They each nodded silently thanking Kang Dae as well. KwangSu never was this nice and friendly with them. He didn’t even take the time to sit and know each of the members.

“It’s no problem!” Kang Dae replies cheekily. 

“You’re Jae Hyun, correct? You are the leader of HypE?” He starts off. He really did mean he wanted to get to know them. Jae Hyun is surprised and looks at him with a smile. It seems as if he did some research.

“Ne, Park Jae Hyun.” He responds lightly, letting Kang know he was correct.

“Do you know all of our names?” Haeyun asks curiously as he laid a napkin down in his lap, not wanting to stain his new pants.

“Yeah, I know your names. You’re Haeyun, the face of the group.” He listed off the rest of the members and ended with KyungSu.

“Since you don’t want us calling you Manager, may I call you Oppa?” Haeyun requests almost shyly. Kang Dae is caught off guard with the question but laughs and nods his head agreeing to the nickname from the particularly feminine member.

“Let me introduce myself better. My name is Song Kang Dae, but you can just call me Op.” He answers not realizing HaNi brighten up suddenly. 

“Op!!” HaNi squeals happily before launching towards him and hugging him. Kang Dae smiles softly and returns the small girl’s hug. He was wondering when she would recognize him. The other members grow confused as MinJee pulls the excited girl away and back into her seat since she was causing a scene.

“You know each other?” JaKyung asks hesitantly. If the maknae knew him, then maybe he couldn’t be all that bad. Still, she had her suspicions. HaNi brightens at the question and nods muttering the simple phrase. “Co-Op.”

The name suddenly causes each member to realize who their new Manager was. Kang Dae, better known as Op, grew slightly uncomfortable.

“You’re our Sunbae!” MinJee exclaims surprised, suddenly she rememberd the duo known as Co-Op, they were RisEntertainment’s first debuted artists. When they receive a slow nod from Op, they suddenly grow excited. A previous idol wanted to help them debut. That was quite surprising. 

The waiter came by to take their orders, halting their conversation. 

“May I order ice cream, Oppa?” HaNi asks sweetly, her natural aegyo flowing out easily. KyungSu and JaKyung listened closely planning to order the same delicious delicacy. 

“Of course, like I said, order whatever you want.” He replies. Hearing the words each member began to order their favorite dishes. They haven’t realized how little they’ve eaten the past couple of days due to their subtle depression. Once the orders were taken, the questions began again.

“Oppa! What happened?! Why did you suddenly leave?” HaNi asks, she was slightly tearing up. No one knew this, but HaNi was a trainee the longest despite her young age. Op, grew a liking for the small girl and looked after her when she was training.

“Yeah, what ever happened to Co-Op?” Haeyun asks.

“If you don’t mind us asking.” KyungSu adds trying desperately not to offend Op. JaKyung and the others paid attention. JaKyung wanted to hear what he had to say, maybe this is why he seemed so suspicious. She thought maybe he was out to steal their spotlight, having his end so suddenly.

“Well,” Op starts off, but takes a deep breath before continuing. “Long story short, someone put a scandal on me and Co’s names. They set us up and ruined our career. When people found out about the scandal there were lots of complaints. Though the scandal wasn’t true, the public would have a hard time believing us, so we disbanded.” Op purposely left out most of the details. HypE remained silent, they wished to know more, but thought it wrong to push it out of Op. 

“So you were sabotaged too?” Aerin asks. She suddenly realized how much they were alike. Situation wise at least. The food they had ordered were now placed in front of them, and they began to eat.

“Is this why Bae-nim made you our Manager?” MinJee asks as she peers over her cup of delicious dark liquid. She was definitely enjoying this coffee.

“Yeah, I’m going to make sure you have a successful debut, and you aren’t tricked like I was.” He responds after swallowing some food.

“So you’re planning our debut?” JaKyung asks. 

“When will we be debuting?!” HaNi asks a little too excitedly causing a few diners to glance their way. MinJee quickly clamps a hand over .

“Shhh! Use your inside voice, fat mouth.” MinJee says before letting go of HaNi. The younger girl glares slightly with the name she was addressed by.

“I will start planning tonight.” Op responds lightly. In actuality he’s been planning this whole time. Thinking of a numerous amount of ways to help them out. 

“Really?” JaKyung asks surprised. When she receives a happy nod from Op, she felt a sort of great appreciation deep inside her. Maybe, she’d lighten up on him. He was proving not to be that bad.

“So should we expect to arise early tomorrow?” Jae Hyun asks trying to hide his eagerness. 

“Yes Hyung.” Op manages to say before taking a sip of his drink. When he sees the wide eyes of the other, he slowly realizes he let his age slip. He silently cursed himself. Bae told him to try and hide it and he failed.

“You’re younger than us?” MinJee asks being the same age as Jae Hyun.

“How old are you exactly?” Haeyun asks from his spot. Op became a bit uncomfortable.

“I’m... eighteen, but turning nineteen this year. I’m technically the same age as you and Aerin.” He answers Haeyun’s question. “I’m only older than KyungSu and HaNi.” He replies hesitantly. Hearing their names, the youngest two smile.

JaKyung had to admit, she was a bit impressed by the younger kid. It didn’t mean she was going to make his job any easier though. She planned to mess with their younger Manager. MinJee and Jae Hyun didn’t exactly know how to react to this information, they weren’t sure how to address him. Aerin and Haeyun were on the same page.

“Now, do you understand what I meant when I said, think of me more of a friend than a Manager?” Op asks smiling softly. Suddenly, they understood. He wanted them to have a casual friendship with each other.

“I’m still calling you Oppa.” Haeyun suddenly replies causing everyone to break the silence with laughter.

When they finished their meals, Op stuck to his word and paid for everything. They were going to question how he had the amount of money, but decided it was because he used to be an idol. On their way back to the dorms everyone was chatting lightly. A few of the members decided to put their complete trust in their new Manager. They just prayed they could trust him not to break it.

As they reach their dorm, Op holds the door open for them and bid each of the a goodnight. After a particularly long hug from the maknae, JaKyung passes Op.

“Night JaKyung-sshi.” Op says while smiling. JaKyung halts before a mischievous glint hits her. She ruffles Op’s hair causing his eyes to widen.

“It’s Noona to you, not sshi.” She says lightly before entering the dorm. Op shakes his head trying to fix his hair but gives up after a short moment.

“That girl is going to be trouble.” He mutters in English not noticing MinJee laughing slightly.

“You have no idea what you’re up for.” MinJee answers him in English, catching him off guard. He smiles and thanks her for the warning, before saying good night.

HQ Section:

It was night time over at Kwan Entertainment and the tired members of HQ were just coming back from an especially intense practice. They didn’t even make it two steps into the door before JinSun began to criticize one certain member.

“Ma Roo,” The tired boy wasn’t paying attention having his earphone in and focusing on trying to take his shoes off without falling over. Watching as the leader ripped the earphones out of Ma Roo’s ears, the members flinched. JinSun was definitely not in a good mood. Ma Roo quickly looked up frightened at the viscous nature of JinSun.

“Listen! You need to stop ignoring everyone and start paying attention.” The girls and MinKi could only watch sadly as Ma Roo was scolded by their strict leader. They knew he was just stressed and tired, otherwise he wouldn’t be like this.

“You were off the whole time we were practicing. Your footing was even off at times! You may have a beautiful voice but you need to work on your timing.” JinSun finishes before quickly heading to wash up. Ma Roo just silently nod. The members could tell that he was upset. MinKi pat the boys shoulder as he walked pass him, trying to let him know it was okay. The girls did the same and bid him a goodnight as they all washed up and head to bed.

Later on, in the middle of the night, JinSun wakes up. He was troubled and couldn’t sleep for some reason. He decided he would get a glass of water, but he noticed someone was missing. Shaking the only other figure in the room, he finds it to be MinKi.

“Ugh~ What JinSun?! I’m sleeeeepppiing~” MinKi replies groggily, he didn’t believe it was time to wake up. It seems as if he just closed his eyes. He couldn’t help but be a bit irritated. I mean, a Diva needs his beauty sleep.

“MinKi!? Ma Roo is missing.” JinSun states feeling his voice begin to pitch a tad higher. 

“He never came in the room after you yelled at him.” MinKi answers before turning over and falling back asleep. JinSun stood there for a bit, before frowning, he was officially worried. He left the room and looked in the living room. He thought maybe Ma Roo would be sleeping on the couch with his cat like he usually did. When he found no Ma Roo, he swore slightly. A small face peaks out from the kitchen hearing the foul language escape the leader’s mouth.

“JinSun Oppa?” The voice of the youngest members asks. JinSun spins around and sighs when he sees ChaeC standing there with DonDon in her arms. Strangely enough, the cat seemed to like her.

“ChaeC, what are you doing up?” JinSun asks. ChaeC tilts her head and continues to pet DonDon’s head.

“I heard DonDon scratching the door. So I came out to investigate.” ChaeC states simply. “I think he’s looking for his daddy.” ChaeC responds. JinSun nods and thinks of where Ma Roo could be, he sighs before heading out of the dorm.

“Stay inside alright ChaeC?” He warns receiving an obedient nod from the naturally cute girl who was in her footsie pajamas.

JinSun had a feeling Ma Roo would be found in their practice room. His assumption was proved right when he peeked into the room and saw a figure moving to an unheard beat. JinSun didn’t say a word, not wanting to be seen, but watched Ma Roo. Ma Roo was singing softly, his singing was beautiful. It always seemed to be on perfect pitch. He was using his voice as a beat since he was not playing any music. JinSun found that to be a bit weird but continued to watch him. The earphones that JinSun previously ripped out of his ears were not in it’s usual place. JinSun felt guilty as he saw how exhausted the younger boy was. Maybe, he had been a bit too harsh on him. After a bit he noticed Ma Roo swaying back and forth, then suddenly drop to the ground. JinSun gasped and quickly went over to him and shook him trying to get him to respond. Unfortunately Ma Roo had out.

“, why did you overwork yourself kid.” JinSun said sadly as he lifted Ma Roo up and began to head back to their room.

JinSun knocked on the door and ChaeC answered it with a smile. It instantly dropped when she saw Ma Roo.

“What’s wrong with Roo?” She asks sadly.

“ChaeC, can you go wake your unnies and ask them to help?” JinSun asks ignoring her question. She nods and hurries to go and wake DD and HyunJi up as JinSun sets Ma Roo down on the couch. Almost instantly DonDon was sat upon Ma Roo’s stomach. JinSun glared at the cat, but decided against shooing him away. He could already feel his eyes watering from the cats stupid fur.

“Whoa, what happened to him?” HyunJi asks in a amused voice as she receives a shove from DD.

“What happened JinSun?” DD asks eyeing the boy.

“He passed out. He hasn’t been to sleep yet.” JinSun answers shortly. DD nods before ordering HyunJi to grab a pillow and blanket, while ChaeC went to grab a wet cloth.

Once the items were obtained, HyunJi carefully lifted Ma Roo’s head on to the pillow. DD gently laid the blanket over Ma Roo and successfully covered DonDon with it. The cat didn’t seem to mind. ChaeC gently dabbed the sweat off of Ma Roo’s face. He was still flushed from the constant moving he was doing a little while ago. After a bit of looking over, JinSun sighed.

“Alright guys. Let’s get some sleep. We have a schedule tomorrow.” JinSun announces causing the three girls to nod and return to their rooms. JinSun pats Ma Roo’s head before making his way back to his room as well.

Morning came quickly and it hardly felt like HQ got sleep before KwangSu was getting them up. All the members were sleepy as they were lead to KwangSu’s van. No one had mentioned what had happened last night, but Ma Roo did thank whoever carried him back to the room.

“KwangSu-nim, where are we going?” DD asks from her window seat next to HyunJi. 

“We’re going to the hairdresser today.” He responds glancing back at them through his rear view mirror. He saw smiles erupt on each of their faces, well except for JinSun’s, his was more of a smirk.

“Oh! How are we going to get our hair done?!?” ChaeC and MinKi ask excitedly.

“Well, as you know. You’re debut song is called Monster, so you’ll each look like a certain “creature.” We aren’t going to do any special styling today, more like we’ll be setting up the base. So you’ll get your hair cut, extended, dyed, or all of the above.” KwangSu answers. HQ felt their excitement grow. Who didn’t like a makeover?

“JinSun, you’ll be a Centaur of some sort.” JinSun raises an eyebrow, he could see how the idea matched he guessed. “We’ll mix it more with a bull sort of look though.” JinSun nodded finally realizing it matched with his attitude. KwangSu moved on to the next member.

“Ma Roo, you’ll be a ghost.” Ma Roo stared at KwangSu’s image in the mirror. After a while he nodded understanding why he would be that monster. He was quiet enough to be one. He thought it would be pretty cool. 

“MinKi, yours is a bit complicated to explain. You are somewhat of a doll.” MinKi raises an eyebrow.

“Doll?” MinKi asks confused.

“Yes, you are a doll who thinks they’re human.” MinKi nods at KwangSu’s explanation. He supposed it was an interesting idea.

“DD! You’ll be a phoenix!” KwangSu announces, DD began to cheer. She liked her red hair and was hoping to keep the color to a reddish shade.

“HyunJi and ChaeC, you’ll both be monsters having to do with water.” The two girls mentioned glance at each other before staring at the back of their Manager’s head.

“HyunJi will be a Siren, while ChaeC is a Kelpie.” The two girls smile before nodding, contempt with their monsters. When they arrived to the shop they all made their way to the door when suddenly KwangSu bumps into a much younger male.

“Oh, I’m so sorry.” The younger boy says while bowing slightly to them.

“It’s quite alright.” KwangSu answers bowing as well. The boy glances at the amount of people around him and smiles.

“Looks like you have an idol group on your hands.” The young man announces happily. When KwangSu nods he happily introduces the upcoming group named HQ. The young man nodded and opened the door to let them in.

“I wish you all good luck, I know what you guys are going through.” The young man announces before bowing and taking his leave. Once they reach the counter, the desk clerk widens her eyes and massages her temples. 

“Please tell me you aren’t going to schedule a large group of people.” She asks almost pleading him to say no. KwangSu smiles before shaking his head.

“No, I scheduled ahead of time.” The clerk seems to sigh in relief and happily check her clipboard.

“You must be HQ then! Thank goodness we just got a scheduling for seven people at once.” The female clerk rambles on as she motions for them to follow her into the back. Once back there HQ was pulled in separate directions by certain workers who would be working on them. KwangSu furrows his eyebrows as he registers what has been said by the female clerk from before.

A group of seven scheduled for a makeover? Surely, it couldn’t have had something to do with the young man he just bumped into. There was only one up and coming group he knew of that had such a peculiar number of members. He shook his head clear of those thoughts as he watched the members of HQ get made over. He didn’t tell them what exactly would be done to their hair since he wanted them to be surprised.

HypE’s Section:

Knocking could be heard at HypE door. They were all very sleepy but managed to meet in the kitchen knowing the person at the door was their new found Manager. MinJee opens the door and is surprised when she finds a tray of freshly brewed coffees shoved at her.

“You brought us coffee?” MinJee asks as she could feel her heart soften a bit more at the younger boy’s attempt. Op sure knew how to get on her good side.

“Yup, thought you all would be tired.” He answers before letting himself in and handing coffee to the older members. “Sorry HaNi, sorry KyungSu, no coffee for you.” He says glancing at the empty handed maknaes. They nodded sleepily not minding the absence of the bitter tasting liquid.

“What’s up Oppa?” Haeyun asks being a little more awake than before.

“Well, I’ve decided on what to do for your debut.” Op answers leaning back in his chair. Tipping it so it was only on its hind legs. JaKyung had the sudden urge to push him over, but decided against it.

“You have?” Jae Hyun asks curisouly. He was seated next Aerin who also sported a look of surprise.

“Yes, I decided to stick with Lollipop as your debut song. Though, I hope you all are ready cause your looks are going to be changed.” The members stopped what they were doing and stared at Op.
