“Master Wu?” I heard someone call as they lightly shook my shoulder.

I groaned.

Everything hurt.

From the splitting ache in my head to the suffocating wrenching in my chest.

“What time is it?” I muttered rather incoherently.

“It’s almost noon, sir,” replied the maid.

I pushed myself up from the hard surface, surprised that she could actually understand me.

I glanced around through one tired eye. Three empty bottles were sprawled on the counter and one was lying broken on the floor.

I looked down at the empty glass in front of me and swallowed when I saw a shiny ring sitting next to it.

“When did she leave?” I asked blandly.

The maid looked down. “Last night, sir. She left a little while after her brother.”

“Did she have Driver Sheng come and get her?”

“Yes sir.”

“Call him and tell him to meet me upstairs in an hour.”

After the maid left to do my bidding, I stood up carefully took up the ring.

“I can’t believe she was serious…”

I clutched it in my hand and closed my eyes.

I am a total idiot. I had something so great in front of me and I just messed it up.

My thoughts scrambled back to what Xiumin had said.
