Two
Figurines with Coffee in Winter
CHAPTER 2
Soft sobs were heard in the coffee house. When the customers were getting suspicious, Hana turned the volume of the music a little bit louder.
“Kaye, you should calm down. You’ve been like this, hours ago. If not for Min calling me about you, then I would never know!” Hana was trying to comfort Kaye. She had been outside the store for hours, waiting for Min and Hana. “If you’re not gonna stop, I won’t give you discounts ever again.”
“But that’s blackmailing!” Kaye exclaimed in an instant. She breathed in and out, wiping the tears away. Min brought her a caramel frappe with milk. “I don’t really get my life. It’s so confusing. I like working in the café, but at the same time I despise it. I’m not a hypocrite, am I?”
“No, you aren’t. Why did you start working there in the first place? I could’ve gotten you one here.” Hana asked with a really concerned look.
Kaye hesitated before answering. “Remember those figurines I made? I decided to sell them because I really needed money and my mom hated those. I didn’t have a choice but to get rid of them. The store manager said he’ll buy the figurines, but he also wanted me to work there, as a waitress/hostess. The pay is good so I didn’t hesitate. And then-”
But she was cut off. Someone had interrupted them. Sunggyu was a few tables away from them but he could clearly hear everything. Min got up and asked him what he wanted, while Hana and Kaye exchange looks. Min came back flustered.
Hana was already eyeing her and gave a glance to Sunggyu and he returned it with a big grin. “He said he overheard our conversation, and he knows someone who loves anime figurines.”
“And….?” Kaye asked, sensing there was more she wanted to say. Hana was anxious to hear it as well.
“And he wants to go on a date with me.” Min said shyly. Then Hana grinned with an I-knew-it look on her face.
“Before we even have a girl talk about this, I’m going to ask him about his offer. Let’s save the chit-chatting for tonight.” Kaye rushed to Sunggyu.
She bowed 90° and greeted him. “Good day, Sunggyu-ssi. My name is Kaye and I am a sculptor for figurines.” Well, not really officially, but still… “You know, anime figurines. They’re my specialty. I heard from a close friend that you could help me?”
“Ah! It’s nice meeting you. I’m Sunggyu, and I take it that you already know me. Actually, he’s on his way here. I invited him and the others. Oh, it’s them.” Sunggyu pointed to the guys that just got to the stairs and walked to him. “They are the rest of the members of Infinite. Sungyeol, Woohyun, Myungsoo, Sungjong… Hoya, and… wait, where’s Dongwoo?”
Sungjong answered cheerfully. “He went to eat some street foods across this block.”
Sunggyu nodded. Kaye shook their hands nervously, and when she got to Myungsoo. She unconsciously called him “Master” in Japanese. Realizing what she had done, she instantly covered and pretended she didn’t say anything and continued shaking hands with Sungjong and Hoya. Oh my gosh, oh my gosh. I knew it! I knew it! That’s why he looked so familiar! Myungsoo heard it and he chuckled.
“Kaye, he’s the one I told you about.”
HAHA.
And I always start with a laugh. :D
