One Step Foward, Many Steps Backwards
The Cure“Hyunggggg!” Dongwoon whined as he tried looking away from the needle, but couldn’t as he was fixated by his doctor.
Yoseob frowned at his patient’s reaction. “Im sorry Dongwoonie. . .But you need this shot. Youre oddly yellow today.” He stuck the needle into a vein slowly and carefully trying to concentrate and not look at Dongwoon.
Even though he was his only patient, Yoseob found himself extremely distracted by this man. Two months had gone by since his first day at Cube Hospital and everyday was a daily routine.
Yoseob would sleep at the hospital. He had upgraded from the couch to sharing Dongwoon’s bed, which had strangely turned larger. He always wondered if it was one of the female orderlies who had replaced the bed for his sake. Despite his small stature Yoseob was incredibly restless during his sleep and required a lot of space.
As he withdrew the needle he took a peek at his patient who had shut his eyes and had bitten his lip. Yoseob didn’t know how to describe their relationship.
Since he had decided to stay, they had begun to spend all day together, learning more about each other than the other knew.
He smiled at the routine that had taken over his life. Hed spend the day with Dongwoon and once he fell asleep he would go home and change into a new pair of clothes, taking a clean shower. Many a times he would stop by shops that would open early in the morning. Arriving at the hospital would mean greeting the nurses happily and going up to see a sleeping Dongwoon who he had the privilege of waking up.
Dongwoon was equally as happy as his hyung. He felt safe in his care and a new feeling had arised within him.
Nana had always had a special saying about love that seemed fuzzy to him after so many years. But he remembered it was something about loving a person the moment you saw them and after getting to know them you just knew that they were the one for you.
He always blushed thinking that Dr Yang was the one for him but he could never bring himself to say anything to him. They hadn’t known each other for so long but he felt that maybe the doctor felt the same way about him.
The thing he loved the most about this man being a part of his life was that he was now the one person he could always count on to being there when he woke up and he would be the last one to see when he went to sleep.
His presence made him forget how much worse his condition was getting.
“Ah. . .Im glad the needle is gone.” Dongwoon sighed and opened his eyes to see his hyung smiling and couldn’t help but smile back.
Yoseob caught his breath as he saw the beautiful sight before him that was Son Dongwoon. The layer in his eyes was nearly all gone and Yoseob felt incredibly happy realizing that he was the reason why.
He the box in his lab coat softly trying to decide whether or not he and Dongwoon were ready for the next step.
True, they had never spoken of their feelings. And they had never kissed. But that wasn’t necessary to know the truth right? Everything had blossomed after all.
“Dongwoon. . . I was wondering. . . “ Yoseob stopped as he noticed a strange figure on the doorway.
Dongwoon looked away from Yoseob and his smile faltered as he saw a vision from the past and managed to whisper.
“Kikwang?. . . “
