(READ PART ONE FIRST: Fairytale)
There is really no reason for anyone to be jealous of me. Should I repeat myself? There is no reason at all to be jealous of me for dating Lu han. Want to know why? It's actually quite simple. What ends up happening, sooner or later, is that very girl in school hates you. The girls will try to be your friends at first, in hopes that they can get close to him using you and then steal him away. But eventually, even they will get tired of pretending, and from then on, jealousy turns them all into your worst enemies. Almost a whole year later, it seemed that the girl friend I had left was Sera. I barely had time to sit down in class before it started. "Nice shoes, Jieun. Did you just pick them out of the dumpster?" It was Jung Soojung, the girl who had decided to make it her life's goal to make me miserable. She was pretty good at it, too. I ignored her and stared straight ahead, waiting for class to start. It was Sera who stood up for me. "Nice face, Soojung," she replied, voice sickly sweet. "It must have cost a fortune. But really, I know a really good lawyer because you should demand your money back. They kind of ed up." "Shut up, Curly," Soojung snarled at her. Sera snarled right back, and then sat down next to me. "Jieun, you can't keep letting her talk to you like that," she whispered to me. "It's no use," I shrugged back at her. "If I shut her up today, she'll just return with meaner insults tomorrow." "But still..." "So, where's Lu han oppa these days?" Soojung continued, throwing a pencil pouch at the back of my head. "Soccer is a spring sport, so I know it's not practice. Why do I not see you guys walking home together anymore?" "Mind your own business, ," Sera snapped. I just sighed, and looked down. It had been more than two weeks since Lu han and I had taken the bus home together like we always used to. Soojung had a point. "Oh, I know," Soojung said, raising her voice. "Maybe Oppa finally sees what a lame-o you are. It's a miracle that he hasn't gotten tired of you yet anyway." I think the way my face changed told her that she had hit a nerve. "Oh my god, it's true, isn't it?" she gloated, taking a step towards me. "Lu han isn't into you boring piece of -" "Stop taking, Jung Soojung," Sera interrupted, raising her voice. Soojung stopped walking to glare at her, and thank goodness, at that moment, the door opened, and the teacher walked in. "Everyone take your seats," he called, putting down his books. "Come on now, move, move." Soojung gave us one last malevolent look, and then turned to sit down at her desk. I let out a sigh of relief, and sunk down a little in my seat. I had survived another morning. "Jieun, this isn't okay," Sera said, catching up to me as I made my way towards my next class. "You have to tell somebody. Soojung is never going to stop bullying you otherwise." "I don't want to trouble anyone," I told her, picking up my pace. "Jieun, stop walking." Her tone was serious, and I stopped to turn to her. Sera looked at me with serious eyes. "Is it worth it? Is dating Lu han really worth all of it?" What really scared me was the fact that I couldn't give her an answer. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- He had canceled on another date. At least this time, Lu han had the decency to send me a text. Sorry, tied up with sudden family stuff all afternoon and can't make it. I'll make it up to you, Ji, I promise. Walk you home after school tomorrow? :) -Lu han With a sigh, I turned away from the movie theater and headed towards the frozen yogurt place next door. For our last attempted date, I had actually waited for him for almost an hour before he had finally picked up my calls to tell me that he had taken a nap and overslept. Overslept. Really? Who the hell even does that-nap in the afternoon and miss a dinner date? It wasn't until I was on my home that I found out the truth. I was just passing the park in Pyeongnam Corner when I caught a flash of a side-profile that looked very much like Lu han. I stopped to look again, and it definitely was him, sitting on a park bunch with a dark haired girl next to him. She had her arm around his waist, and was hugging him like no tomorrow. It definitely did not look like "family stuff." Not at all. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I had every intention, the next day, of confronting Lu han on the walk home. We obviously had problems, and I needed to know what was really going on. Soojung, amazingly, left me alone before homeroom today, and I was able to start off the day without feeling the need to cry. That should have been my first warning that something was wrong. It was too calm, and a storm was brewing. I was just washing my hands by the sink when the door opened, and Soojung plus five of her minions stepped in. I immediately tried to leave, but one of the taller girls pushed me a step back before locking the bathroom door behind her. "Look who we have here," Soojung sneered. I wasn't scared of her. As y as Soojung was, she and her friends were still dainty princesses. They weren't going to beat me up or anything. "Move," I commanded, mustering up all of my courage. "I don't think so," she declared, letting out an evil laugh. "I think little Jieun here needs a makeover, don't you, girls?" To my horror, she reached into her purse, and pulled out a pair of scissors. I started moving towards a stall, hoping to lock myself inside, but two of the taller girls grabbed my arm. "Hold her still," Soojung commanded. I thrashed, as much as I could, but there were five people holding me, and I couldn't move. As tears came to my eyes, I could hear the sound of snipping, and saw bits of my long hair drift onto the ground. After a few minutes, Soojung took a step back, and gave me a satisfied smile. "You look much better," she smirked at me. "Now, that hair distracts people from your ugly face." With that, she turned, and her friends followed her out of the bathroom. I turned to a sink mirror and studied the damage done to my hair. What use
