Movie Date & Dinner = STARTING?

A Shining Star Across The Dark Sky

Hyemi was daydreaming in her class.

She was really excited about going on a date to the movies with Junhyung.

“HYEMI!” The teacher boomed and pounded the desk with her fist.

“Y-yes?” Hyemi snapped out of her thoughts.

“Answer number five.” The teacher challenged.

“The answer’s 15x.” Hyemi replied. Luckily, she was the school ‘nerd’.

“Thank you.” The teacher nodded her head.

Hyemi sighed and continued to look out the window.

Hyemi’s last class ended and she dashed out of the classroom.

She quickly went and used her locker.

She hurriedly stuffed her books in her locker and slammed it shut.

She walked out of the school like she wasn’t in a rush.

Hyemi saw Junhyung standing next to the gate, talking to a group of girls.

Her heart immediately sank a little, as she remembered that Junhyung, was the school playboy.

She sighed and waited for him to finish chatting with the girls.

But the girls didn’t bother to move an inch.

Instead, they got even closer to Junhyung and started touching him.

Hyemi’s eyes widened in horror. ‘How dare they!’ She thought.

Hyemi was just standing in the middle of the crowd of students who were rushing out of school.

“Move it!” A person shouted and pushed Hyemi to the ground.

“Ow!” Hyemi yelped as she caressed her arm.

Junhyung, who heard the yelp, turned his head and saw Hyemi on the floor with a hand on her arm.

“Bye ladies, gotta go.” He winked at they and ran to Hyemi.

“You okay?” He held out his hand to Hyemi.

Hyemi, not wanting to make this ‘trip incident’ any bigger, took the hand.

Junhyung pulled Hyemi up and Hyemi dusted off her uniform.

“Shall we go now?” Junhyung winked at Hyemi.

Hyemi felt a string of electricity run through her. She timidly nodded.

“Two tickets for ‘Please Love Me Again’ please.” Junhyung flashed a smile to the clerk.

The clerk’s cheeks turned slightly red but she continued on with her work.

She handed them two tickets and a piece of paper.

“Free popcorn for you guys.” She winked at Junhyung.

Junhyung took the paper while Hyemi took the tickets.

On the back of the paper, there were numbers scribbled on it.

Junhyung smirked. ‘Never gonna happen.’

They walked to the food court and handed the piece of paper with the words ‘Free Popcorn. From Saeri’ to the person behind the counter.

The person skimmed the piece of paper and nodded.

He went and got them a large box of popcorn.

“Two sodas please.” Hyemi ordered.

The guy nodded and filled two medium sized cups with soda.

Hyemi was watching the guy’s every move.

“You like him?” Junhyung asked, trying to sound jealous.

Hyemi laughed. “No.” She replied, but in her mind she was thinking, ‘Why would you be jealous of me?’

They took the food and hurriedly scrambled into the theater.

“But I thought you loved me!” The heartbroken girl in the movie said.

Hyemi was holding a tissue and blowing her nose.

The movie was too sad that she started crying.

“Is it that sad?” Junhyung whispered and Hyemi nodded, wiping her tears.

Junhyung sighed. ‘She even gets touched by a stupid movie…’

“Listen,” The guy in the movie said. “I never loved you, I don’t love you now, and I never will love you!” The guy shrieked heartlessly.

He pushed the girl away from him and left.

The girl just sat there, crying.

The movie ended and people started piling out of the theater room.

“That movie was so,” Hyemi blew her nose. “Sad!”

Junhyung chuckled at Hyemi.

“Didn’t you think it was sad?” Hyemi looked at Junhyung with her red, poofy eyes.

“No, it’s cheesy.” Junhyung snorted.

Hyemi poked her bottom lips out. “It’s not cheesy!”

“Whatever…” Junhyung rolled his eyes. “Let’s go eat something!”

Hyemi’s eyes brightened. “I know this very delicious Korean-”

“Let’s go eat some Chinese food!” Junhyung suggested.

Not wanting to make Junhyung disappointed, Hyemi agreed.

The ‘couple’ walked into a famous Chinese restaurant in Seoul.

“Two?” The waitress dressed in a red qi-pao [traditional Chinese clothing] greeted the two.

“Yes please.” Junhyung smiled to the waitress.

But to his surprise, the waitress just ignored the smile and brought them to a vacant table.

The waitress placed two red and golden colored menus on the table.

“Tea or water?” The waitress politely asked. She had a slight accent in her Korean.

“Water.”

“Tea.” The two said at the same time.

“Alright, one of each.” The waitress chuckled and left.

“Wow, the decorations are pretty.” Hyemi complimented.

The restaurant had beautiful red lanterns hanging from the ceiling.

The plates on the table were neatly prepared with chopsticks, napkins, spoons and forks.

The waitresses and waiters were dressed in beautiful traditional Chinese clothing.

The architect of the restaurant gave off a very traditional Chinese feeling.

“Yeah, this restaurant is my favorite. They have chefs that are actually from China. The food is really authentic.” Junhyung looked through the menu.

“Hm… what should I get?” Hyemi had trouble choosing what she wanted.

“Don’t worry. I’ll order for you.” Junhyung waved his hand in the air, signaling the waitress to take their order.

“What can I get for you?” The waitress whipped out a booklet and a pen.

“An order of Black Pepper Beef, Kung Pao Chicken, Pot stickers, and two bowls of rice.” Junhyung ordered, seeming professional.

“Okay, just a moment.” The waitress scribbled the orders down and collected the menus.

“So, do you like Chinese food?” Hyemi asked out of curiosity.

“Mm…” Junhyung tapped his chin. “Yeah, I order takeout sometimes…”

“Do you like Korean food or Chinese food?” Hyemi asked again.

“Of course Korean! I grew up eating it!” Junhyung laughed.

“Me too!” Hyemi beamed. ‘We have one thing in common; KOREAN FOOD!’

They were chatting about life, school, and what they like when the food was about to come.

“I smell delicious food.” Junhyung sniffed the air and his lips.

His prediction was true; the waitress was pushing a cart with delicious dishes on it.

Hyemi did the same; she sniffed the air and smelled delicious scents.

The waitress gave them a friendly smile and put the dishes they ordered on the table.

She put the bowls of rice in front of them and bowed.

“Enjoy.” She pushed the cart away, leaving the two pigs to eat.

“Let’s eat.” Junhyung said and picked up his chopsticks.

It was already evening when Hyemi and Junhyung finished their meal.

“I should get going.” Hyemi said.

“Okay, see ya tomorrow.” Junhyung waved and walked the other way.

‘I thought he would…’ Hyemi thought sadly.

Hyemi sighed and walked away.

‘This is our starting… right?’
