You stared out the window – water was beginning to flood your lavish garden like an ocean. It reminded you of the cruise you went on with your parents when you were six-years-old. That was the only vacation you had ever been on with your parents, and even then, you had to leave the cruise half way through because your father had a business emergency.  You released a deep sigh before turning away from the window. Chunji was happily playing with Poby, chasing him around the living room and through the kitchen. At least Poby likes him~ you thought to yourself! Poby’s first impressions are never wrong! You heard a loud rumble, except this time it wasn’t the thunder. Chunji stopped in his tracks and stared at with you with rounded eyes and a surprised expression.

                “Looks like somebody is hungry!” You chuckled.

                “What!? No that can’t be possible. I’m a cupid – I don’t have to eat.”

                You rolled your eyes “Cupid or not, your stomach is growling louder than the storm.”

                Chunji just pouted and glanced at you with innocent eyes from beneath his long lashes.

                “Looks like I’ll be making breakfast” you sighed. Chunji simply grinned and jumped up and down as he followed you into the kitchen. You opened you refrigerator. Being a teenager living without parents, it wasn’t unusual for you to have few groceries… but today was different. After yesterday’s grocery mishap your fridge was almost 100% empty. Shuffling through the drawers and past expired products, you nervously glanced at the “so-called” cupid whose stomach was still grumbling. Finally you found all the ingredients to make kimbap, including microwave rice (you didn’t even know how to use a rice cooker on your own). Kimbap might have been kind of a strange breakfast – its not like you were sending your kid on a field trip or something – but it would have to do. You micro-waved the rice and began spreading a thin layer on the seaweed before adding various fillings.

                “Wow~” Chunji sang giving you an enthusiastic thumbs-up “you’re totally a cooking pro!”

                “Not exactly” you shrugged looking down at the plate of kimbap you had placed before him. The kimbabs were all different sizes and the fillings were falling out, but Chunji’s eyes glittered as he took in the sight. Chunji popped the first misshapen piece in his mouth and his cheeks bulged like a chipmunk as he chewed slowly. You couldn’t help but smile at the cute sight!

                “Wow! Its so good!!!!!!” Chunji said with sincerity evident in his voice. “I can’t believe we don’t eat in heaven! The other cupids are missing out on so much!” Quickly, he stuffed two more pieces in his mouth.

                “Other cupids?” you questioned, tilting your head to the side.

                “Yeah!!!” Chunji struggled to speak with a full mouth “Der are oder coopids!! We get ashined to complete mishions by god.” He coughed and swallowed and you got up from your seat to get him a glass of chocolate milk. He washed the kimbap down and continued “Anyway, we get assigned these missions by god. I got assigned to you, so I’m your special cupid~” He grinned and winked. You just rolled your eyes but secretly you couldn’t help but blush that he called himself yours!

                “So there are other cupids…” you wondered aloud. Chunji just nodded and continued to ravenously devour the kimbap.

The rest of the day was pretty uneventful, you did some studying while Chunji entertained himself with the smallest things. Just before 6:00 pm the rain finally stopped and you ordered Chinese food for dinner. Chunji was utterly shocked at when he discovered that other foods besides kimbap existed.

                You threw away the trash and washed the dishes after dinner. “I’m going to go shower” you called out to Chunji who was too distracted by the TV to hear you.

                “Look! If I press the button the picture changes!!”

Rolling your eyes you made your way upstairs to the bathroom. Today you were in a particularly good mood, so you decided to use your strawberry shampoo and caramel conditioner! After towel-drying your hair you changed into your pajamas and made your  way back down to the living room.

“Hey Chunji! I’m going to bed” you yelled. Where is he you though. Glancing around the room you finally spotted him when you heard a loud snore. He was fast asleep on the sofa with Poby by his side. You tiptoed past him and shut off the TV. You admired the innocent beauty of his slumber! Before going up to your room you covered him with a blanket. Today, for the first time in a very long time, you did not feel lonely. You smiled to yourself before drifting off to sleep.
