I pleaded with Appa through my eyes, begging him to change his mind. He hesitated when he looked at me. Please, just a little bit more. . . . He shook his head and I felt like my heart dropped ten feet off the ground. No, no, please. Don’t, please, just think about it over and thorough. Please. I can’t take it.

Whatever he says, goes. Whatever Appa says as the final decision, it’s decided. So please, don’t . . . please, no. I don’t want this to happen.

“You are going to marry him,” Appa finally said and I blinked back the tears that threatened to spill, “and you will break up with Mir.”

I looked down. “Neh, Appa.”
