The Broken Umbrella
Description
It was a rainy night when she first saw him: the magical boy. She was losing things in her life as fast as sand was slipping through her fingers when he showed up. And gave her something worthwhile.
Hello~ Welcome to this short story! Yes, it IS a short story and I'll even tell you how many parts there are to it. 5! Haha~ I actually wrote this a while back and I've finally gotten to posting it up! It actually didn't start out as a fanfic but I wanted to share it and I'm on a Dae Hyun craze and just needed to write something with him in it xD Hm... What else to say?
Comments and subscribers are always loved, as you all know :) :) And I will be updating tomorrow
Anyways, I hope you enjoy it!!
I decided to add a sequel to this... Quite nervous about it, since I don't know if it'll turn out as well as the first few chapters... but why not? Lol. It's not a very long sequel, probably about 4-6 chapters at most, but hope you like it anyway! :)
Foreword
Dae Hyun felt a shiver going down his spine as he walked through the rain.
It had been a mistake to come out tonight, he realized, especially without a jacket. He figured it was only a quick trip - just to run an errand for his brother. Since it was summer, it should have been warm, but he was wrong. He got caught outside in the middle of a cold storm.
Stupid Hyung, he smiled thinking, as he shook his head. Dae Hyun twirled the umbrella in his hands, whistling softly. Turns out, the store his brother had sent him to was closed for the day and he had basically come out for nothing.
He should have stayed home, he realized again, as a gust of wind brought the chill right to his bone.
Yet besides the cold, the walk outside was not all that bad. On the contrary, it was refreshing; he felt free as the busy streets of Seoul were nearly empty for once...
Nearly empty except for...
Dae Hyun stopped in his tracks as he noticed something.
Someone rather...
There was a girl, drenched from head to toe by the storm. She was simply standing there. He didn't understand her as he watched her shaking, even from this distance; why didn't she go home and dry off? In front of her he noticed a ratty old umbrella, completely torn apart by the years it had held up the rain. As he stepped closer, he could see her expression telling him that she was crying, but he couldn't tell if it was tears falling from her eyes or the rain falling on her face.
He couldn't just leave her there...
He walked closer to her but the girl took no notice of him. He could hear her now, and her voice was pained and strained. She was shouting, though her voice was hoarse.
"...stupid umbrella! What use are...."
"...only umbrella I have..."
"...How can you break down on me like this?? In a storm like this??..."
"...Who's going to take care of me?..."
She dropped to the ground, meeting the wet floor with her knees. The sight of it all stung Dae Hyun's kind heart.
Why? He wondered as he watched her agony. He felt the greatest sympathy for the girl, but curiosity filled him too. He craved to know what her story was.
After all, it was just a broken umbrella...
