Jinki stretched and walked to the break room. He was working as a doctor in the best hospital in the town. What was a sad situation... it was Christmas day. On this day kids should be home with their families... but some of them couldn’t. They were stuck in the hospital because they were badly sick.

But it seemed that Jinki wasn’t alone. In the break room was sitting a young man who looked like a doctor too but he wasn’t in the same white uniform like Jinki.

“Hello,” Jinki smiled and bowed when the man put his book beside him and smiled, got up and bowed as well. “Hello, I thought I am going to have a shift alone,” the man chuckled and sat down on the couch again.

“I thought that too, I am Lee Jinki, I think that we’ve never met,” Jinki smiled and handed his hand to the man with blond hair.

That man stood up, smiled and accepted Jinki’s hand. “Nice to meet you, I am Kim Jonghyun, I am not exactly from kid’s wards, I work on an infection ward but it is now empty and for Christmas they offered me being on kid’s wards. I have no family so I decided to enjoy Christmas here, I was planning to dress up like Santa,” he grinned widely.

“Oh, that’s nice! I wasn’t even thinking about it, I have to keep an eye on kids, nurses are in their room watching it too,” Jinki smiled. “It will be my pleasure if I can help you,” he added smiling.

“Ewh, yes, there is old SeoSan who is pretty badmouth and old,” Jonghyun rolled his eyes and laughed.

“Ah, still same Seosan,” Jinki laughed. “So, I guess, that there are also LeeHi, Yui and YunSan,” Jinki chuckled and Jonghyun smirked.

“Yes, that’s true,” Hyun laughed and ran his hand in his hair. “Mh, if you want to help me with Santa, I asked my friend to get kid’s wish list and bought a few things, I hope it will make them happy,” Jonghyun giggled.

“Oh, your friend is working here?” Jinki smiled and Jonghyun smirked. “He is the boss of this hospital, we were on the same school, he helped me with it,” Hyun smiled.

“I see, that’s nice, so, when do you want to go on it?” Jinki smiled and Jonghyun patted his jawline with his forefinger.

“Hm, at night, around midnight, what do you think? Now we can go on a check,” Jonghyun smiled and Jinki nodded smiling.

They both went out from the break room to the corridor. “And why you don’t wear classic white uniform?” Jinki smiled.

“I have my usual blue one because I forgot to ask for one like you have,” Jonghyun laughed and shook his head when Jinki chuckled.

“There are twelve kids,” Jinki smiled and Jonghyun nodded. “Do you have an elf costume?” Jonghyun smirked and Jinki shook his head.

“I don’t have,” he blinked and Jonghyun smirked. “Great, I have, so you will be my little elf,” Hyun laughed and pinched Jinki’s cheek when he knocked on the door softly and walked in.

Jinki blinked in surprise, smiled and followed Jonghyun in. In the room were twelve kids who were looking sad. “Hello, we are nice, cute and amazing doctors, don’t look like this, are you watching tales?” Jonghyun smiled and looked at TV screen where was some Japanese tale.

“I want my mommy,” one little girl sobbed holding her plushie toy.

Jinki sighed and walked to her, her cheeks and smiled. “Your mommy will come tomorrow, she promised it,” Jinki smiled and looked at Jonghyun who was checking on other kids.

Jinki helped him and soon they left the room. “I just can’t get why some parents didn’t come here, though yes they were here during day but still,” Jonghyun sighed and shook his head.

“To our headmaster was said that it’s not allowed,” Jinki sighed too.

Jinki stopped by coffee machine and looked at Jonghyun. “I have in my bag some good cookies and coffee with caramel, I can make you one as a Christmas gift if you would like,” Jinki smiled and Jonghyun smiled widely. “I have muffins, so we can make a little big Christmas dinner!” Jonghyun laughed.

“I thought that Christmas dinner should be with salmon and rice and vegetables,” Jinki snorted and Jonghyun laughed.

“Well, we will have a special night then,” Jonghyun smirked and they both laughed.

Jinki prepared coffee with cookies and Jonghyun came with muffins. They were in the break room with their phones on. “Merry Christmas,” Jinki smiled. “Merry Christmas,” Jonghyun grinned and they both started celebrating Christmas and talking together and laughing too.

Before midnight they made last check that kids are sleeping and went to Hyun’s dress room where they both dressed up like Santa and Elf. Jonghyun also took a plastic tree which was decorated and a bag.

“Do you want to take that tree to the room?” Jonghyun smiled at Jinki who nodded smiling.

“I would love to,” he smiled and took it when they both in their costumes walked out and headed towards kid’s room.

It was dark room and kids were sleeping. They put the tree in the middle of room and Jonghyun placed under it gifts.

“Who… are you…” they heard a whisper and when they turned their heads, there was a little girl not sleeping and was watching them.

“I am Santa, this is my Elf, we came to give you gifts, but you can open it in the morning, little girl,” Jonghyun smiled walking closer to her and her cheeks.

“My mommy… she told me… that this year I won’t have Santa’s gifts,” the girl blinked and Jonghyun sat on the bed. “But now you see that you have, but you can open it in the morning or it would vanish, now, you should sleep… as soon as you fall asleep, too soon you will be able to look at your gifts,” Jonghyun smiled her head when Jinki sat on the other bed.

“I am Elf, hi cutie, don’t worry,” Jinki smiled and her too.

“Can you… tell me a tale?” she asked cutely and Jinki smiled when he began talking a tale.

When he ended, the girl was already sleeping. Jinki and Jonghyun left the room and walked into the dress room, they took of their costumes and took on their doctor’s uniform.

“That girl… she is so poor… her family was probably abusing her, she wouldn’t go back there, a social worker will come as soon as the girl will get better,” Jinki sighed sitting on Jonghyun’s armchair when Hyun sat on the table. “It’s so sad, I heard a bit of it…” Jonghyun sighed and shook his head.

“I wish we could help one day to these kids more,” Jinki nodded and looked at his watch. “It’s two am, we can rest a bit, I don’t think that there would be something needed,” Jinki smiled at Jonghyun.

“I have a couch here if you don’t mind sharing it with me, I don’t think that you will be fine with sleeping on armchair,” Jonghyun smiled and moved on the said couch where he sat down and looked at Jinki.

Jinki was a bit surprised but then smiled. “I can go in my room, I don’t want to disturb you,” Jinki smiled at Jonghyun who chuckled and shook his head.

“Don’t worry, I would love to have a company,” Jonghyun smiled and patted the place next to him.

Jinki smiled a bit, got up and walked to Jonghyun when he sat down next to him. They had calm night shift. It could be around seven o’clock when they woke up next to each other.

“How was your night?” Jinki asked while stretching his body. “Better than never,” Jonghyun smiled softly. “I suffer insomnia, this night I slept well, thank you, Jinki,” he added and Jinki blushed. “I am glad I could help you, what about going to see kids?” Jinki smiled and Jonghyun nodded when they went to the kid’s room where all twelve kids were slowly waking up and they all watched the Christmas tree in surprise.

“Good morning… oh, what is this! Santa was here!” Jonghyun smiled widely.

“He was! I saw him! He was here with Elf!” the girl squeaked and looked at both doctors who were smiling happily.

“Oh, really? Oh my, you have gotten a beautiful memory, what about unwrapping gifts?” Jonghyun winked and kids happily clapped their hands.

“I will give you a gift one by one,” Jinki smiled and with Jonghyun’s help they gave gifts to kids who started unwrapping gifts.

Jonghyun leant against Jinki putting his hand around Jinki’s shoulder. “Look at their faces, they look so much happy,” Jonghyun whispered smiling. “We made them happy, you made them happy, you are amazing, your idea was amazing,” Jinki smiled and looked at Jonghyun.

“Thank you, I am glad we could make it together,” Jonghyun smiled and looked at kids who were happy.

Then Jonghyun took a trash bin and put in it everything what should have been thrown out. It was almost time for breakfast so both men went out and into the hospital dining room where they took something to eat and drink when they talked a bit more and ate a lot.

“Are you going home?” Jinki asked smiling.

“Yes, I am. I will have a shift again at night but at my wards,” Jonghyun smiled softly and nodded. “What about… don’t you want to go in my place? I have also night shift and I would love to have a company,” Jinki smiled and Jonghyun smiled at him taking his hand. “I would love to, Merry Christmas,” Jonghyun smiled and Jinki squeezed Jonghyun’s hands in his.

“Merry Christmas, Jonghyun, I hope, we will spend also New Year together,” Jinki smiled and with that they both finished breakfast and by Jinki’s car they went away… and where? The direction of Jinki’s house.
