At the climax of the movie, you had fallen asleep. Your head nodded off and landed on Himchan’s shoulder. He stopped laughing and looked at you. “Oh. Yeojin is asleep.”

Daehyun got up right away and lifted you up. He carried you towards the stairs. “

Tuck her in warmly!” Yongguk ordered.

Daehyun carried you to your room and laid you down on the bed. He pulled the blankets around you so that you were warm and safe. His eyes shifted to your face and expression softened. Slowly, Daehyun pulled his mask off and set it down on the bed. *Song Yeojin, how can you forget? It was me that gave you the angel doll…*

Flashback:

“Everyone, this is Song Yeojin. She is ten years old and she is part of our new family now! So please welcome her and treat her well!” The warden smiled welcomingly.

The five older boys of Sunshine Orphanage looked up.

“Wow! So cute! Look at her braids!” Himchan pointed with a toothy smile. Yongguk tilted his head *She looks lost. I don’t blame her.* Youngjae just went back to reading his book.

Daehyun gazed at the little girl by the door. She was wearing overalls and was clutching onto her pink backpack. There was recognizable confusion and fear in her eyes. *That’s how I felt when I first came here, too.*

“Should we go help her?” Jongup asked. “Why not?!” Himchan hopped off the desk and walked towards her. Jongup quickly followed him.

You looked around the orphanage. There were many children here. None of them seemed to want to help you. *What am I supposed to do? These are al new people. I miss granny.* Tears welled up in your eyes.

At that moment, a voice chirped, “Hiya, new girl!”

You looked up fearfully. A boy with tousled brown hair and a sweatshirt waved at you. “My name is Kim Himchan and this is Jongup.” He pointed to a boy wearing checkered shirt. He shyly waved back, “Annyeong~”

“A-annyeong.” You gave a feeble wave.

“Why did you come here?” Himchan asked.

You were taken aback by the question but answered, “My grandma passed away.”

“Aww, that’s too bad.” Himchan pouted.

“It’s okay. My parents passed away and I had to come here, too.” Jongup comforted. *These boys are pretty nice…* You sniffled. “What’s going on?” Youngjae came over and blinked at you. He pulled out a hankie from his pocket and held it out, “Your tears.”

“Oh. Thanks.” You took the hankie and wiped the tears away.

“Move out of the way.” A rather deep voice said. You looked up and gasped a little. There was a tall, rough looking boy with dark eyebrows. You gulped as he looked you up and down. At first it seemed as if he was going to make fun of you. But his expression changed and he held a hand out, “Welcome. My name is Bang Yongguk and I’m the oldest. You can call me oppa.”

“Call me oppa, too.” Himchan pointed to himself with a big smile. Yongguk gave you a gummy smile, which made you relax.

You shook his hand, “My name is Yeojin. It’s nice to meet you all…”

While the boys fussed over you, Daehyun slinked off by himself. Yongguk finally noticed one of his friends were missing. “Where did Daehyun go?” *Daehyun?* You wondered. He looked around, “Jung Daehyun?”

“Maybe he went to the bathroom.” Youngjae shrugged.

 There was a light tinkering of a bell. “What’s that?” You asked.

“That means it is time for lunch! Let’s go! I’m starving!” Himchan led the way. Youngjae and Yongguk followed him. Jongup was about to go with them also but stopped and looked back. You were staying behind, unsure of whether to follow or not. The last thing you wanted to be was a best.

Jongup gave you a friendly smile, “Come on, Yeojin.” You looked up, surprised that he would call your name like he had known you for years. Jongup held out a warm hand. You paused and slipped your hand into his. He led you towards the lunch room.

You sat between him and Himchan. “Looks like we’re having curry! Hurray!” Himchan cheered.

The caretakers brought the curry. You quietly nibbled on your food, only answering if one of the boys asked you a question. You were done first and excused yourself to use the bathroom. You turned the corner into another hallway. There were many doors. Before you knew it, you were lost. *Where is the bathroom and how can I go back to everyone else?* You turned around and stopped.

There was one boy sitting on the floor with a cracked CD player in his hand. He pressed the play button and put the headphone to his ears. *What is he doing out here alone?* You walked up to him and tapped his shoulder.

 Startled, Daehyun looked up. His eyes widened. *It’s the new girl! Crap! In 3 seconds, she’s going to run away from me!*

 Instead of running away, you asked, “Can you tell me where the bathroom is?”

*What?!* Flabbergasted, Daehyun shifted his gaze up and looked into your eyes. *How come she’s not running away or making fun of me or even cringing? She’s looking at my face, isn’t she? Doesn’t she notice anything?*

But if you did, you didn’t react. You just waved your hand in front of his face, “Hello? Can you hear me?”

Daehyun shook his head to snap out of his thoughts.

“Can you tell me where the bathroom is…? I really have to go bad.” You bit your bottom lip. Daehyun pointed down the hallway. “To your left.” He whispered.

“Thanks!” You raced down the hallway and darted into the bathroom with a loud bang of the door. *Either she really had to go or she wanted to get away from me.* Daehyun put the headphone over his ears again.

Five minutes later, he felt another tap on his shoulder. Daehyun pushed the headphone off his head and looked up. “Which way back to the lunch room…?” You sheepishly asked.

Daehyun pointed in another direction. “Oh. Thanks.” You turned to go but stopped and looked back. *Is he going to stay here by himself?* You stooped down next to him.

Daehyun looked up at you again *What now?*

You searched his face then slightly tilted your head. “Did you eat?”

Daehyun blinked, taken aback by your question.

“I don’t think I saw you at the lunch table… wait, are you Daehyun?” You asked. His eyes widened *How does she know?* “Your friends were looking for you earlier.” You stated. *Oh.* His shoulders deflated. He thought you had been psychic for a moment.

“Shouldn’t you eat? I heard that orphanages don’t feed you after meal times. Is that true? If that’s the case, you should take the chance to eat when you can.” You smartly advised.

Daehyun looked away and put his headphone back on. However, the music wasn’t playing. You scratched your head *Weird boy…* When you saw that he had no intention of going with you, you just stood up and waved, “Then I’ll see you later.”

His eyes widened at those 5 words. Daehyun looked up and watched you walk away.

“Then I’ll see you later.”

*Did she really say that to me? No girl has ever wanted to talk twice to me, nevertheless even look at me. People are either teasing me or avoiding me. Except for Yongguk hyung, Himchan hyung, Youngjae, and Jongup, no one has really accepted me for who I am. So it’s strange that this new girl in my life would do so easily…*

That made him think.
