Chapter Three

Lights Off

As he shifted, he knew that something was off. The feel of the sheets wasn’t that same. The lighting was brighter. There was a fan running. This wasn’t his room. SeungHyun opened his eyes, their attention landing on Yongbae who was still sleeping next to him, yesterday’s events suddenly all coming back to him. He shifted onto his side, bending his elbow to prop his head up. He watched as Yongbae’s chest rose with every breath he took, slow and even. This image of him he was seeing wasn’t like the Taeyang he saw on stage. Here in this very moment, at this close proximity, he saw how innocent Yongbae was. Why would anyone want to hurt him? All he wanted to do now was shield him and protect him from all the things that were haunting him.

SeungHyun reached up and gently brushed his finger tips along his forehead. The younger man stirred and scrunched up his nose, slowly opening his eyes. SeungHyun smiled,

“Hey.” Yongbae covered his mouth as he yawned,

“Hi.” He replied, stretching his shoulders, “What time is it?” SeungHyun glanced at the alarm clock on the desk. He frowned,

“It’s ten.” He said. Yongbae sat up,

“What! Didn’t we have schedules early?” he exclaimed. SeungHyun sat up slowly, the complete opposite of Younbae.

“Calm down. Something must have happened. The guys would have have come to wake us up if we were late.” He said. Yongbae threw the covers off of him and stood up, running towards the door,

“Or they could have left us here, leaving us to face the anger of our managers!” he said. SeungHyun chuckled,

“I highly doubt they did that.” He said as Yongbae swung the door open, only to reveal Jiyong, hand midair, ready to knock, his eyes falling straight on SeungHyun.

Awkward.

“Um…hi.” Jiyong said, his eyes still permanently fixed on the older man.

“Do you need something?” SeungHyun asked raising an eyebrow. Jiyong glanced at Yongbae, then back at SeungHyun.

“I…I just wanted to let Yongbae know that our schedules were cancelled. I was headed to your room next, but I can see that wont be necessary anymore.” He said, the last part said a little harsher than intended.

“Oh.” Yongbae said, “I guess you were right SeungHyun.” He said, smiling towards him.

“Mhmm.” He said, looking intently at Jiyong. Yongbae could feel the tension spreading throughout the room.

“Do you want something to eat?” he asked, “I’ll make it.” He offered, trying to break the silence. SeungHyun broke his focus on Jiyong and smiled at Yongbae,

“Sure, if you don’t mind.” He said. Yongbae shook his head,

“I don’t.” he said as he gently walked past Jiyong, who couldn’t stop staring at SeungHyun.

Once he was sure Yongbae was gone, Jiyong walked into the room and closed the door behind him, walking hastily over to SeungHyun and yanking him out of the bed, breathing a sigh of relief when he saw that he was wearing all of his clothes. SeungHyun glanced at him slightly amused,

“What are you doing?” he asked. Jiyong clenched his fists,

“What are YOU doing?!” he yelled.

“I was just sleeping.” He answered simply. Jiyong shoved him,

“What did you do to him?” he yelled.

“G, I didn’t DO anything. We were just sleeping.” He said firmly.

“Don’t give me that, he nearly runs out of the room looking flustered and your sitting there all smug in his bed!”

“Why do you even care?” SeungHyun asked.

“I-“

“Because the last time I checked, you gave up the right to be mad about someone else in the same bed as him. The day you broke up with him, was the day that you handed him over to me to fix. I’m fixing him, so back the hell off.” He shouted, walking closer to Jiyong, making himself look taller. Jiyong shook his head,

“You’re not fixing him. You’re messing with him. You’re giving him false hope. You’re not gay TOP.” He said, putting emphasis on ‘gay’.

“You’re right G. I never did like guys. But cleaning up after your mess made me realize that there is more than just the Yongbae that followed you everywhere and let you get away with whatever you wanted.” He said.

“What’s that supposed to mean?” Jiyong hissed.

“You did whatever you wanted G, no matter how much it would hurt him. Do you honestly believe that he doesn’t know you cheated on him?”

“What?” Jiyong asked quietly, his face falling.

“SeungHyun stop.” Jiyong and SeungHyun turned around and saw Yongbae at the door. “That’s enough.” He said. SeungHyun looked at him apologetically. “Your food is ready.” He said, turning around.

“Bae, wait.” Jiyong said, catching Yongbae’s wrist. He could feel the younger man tense under his touch, “Bae, did you really know?” he asked silently. Yongbae closed his eyes; he could feel his hands start to tremble. He hated feeling this weak. He didn’t want to talk about this. “Bae, I never wanted you to find out.” Jiyong said. Yongbae’s eyes snapped open and he whirled around,

“You never wanted me to find out!?” he shouted. “What about and apology that you DID it! Did I mean that little to you! Was I just an easy lay?”

“Bae-“

“Stop. Just stop. I’m done G. Do whatever you want, I don’t care anymore.” He said, quieter than before. Yongbae turned around and walked out the door, not even sparing a glance at SeungHyun.

Jiyong looked like he was on the brink of tears, which was a new feeling for their fearless leader. SeungHyun shook his head,

“You don’t get to be upset about this G. Not after what you did to him.” And with that, SeungHyun followed Yongbae out the door.

---

“Breakfast was good.” SeungHyun said to Yongbae who was sitting next to him at the kitchen table. He looked up from his water glass,

“Did I really follow him around?” he asked.

“What?” SeungHyun asked, slightly taken aback.

“What you said back there.” Yongbae specified.

“Oh.” SeungHyun said. Just how much of that had he heard?

“I mean, I guess I did…but did I look that pathetic to everyone else?” he asked.

“Absolutely not.” SeungHyun said. “Bae, I just wanted to hurt him.” He said. Yongbae smiled sadly,

“But most of it was true.” He said softly.

“Bae, listen to me. You didn’t look pathetic. You never did. You were the best boyfriend that you could have been; Jiyong was the pathetic one here. Not you.” SeungHyun said, placing a strong hand on the younger’s knee. Yongbae blushed and looked away, smiling,

“Thanks Hyung.”

“Aish, stop thanking me!”
