Going Out

Miracles Come True

At some point during that night, Ryeowook had stopped counting how many times he woke up. It seemed like even the softest sound could wake him up and there was nothing he could do against it. Also, there was way too much space in this bed and the walls seemed to be irritatingly far away. He couldn’t find a position that he felt comfortable and properly protected in.

The sun slowly rose, letting light enter his bedroom through the windows where he had forgotten to close the curtains.

When his phone vibrated, he gave up and rolled over once more, snatching the small device from the nightstand to check who it was. It took him a moment to remember how to do everything, then he was able to unlock the phone and also found his text messages, seeing Hangeng had sent him one.

Good morning, Wookie~ How was your first night?

Ryeowook smiled softly, easily able to hear the older’s voice in his head as he read that sentence. With a soft sigh, though, he decided to answer honestly.

Good morning. Not that good, actually… I couldn’t sleep well…

The answer came back quickly. Why not?

There’s too much space here… and every little noise woke me up tonight… Ryeowook stared at those words for a couple of seconds before he hit the ‘send’ button. He didn’t like worrying Hangeng, but he also didn’t want to lie to the older.

The answer came back faster than he had expected. That’s normal. Wait a couple of nights and you won’t notice the sounds anymore. And don’t forget what we told you about stuffed animals!

The young cat hybrid whined at the device when he read the words his close friend had written. He disliked the thought of getting a stuffed animal since he had learned those were only something for little children. On the other hand, though, he knew now it had helped Heechul in the end…

He shook his head lightly. No, really, he wasn’t a child anymore! I don’t know about that…

Why not?

I’m not a child anymore, hyung.

You do realize, though, that adults also sleep with stuffed animals, right? Maybe not as many and maybe none of them would say it out loud, but there are still some who do.

Ryeowook stared at Hangeng’s text, unsure what to respond to it. He really didn’t want to get a stuffed animal. That would be too humiliating and embarrassing! No, he definitely couldn’t do it! Those others probably had their stuffed animals since they were younger, so that was something entirely different. He had never had anything like that…

Before he was able to figure out anything he could answer, another text came in. Really, Wookie, think about it. If you go to the store with Kyuhyun, just tell others who stare that you’re getting the toy for a younger brother or cousin. But it does help. – Heechul

The cat hybrid shook his head lightly at Heechul’s message, finding it odd to hear the older admit it. He was about to type a response when the third message in a row came in. Don't you ever dare tell anyone about this!!!!!

Ryeowook couldn’t help but smile. That sounded a lot more like his best friend! Don’t worry, hyung. Thank you.

He put the phone aside and lay his head down again. He still didn’t want to get a stuffed animal. Even though he might be able to fool others, he’d have to tell Kyuhyun about how unhappy he was about the amount of space he had, and that was the last thing he wanted to do! No, he should be grateful towards Kyuhyun, he shouldn’t let the other think he was unhappy or anything. He was already bothersome enough for not being as cheerful as anyone else would have been in his situation…

He spent the next while pondering about what to do, ignoring the soft buzzing of his phone when another message came in since he was certain it would simply be Heechul or Hangeng again—he couldn’t hear anything from the other room so far, after all.

Since he didn’t know what else he could do and was certain he’d get too distracted by his thoughts to read, he tried to figure out what he should make for breakfast. The memory of Kyuhyun’s surprised and slightly mistrusting face when he saw what kinds of groceries Ryeowook was getting popped into his mind again and he couldn’t help but smile. He figured Kyuhyun hadn’t gone grocery shopping often when he had still lived at his parents’ house and afterwards he had only gotten all of the unhealthy stuff, but he had probably never cooked properly—unlike what Ryeowook was doing. On the other hand, he didn’t really feel like making a big breakfast that morning either since he hadn’t slept well, so he figured heating up some buns would do.

He continued to ponder over meal plans until his phone buzzed again, followed by the sound of Kyuhyun getting up in the other room. Ryeowook curiously sat up and checked his phone to see he had gotten a message from Hangeng a while ago and another one from Kyuhyun just now. He unlocked his phone and checked to see what the younger man had written.

Good morning :) I don’t even know if you have your phone on… In case you do: Come meet me downstairs when you’re awake ;)

Ryeowook had absolutely no idea what to make of the combinations with the parentheses, but he figured they had some kind of sense. Hearing Kyuhyun was only in the bathroom, the cat hybrid got up and looked through his wardrobe to see what he could wear for that day, then he got dressed and went downstairs. Arriving in the kitchen, he was about to turn on the oven, but then his hand froze over the button. He didn’t even know if Kyuhyun wanted to have breakfast right after getting up! What if the other usually wasn’t hungry in the morning?

Pouting, he sat down at the kitchen table, unsure what to do until Kyuhyun was ready.

He subconsciously listened to the soft noises from upstairs until he could hear the other walk down the stairs. He looked up and saw Kyuhyun turn around the corner, wearing a simple T-shirt and pajama pants, running a hand through his still messy hair. He came to a stand after a couple of seconds, simply staring at Ryeowook, and it was obvious Kyuhyun hadn’t expected this.

Insecurely, Ryeowook raised a hand and forced his lips into a shy smile. “Hey.”

Hey. I didn’t know you were up already.”

I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to surprise you like this…” Ryeowook looked down, fidgeting uncomfortably on his chair.

No, no, don’t worry about that. I should’ve expected you to not sleep too well on your first night here,” Kyuhyun argued immediately.

The young hybrid wasn’t sure whether to feel like a failure all over again or be grateful for the other’s understanding words, so he decided to avoid the topic entirely. “Do you want me to make breakfast now? Or are you not hungry yet?”

You planned something for breakfast?” Kyuhyun sounded dumbfounded.

Ryeowook nodded. “Of course I did! We have buns that I could heat up and if you’d like, I could make some eggs with them.”

When he looked up, Kyuhyun still had an expression of trying to catch up with reality. Eventually, he shrugged in a slightly helpless manner and nodded. “Sure, I guess… Will you need help with anything?”

Grateful that he was finally able to do something, Ryeowook got up quickly and put the oven on preheat. He already knew the kinds of buns he had packed into the shopping cart before, so he didn’t have to think much about how to make them. “No, please don’t worry about it,” he replied as he turned to face Kyuhyun for a moment, then he turned back to the cupboards, taking a couple of tries until he found the right one with the bread and the buns he had been looking for.

Would you like eggs as well?” he repeated his question from earlier more directly and glanced at Kyuhyun again before he continued his search, this time looking for a pair of scissors to open the package of the buns with.

Umm… sure…”

How do you prefer them? Hard boiled or soft on the inside? Or maybe scrambled?”

Right now soft, please,” Kyuhyun answered more confidently this time.

Me too,” Ryeowook revealed. Finally finding the pair of scissors he had been looking for, he opened the package and then continued his search. It was easier to find cooking pots, so he prepared one of them and then let it rest on the stove until it would be time to turn it on.

Instead of staying still, though, he began to set the table. “What would you like on your buns?”

Kyuhyun shrugged lightly. “You bought a bunch of stuff I’ve never even tried, so just get some cheese or sausage and also something sweeter and I’ll just see what I like.”

I’m sorry… You should’ve stopped me.”

No, no. Don’t worry about it. What you got looked pretty good to me. If there had been anything among it that I knew I don’t like, I would have put it back,” the younger man assured him.

Ryeowook looked up doubtfully, but seeing the sincerity in Kyuhyun’s eyes, he hoped it was okay to trust him with that. “Alright. Tell me if there’s anything about it that you don’t like and I’ll make sure not to get it again.” Having grabbed a few items from the fridge that he hoped both of them would enjoy, he put them on the table before he went back to the counter.

You’ll remember it just like that?”

If it’s not too much..? Otherwise I’ll just start making a list.”

Kyuhyun chuckled. “I hope that won’t be necessary. And the knives are in the drawer on your left.”

Ryeowook blushed when he knew the other had realized he had once again forgotten about the order, but he moved left and opened the drawer without a further comment, getting out two knives and three spoons for the eggs and the jam he had picked.

Ah, by the way, how many clothes do you have?”

Huh?” Ryeowook looked up at Kyuhyun in complete confusion, causing the other to blush lightly, if he wasn’t mistaken. He quickly turned around again to see the oven was ready, so he got out the buns and carefully put them into the oven instead.

I just mean… Until now you’ve been living together with many others, if I got it right. Now it’s just the two of us, so we won’t be able to do the laundry as often. That’s why I was asking. We might need to get more clothes for you because of this situation.”

Ah, right…” Ryeowook closed the oven and the stove, then he looked around. “Where is the salt again?”

In the cupboard all the way on the right.”

Ryeowook went to the cupboard Kyuhyun had described and got the salt out, then he poured a bit of it into the water meant for the eggs. “I’ll check later how many shirts I have, but you might be right… Also, I don’t really have anything for formal events,” he admitted, though he wasn’t even sure if he’d need to go to anything where he’d have to wear a suit.

Right, I kept you from unpacking yesterday, didn’t I? I’m sorry.”

Please don’t apologize. It’s completely fine.” The cat hybrid closed the lit again and put the salt away, then he went to the fridge once more. “How many eggs would you like?”

Two, please. Either way, once you’ve unpacked and you know if you’ll need anything else, let’s go to town and at least get you a suit, alright? I’m not sure either if you’ll need anything fancy, but having one is always better than not having one.”

Okay. How many shirts do you think I should have?”

I guess it’ll be good if you could cover two weeks… Just in case.”

Alright.” The thought of going outside for the shopping made Ryeowook feel uncomfortable, even though he knew it was necessary. He had never really been a fan of online shopping, even though he knew Heechul loved it. He himself had never understood the principle, especially when Heechul once again complained about how the sizes had been titled wrong or the colors weren’t the same as they had been on the pictures. At least when you went to the store physically, you could be assured no such mistakes would happen. Nevertheless, he didn’t really like to go shopping, especially not because it always meant someone else was spending even more money on him.

You don’t seem very enthusiastic about going…” Kyuhyun observed.

Ryeowook let his head hang. “I’m sorry.”

There’s no need for you to always apologize. People are different. Just because one person likes something doesn’t mean the other person has to like it, too,” the younger replied and got up. The cat hybrid looked up to see the other get boards and egg cups, so he quickly moved to get a small salt shaker.

After breakfast, Ryeowook went back upstairs and into his room, quickly answered Hangeng’s text message, then he unpacked his suitcase and his bag. It was only when he saw how much space was still left in the closet that he realized he really didn’t own a lot of clothes. He had always thought they were an average number, but now they seemed to disappear in the huge piece of furniture. His few other belongings also found a lot of space for themselves, making the room look unoccupied even after he was done.

After looking around the place that was still unfamiliar to him and where he felt like he didn’t belong, he put the bag and the suitcase under the bed and left his room to knock on the door across the hallway that Kyuhyun had left slightly ajar. The younger man looked up and smiled. “Are you done?” Ryeowook nodded softly, so Kyuhyun continued, “Do you think it’ll be a good idea to go shopping?”

I guess so…” the slightly older man mumbled and looked down in embarrassment. He really didn’t feel comfortable with the idea of going shopping and the fact that everything that had been normal before was changing more and more.

Are you ready to go now?” Kyuhyun asked, interrupting the cat hybrid’s thoughts.

The latter looked up and nodded. They would either go now or later, it wouldn’t really make a difference anyway, so they could as well go in the morning, couldn’t they?

Kyuhyun nodded and got up from where he had been sitting at his desk. “Let’s go then,” he said and went downstairs. Ryeowook followed him and they both got ready, then they left.

This won’t cost you a lot, will it?” Ryeowook asked quietly as they were on their way downstairs in the elevator.

Kyuhyun looked at him in surprise, then he shook his head. “No, don’t worry. Like I said, I go to work.”

But you’ll also have to pay for all of this and for university and everything…”

The slightly younger man laughed softly. “Just because I don’t live with my parents anymore doesn’t mean they don’t support me financially. They know I wouldn’t be able to afford all of this completely on my own, so they help me out. But in order to start paying my bills on my own and to have better chances later on, my father advised me to take on a job now.”

But won’t I be a bother then? I mean, you’ll have to buy more food and everything…” Ryeowook mumbled and looked down at the floor unhappily.

Kyuhyun gently nudged his upper arm, making the hybrid jump. “Hey, I could’ve also decided to live on my own, couldn’t I? But I didn’t. So don’t worry about any of that, alright?”

Ryeowook at the floor and nodded, but he still wasn’t convinced entirely. “Your parents don’t seem to think very highly of me…” he mumbled, hoping Kyuhyun wouldn’t become upset because he said that out loud.

Don’t worry about them. They’re still the old generation of hybrid owners. In their opinion, a hybrid is only there to serve and keep track of the household. If they’re bored, the hybrid also needs to be able to entertain them. They haven’t realized a new time has started,” Kyuhyun replied casually.

The elevator doors opened and they stepped out of the small cabin. Ryeowook remained quiet as they went to the car, thinking about the way he had been raised in all of those shelters except for Hangeng’s—how everyone had paid attention to exactly the points mentioned by Kyuhyun. They had needed to be able to cook, clean, if there was so much as a dust flake to be found in the evening, it had happened frequently that the shelter master would yell at them, sometimes even beat them up for it. They had had to learn at least one classical instrument to entertain people at parties if necessary, of course playing only soft melodies that could be heard in the background but that wouldn’t require someone to pay attention to them. Until he had seen Hangeng and Heechul together, he had thought that was just the way a hybrid had to live—as a servant and in eternal appreciation towards the one who decided to take on responsibility for them.

Are you alright?” Kyuhyun asked when they were seated and Ryeowook could feel the other’s eyes on him, so he looked up with a brave smile.

Yes, please don’t worry.”

He could see the younger man didn’t believe him, but at least he didn’t ask any further and instead turned the ignition key and focused on taking them out of the parking area. Once they were on Seoul’s busy streets, Kyuhyun spoke up again, “What about your parents? Do they know you’re with me?”

Ryeowook looked up from his lap, eyeing Kyuhyun in complete confusion at that question, wondering if the other was actually serious about it.

When the silence dragged on, the younger man glanced at him and then frowned. “What?”

Nothing…”

Almost a minute passed by until Kyuhyun seemed to realize Ryeowook wouldn’t say anything else. “Aren’t you gonna answer my question?”

That’s not it… I’m sorry… I guess…” The cat hybrid shook his head, taking a couple of seconds to put his thoughts into an order, yet when he said his next words out loud, he realized for the first time how strange they sounded, “I don’t have parents.”

Kyuhyun’s frown deepened and he glanced over at Ryeowook once more. “What do you mean, you don’t have parents? Everyone has parents! You know, you wouldn’t be alive otherwise.”

The cat hybrid looked down. “Maybe that’s normal for you, but I don’t have parents. Someone must have given birth to me, but I don’t have parents in the sense you’re referring to. Sungmin-hyung, Heechul-hyung, and Hangeng-hyung are my family.”

Ryeowook could feel the young man’s eyes on him again, but this time he didn’t look up to be sure. “I… I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to…” Kyuhyun fell silent, apparently needing a moment to progress what he had just heard. When he spoke up again, his voice was quiet and Ryeowook thought he could hear something like sadness or maybe pity in it, “I didn’t know that. Is that normal among hybrids, that you don’t know your parents? And is that why you didn’t want to leave?”

The cat hybrid shrugged softly. “Some of us know them, some don’t. And it’s true that I enjoyed staying at Hangeng’s shelter,” he replied softly, not wanting to say directly that he would have also preferred staying there opposed to leaving with Kyuhyun. How could he say something so rude and direct towards the one who was now doing so much to him and whom he knew he had to be thankful toward?

So… if you don’t know your parents… what about the concept of a family or love? You said the others at the shelter are like your family, but…”

You’re wondering how I can compare them to a family when I’ve never been part of one?” Ryeowook asked when Kyuhyun seemed to be unable to find the right words to finish his sentence.

Yes. I’m sorry, saying it like this sounds unfair.”

The hybrid shook his head. “No, I can understand why you would ask. I thought about it for a very long time as well, whether I could call them something like my family, but from what I hear and read about the definition of family, they’re the closest I’ve ever come to having one,” he replied, his tone even, not betraying any emotions. Those were questions he had been ready and waiting for even though he hadn’t been eager to answer them.

So you really only know the world through your books?” Ryeowook shrugged in response, certain Kyuhyun would see it, and apparently he had because he replied, “I promise you I’ll change that! I may not be able to show you everything you’ve ever read or dreamed about, but I can at least show you a couple of things! I suppose you’ve never been outside Korea?”

No, I haven’t.”

Let’s go on vacation at some point then! We could simply start by going to Jeju because that will be relaxing and then we could also go to other countries at some point.”

Other countries? Like… Japan? Or China?” Ryeowook knew those two countries were the closest ones aside from North Korea, but that was also pretty much everything he knew about geography aside from small fragments he had learned from the news or shows on TV.

For example, yes. We can go anywhere you’d like to go,” Kyuhyun replied, sounding determined.

The cat hybrid looked up, wondering once again where the other got that energy and positivity from when he himself seemed to be lacking both of those characteristics entirely—at least at the moment. Kyuhyun seemed to be confident about everything… It was almost like a miracle.

When the silence dragged on, Kyuhyun the radio for the rest of the drive. Ryeowook knew none of the songs that were played, but he also didn’t dislike them. He listened curiously when the news came on, wondering about the things happening in the outside world that never seemed to affect him or have anything to do with him.

When they arrived at the mall, Kyuhyun parked the car and Ryeowook looked around curiously once they got out of the vehicle. Usually, he had gotten his clothes from second hand stores or one of the other hybrids had grown out of a shirt or a pair of pants and passed it on to him or one of the others. Those things were very common in shelters, but because of that he had never been to the mall before. Even before entering, he could tell everything would look incredibly new and big!

So, what kinds of clothes do you like?” Kyuhyun asked after letting Ryeowook just stare at the building for a moment.

The cat hybrid quickly turned to face the younger man with slightly widened eyes. “Umm… anything that’s not expensive will do,” he replied hesitantly.

Kyuhyun nodded and thought for a moment. “Do you like button up shirts?”

Aren’t they very formal?” the slightly older male asked back hesitantly.

The former shrugged. “They can be, but they can also be casual. Why don’t we get one or two for you just in case? We’ll need some anyway for your suit. I guess then we’ll stick to more casual and comfortable clothes otherwise?”

If you don’t mind?”

Kyuhyun shook his head. “I want you to feel comfortable. Whatever you like to wear will be entirely fine. I also usually wear casual clothes on the weekends and I’ll change out of my formal clothes when I get home. To be honest, I’ll usually end up wearing sweatpants when I don’t need to go out again!” He laughed softly.

But… aren’t they made for doing sports?” Ryeowook asked hesitantly and glanced up at Kyuhyun.

The other just shrugged once again. “Originally, yes, but it seems like someone found out they’re also comfortable if you really just want to relax, so at some point more and more people started to follow that trend. You’ll see what I mean once you feel comfortable enough around me to start wearing sweatpants, too!” he assured the other with a warm smile. “Now let’s go, alright?”

Ryeowook nodded and followed Kyuhyun into the mall. He found out there were shops explicitly for humans and some that only made clothes for hybrids, some that offered both, a lot of food stores, too many smells around for him to really pick up on one for more than a few seconds. And it was incredibly noisy and full! At one point, he actually lost Kyuhyun and almost panicked until the younger man was right by his side again. He couldn’t even express how uncomfortable he felt with all of those people so close around him, brushing against him, some even cursing at him for not having watched his path. Whenever he looked up, he could tell Kyuhyun was tempted to just wrap an arm around him or hold his hand, but Ryeowook was glad he did neither. At least inside the stores it was usually calmer, leaving him eager to enter one and unwilling to leave it again.

It was mainly Kyuhyun picking shirts and also a pair of pants and sweatpants since Ryeowook was too uncomfortable to clearly state an opinion for or against anything that Kyuhyun picked, though he did come to the realization that the other picked things that he could most probably get used to wearing. None of them seemed to attract any attention and at the same time they looked rather comfortable and like they would fit him, probably better even than some of the things he owned.

After what felt like an eternity but had actually only been a little over an hour, they were back in the car. Once they left the parking lot, Kyuhyun glanced at Ryeowook who had leaned back in his seat, tired and worn out.

You look drained…” the younger commented. “Remind me to never travel with you during holiday season.” Ryeowook opened his eyes to look at the other with an eyebrow raised questioningly. Needing no further explanation, Kyuhyun explained, “You know, I don’t think you have, but many children go to school and then some go further to university like I do. But of course they don’t go to school all the time, they also have vacations and are off on holidays like Independence Day,” he explained.

Ah, right,” Ryeowook mumbled, remembering he knew a little bit about that. Then he realized something else. “Many?”

Yes. Some children are like you and learn at home. In the US for example that’s rather common. And in other countries, the children can’t go to school because their families are too poor and have to send the child to work or education is generally too expensive,” he explained.

The cat hybrid thought about what Kyuhyun had said for a moment, realizing he actually liked the thought that he wasn’t all that different from other people regarding this matter. “But those who have to go to work, they surely also learn a lot from… their parents, don’t they?”

I would think so. They probably at least learn the things they’ll need for their life and to earn money,” Kyuhyun replied.

That’s good.”

When they arrived back at the apartment, Ryeowook took some time to figure out how to operate the washing machine with Kyuhyun’s help and then got a set of laundry started including many of his new clothes and also a good part of Kyuhyun’s.

The rest of the day went by calmly. Ryeowook made lunch and dinner for them and they started watching a series Kyuhyun had already watched the first episode of but that he liked enough to watch it again with Ryeowook so he could catch on to what was happening. Despite figuring he liked the series as well, he couldn’t understand why Kyuhyun adored the female lead so much. To him, she was just like any other woman, even though he didn’t say that out loud.

That evening, Ryeowook called Hangeng again.

Yeoboseyo?” The cat hybrid couldn’t help but smile at the familiar sound of his friend’s voice and he slowly relaxed.

Hello, hyung. It’s me.”

Wookie! You’re calling earlier today.”

I know. I’m sorry it got so late last night.”

It’s fine. Hang on a second,” Hangeng said and his next words were more quiet, making Ryeowook figure the older was covering the phone’s microphone. “Rella, come on over! It’s Wookie.”

Wookie baby?” another voice resonated. “Put your phone on speaker!”

A couple of seconds went by, then Ryeowook could hear Hangeng’s voice again. “Wookie?”

I’m here.”

Good. How are you doing?”

Ryeowook was a little taken aback by that question. “Umm… fine, I guess. We went to the mall today…”

He went to the mall with you?” Heechul interrupted him in disbelief. “Out of all people, with you? Has he not figured out yet that you’re uncomfortable in crowds? Seriously, someone should have warned him!”

The younger cat hybrid smiled softly at his best friend’s worry. “Don’t worry, hyung. Like I said, I’m fine. It was alright in the stores and he made sure I wouldn’t get separated from him. He does know I’m not a big fan of skinship, but I think he also realized after today that I just generally don’t like masses of people.”

If it was just you not liking them, things would still be easier,” Heechul commented unhappily.

Hyung, I don’t have an anxiety," Ryeowook replied with a sigh—they had talked about that topic countless times already.

Oh, I’m pretty sure you do.”

No, I don’t. That’s just a made-up thing anyway. You’re really worrying too much.”

For a moment, the other two were quiet before Heechul spoke up again, “Seriously, Wookie, I love you, but don’t be like that. Anxieties are not made up. Minds are just another organ of the body, and every organ can get sick. Anxieties are one of the sicknesses a mind can get.”

Ryeowook gulped at his best friend’s serious voice. To him on the few occasions he had heard about anxieties, nothing had ever seemed real and the people around him had also always said the sick person was just faking it, but hearing Heechul—out of all people Heechul!—speak in that way about anxieties suddenly made the young cat hybrid question everything he had heard about them.

Wookie, I advise you do some research about that. You actually might find a few points that will match your behavior when you’re in crowds. We’re not saying you do have that anxiety, but look it up on the internet,” Hangeng interrupted the silence after a couple of seconds.

How do I do that?”

You can just do it on your phone,” Hangeng answered and then talked him through the steps he’d have to take, also warning him to be careful with the information he got, that not everything might be true.

They went back to lighter topics after that, but Ryeowook couldn’t stop thinking about Heechul’s and Hangeng’s words, so when they ended their call, he followed the steps he had been told and also found information—a lot of information! He clicked on the first link he found and started to read.

It was late that night and many websites later that he decided Heechul was overreacting even though there were people with conditions similar to his own where the situations had gotten out of hand. But he knew he himself was nowhere near that point.

Chapter 24: I enjoyed this a lot! 💙💙

Chapter 24: This whole story is one massive ear scratch, to go with the theme. ;) The emotions Ryeowook and all the characters feel come across as genuine and relatable and so beautiful in their simple, raw way. I loved it!
I also love how the plot is well thought out and builds from chapter to chapter to make us readers understand it in a natural way and on a personal level. At times I think changing up a sentence structure here or there would have provided for a better reading flow...but really, that's "complaining" on an exceptionally high level!
I'm happy you decided to share this with me. Even if it did cause one or another hour less sleep, as it usually is with things worth binge-reading. ;)

Chapter 10: It’s so cute seeing how excited Kyuhyun was when he received messages of the restaurants they applied for asking to interview Ryeowook! Kyuhyun was obviously anticipating for those replies and was very happy to know that they finally have time to give Ryeowook a chance. Not only that, but he was so excited for these interviews that he asked to follow Ryeowook to them! Daaaww! <3

Then there’s the part where Ryeowook had to do the cooking trial and Kyuhyun decided to just stay in bed and lie to his boss about being sick so he could follow him to the restaurant. It’s so sweet knowing that Kyuhyun was willing to lie to his boss just so that he could accompany Ryeowook. And also, him overhearing Ryeowook’s conversation with Heechul and knowing how nervous he was to go there alone, it’s nice to know how considerate Kyuhyun is! :’)

After all the cooking that Ryeowook did, the proud smile that Kyuhyun gave him was so adorable! Even though the boss hadn’t given his answers, Kyuhyun still felt proud for Ryeowook in delivering the dishes. Gosh, this Kyuhyun is just so adorable whenever he’s around Ryeowook!

I couldn’t help but to fangirl when Ryeowook decided to let Kyuhyun be the first one to know when he got the job. And also, when Kyuhyun hugged him and Ryeowook returned it, I thought I died. Just, yesss, this relationship is progressing slowly but surely and I love it!

Finally, the last part, when Ryeowook told Kyuhyun about his feelings and thoughts about the day. It’s so nice seeing Ryeowook finally opening up to Kyuhyun and actually telling him about his feelings without Kyuhyun initiating the questions. Also, Ryeowook willingly hugged Kyuhyun when Kyuhyun opened his arms to him, that’s so cute! (>w<) And, Ryeowook falling asleep on Kyuhyun’s shoulder. [squeals] Don’t worry, Kyuhyun, you’re not the only one who’s disappointed when he pulled away. X’D

Chapter 9: Yo, dude, the conversation between Heechul and Kyuhyun though, that’s very deep. (O_O) Then again, Heechul just wants to be sure that the person who’s taking care of Ryeowook is someone who stands up for what’s right, and not just sit back and watch what the old ones have to say. I think I can understand Heechul’s argument, but it was so nerve-wrecking watching these two comversing! It’s almost like Heechul is trying to anger Kyuhyun or something, with the way he was speaking. (>.<) Ooorz, luckily Kyuhyun is a patient and understanding person and not hot tempered, or else Heechul would be so screwed!

Chapter 8: Aha, I knew one of Ryeowook’s best memory would’ve something to do with Heechul. Heechul was the first ever person to keep his promise and contact Ryeowook even after he left the shelter, and even took Ryeowook away from their previous helper so they could live together. It’s so sweet of Heechul and it clearly showed how much he treasured the friendship between him and Ryeowook.

And one of Kyuhyun’s two best memory has to include waiting for the release of a video game. X’D LOL, of course, as expected of Game!Kyu. ;) But Ryeowook being the one other good memory, that’s very cute. <3 He truly likes Ryeowook and treasures him very much, it’s so adorable. (;u;) Ahhh, Kyuhyun, stop being so good! (TAT)
