Sweet Nothingsthe music was loud, and she could see her drink dancing to the rhythm. she didn’t know why she agreed to being there in the first place, but something told her that there was nothing to lose. she’d been single for too long, and a blind date at midnight, on halloween night, sounded like the right thing to kick her luck into track again, a chance to move on from her hopeless crush on her best friend. she didn’t put too much thought into her costume, mina helping way more than she thought she could when she started singing un poco loco while making dinner.
when mina told her about it, she refused right away, and even got defensive, but then she looked up at her with her puppy eyes and her lip curled out in a pout and she knew she couldn't really say no. mina said it’ll be someone nice, and jihyo trusted her, because she’s an angel and she would never hurt her. if only she knew jeongyeon was behind it.
her friends were at the same party, in the same club, but that didn’t make her less anxious. the clock was ticking down to midnight and she downed the last of her drink, before standing up to head where she was supposed to meet her blind date. jeongyeon winked at her from across the table, and mina said something to cheer her but she couldn’t hear it over the music. momo and sana were somewhere on the dance floor, and the rest of her friends were probably somewhere making out with pretty girls they’d be forgetting about in the morning.
it was hard crossing the dance floor to get to her table, and the heat made her start regretting her costume choice, but at least the white paint would hide how pink were her cheeks.
there was someone at the table already, and before she could turn around on her heels and run, the girl looked up, catching her staring, and they made eye contact for a second. the dim lights didn’t make it easier, but she felt familiar, and jihy
