you are the pain and the medicine
some days, some nightsthis was inspired from jojo's save my soul as a prompt from a ficathon in an lj community - this is a really old drabble, almost 2 years back, and this was my first attempt at btsrv as a whole too, just thought i'd put it up here;; warning:angsty seulmin, sorry not sorry, and lots of metaphors
In his lonely apartment, he tries to drink the night away.
She comes in time just before he is fully immersed in alcohol.
Jimin grits his teeth at Seulgi's timeliness and hurls his beer mug down the floor.
She picks up the broken glass of his beer mug and the pieces of his heart that go with it.
Her fingers bleed, she winces and he laughs. A sound she used to love hearing--therapeutic even.
Now, it's merely a haunting voice.
He bends down from his seat, taking her hand to help her up.
She stares at him with uncertainty as he smiles at her. It's a drunken and mischievous one but it still pulls her heart in.
Epiphany condemns her and Seulgi abruptly pulls out of Jimin's hold. She saunters to the kitchen sink, refusing to show him any sign of weakness.
She presses her fingers over the running water when Jimin presses himself behind her.
Then, a rush of heat and a torrent of cold causes her walls of glass to crumble down and she gasps, spinning herself around to face him.
The instant their eyes met, they drown each other in anxious gazes. Jimin gulps and composes himself for but a second.
And in a moment, they hold onto each other for dear life, both their heads buried on the other's neck, before lips meet lips in aimless meshing.
With hairs ruffled and hoarse breathing, they pull apart. Seulgi realizes and detaches, yet Jimin feels the need for more.
"Jimin, I'm tired," She sighs and feels foolish.
And he doesn't feel drunk as much when she falls on his tattered couch.
He lays beside her compressing their bodies together.
"I'm sorry. I-I'll stop this." Jimin murmurs against her hair, arms over her waist, and heart on his tongue.
Seulgi nods tiredly and tries to sleep at the sound of his breathing.
And they dream the same dream: being each other's savior. They know, though. They know that in the morning as they wake, no matter how much they hold onto each other, one of them will always fall.
As the dawn breaks, Seulgi peels herself off the couch. Jimin knows this will be the last time--the last time she pierces herself on his side like a shard of glass to skin. And like a shard of glass forcedly picked out from the flesh, he doesn't protest when the rush of pain comes along when she kisses him for the last time and exit out of his apartment; leaving him alone to save himself.
