Leandra’s first day at work was busy from the moment she stepped foot onto the floor.   Her shift began with a general tour of the resort that lasted two hours alone, followed by a more in-depth tour of the kitchens and other private employee areas, the areas that she would be spending most of her time in; she was given a radio and a small tablet to process tabs and orders on, and was set out into the field. Leandra had heard that casinos in Las Vegas were open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and it seemed that the Empyrean had followed that model to a T; when she had come in with Ehrielle at four that afternoon, slot machines were already in heavy use, and by the time she had been briefed enough to work the floor, the casino was in full swing, swarming with people on slot machines, at card and craps tables, or sitting and walking around in general, with drinks already in their hands as they laughed, explored and mingled. Leandra’s knowledge of the house menu and the casino floor began almost immediately as she was flagged down left and right by patrons looking for drinks and appetizers to fuel them as they spent the night in luxurious settings. The only things that could make the job better were the tips, which there were plenty of; the Empyrean hosted all sorts of A-list celebrities and wealthy patrons from both inside and outside of the country, and most of them were far from stingy.   Leandra was thinking about all the money she had already made in tips alone when she learned from Tanya, the senior server she had been shadowing, that they had been called on to cover the break of a server working in the Opal Lounge. It wasn’t a place or name that she was familiar with, as it hadn’t been a part of her tour; she was sure that nobody expected her to come anywhere near the place.
