Before - Rain

Dominion

The sound of rain intruded his mind. Such a soft sound becoming so prevalent. Too bad he decided to stay late at school today. He was worried about his project with Rosé after all. He didn't want to be caught slacking. Not that he was when it came to music.

His fingers lightly caressed the keys. He couldn't help but find a melody that would fit it. It was a depressing and overall dreary melody. He didn't think such a thing would suit someone like Rosé who was so bright. Perhaps he'd keep it in mind for later?

He quickly checked the time and realised he should probably get going. He didn't want to get yelled at by the Janitor after all. However, after his fingers left the piano he could still hear notes lingering in the air.

These were not from his melody. It was striking to his ears. After all, despite the beauty of it. He could hear the frustration hidden in the depths. It sounded like someone who wished to create as they wished but were stuck in rigidity. To held back by their lack of skill.

Or maybe he was just projecting what he was like when he was younger.

He carefully stalked the sound until he was behind a door.

Was he intruding on someone's sacred practice? Hesitation confronted him, however, his curiosity was too much for him. After all, he couldn't help but want to see who it was. After all from the sounds of their piano, they learnt from teaching themselves.

He opened the door slowly doing his best to not make a sound. He peered through the tiniest gap he could afford. He noticed a girl with brown hair or maybe it was black? There were no lights on in the room for him to make sure. It would she was doing her best to keep her piano playing to herself. Which he considered fair if a little dumb. After all, while teachers would assume no one was in the room with no lights on in the room. The sound would prove otherwise.

The only lighting was that of the cool light peeking through the thick dark curtains. Despite the fact, he couldn't help but notice how pretty she was. Albeit she looked frustrated from the way her eyebrows scrunched.

"Her name is Jennie," someone said from beside him causing him to have a heart attack. Which nearly subsequently caused him to swear, which would've given his position away. Thankfully the person quickly covered his mouth with their hand.

Which was actually quite soft.

"Ultra smooth Suga," she said with a laugh. He couldn't help but want to kick himself in response. Way to go man.

He sighed. "Was there a reason to sneak up on me Rosé?"

"I thought it'd be amusing and it was," she said turning to him with a smile. "Would you like me to introduce you to her?"

He couldn't help but falter at such an idea. Perhaps if Rosé wasn't the deciding factor in them meeting he would've hopped at the chance. But someone being around put him on edge. Especially if it was Rosé.

"Uhhh." He paused to think until he heard the clatter of Jennie packing up. He quickly grabbed Rosé by the wrist and lead her outside only for him to realise it was raining.

He frowned. Ultra smooth Yoongi.

"You know I was kind of waiting up till the rain stopped so I could walk home," she pointed out as rain pattered her skin. "After all my family is busy with their own stuff."

His driver's license test couldn't have been last week, could it? Otherwise, he'd have just dropped her off home. He quickly took off his coat and chucked it over her head. It wouldn't completely stop the rain but it'd do something.

"Come with me," he said softly as he grabbed her wrist again. He hated taking people to his place, but it was closer than Rosé's house. After all, she lived in a different district.

"Where are we going?" She asked following behind him. She quickly removed his grip on her wrist to better hold his jacket over her head. She seemed to mumble something.

"What was that?" He asked quickly turning towards her. His hair becoming drenched in the rain's slow onslaught.

"Oh, it was nothing my bad."

"Anyway, I'm taking you to my place. Mainly because the rain isn't supposed to let up until later tonight," He pointed out. He honestly didn't sound too enthused. Most guys his age would be bustling with excitement at having a girl over. Especially one as pretty as Rosé

"You don't sound that excited," She quickly pointed out. She looked slightly offended.

"Don't take it personally. I just hate having people over," He said with a lazy smile. Well aside from maybe Bobby but even then he didn't like having him over too often.

"Oh," she said her face softening into a smile. "Does that mean we're best buds now?"

He sighed in response. But he couldn't help but laugh a tiny bit. "Just get inside," he said gesturing to the tall building in front of him as he swiped his card.

"I didn't realise you lived so close to school. Let alone in an apartment complex. I always pictured you living in a nice homely house with a mother that likes to bake or cook," She said removing Yoongi's jacket from the top of her head.

"I didn't realise you thought of me so often," He taunted with a smile.

She froze and he smiled. "Oh, it's so good to actually watch someone else freeze up like that." He laughed. "I'm guessing you have no comeback?"

She quickly regained her composure. "Well here's the thing. I didn't want to roast you. Mainly because you'd have kicked me outside." She smiled.

He decided to let her have that. "I mean fair. You are known for being smart after all," he said. She did get put up a year to make up for her intelligence after all.

"I'm not gonna lie. I didn't imagine you being so taunting. But I suppose that's because when I met you-you were so quiet," she said recounting the time they met.

"Well sorry to break the illusion princess," He said as he followed her in. "I suppose that's why I don't have many 'actual' friends."

"I mean the basketball team seems to like you," she quickly pointed out as he gestured to the elevator.

"Doesn't mean I like managing them," he stated offhandedly. He didn't hate the guys. He just preferred actually playing with them. Instead of being an over-glorified boy.

He pressed the third-floor button. She raised an eyebrow in response to his statement. "..Then why do you manage them?"

Honestly, he didn't know why he managed them either. Perhaps it was because he was riding on the hope that next year the coach would see his dedication and let him play.

"Honestly, I don't know," he said as he guided her to his apartment. He quickly pulled out his swipe card and swiped it against the scanner. The machine created a satisfactory tone as it unlocked his apartment.

"What time do your parents get home?" She asked as she took off her shoes. He couldn't help but notice that despite the use of his jacket she was still wet.

"Why are you so worried about my parents? You scared to run into them or something?" He said with a laugh. His parents probably wouldn't care that he brought someone over that was a girl. If anything he'd get personally hassled and teased by his dad. Which almost caused him to groan at the thought. They'd be glad to see he was making more friends though.

"I just don't wanna be overstepping my boundaries as your friend," she said as she turned to him with a frown.

He sighed.

"I wouldn't worry about it. Anyway, you look like you still got wet. I'll let you wear some of my old clothes while yours dry," He said as he left what she assumed was the lounge. She wanted to sit down however she hesitated at the thought due to her skirt being wet.

She really hoped his parents didn't come home while she was standing awkwardly in the lounge like an idiot.

"Anyone would think you're trapped here," he whispered in her ear giving her a fright. Unlike him earlier that evening she didn't make a noise. Instead, her body just jolted upwards suddenly.

"Jesus Christ man," she said the shock fading from her veins.

"Sorry, just thought I'd get a little revenge for earlier." He smiled as he tossed her some clothes. "I'm gonna have a shower. Get changed wherever," He said before promptly leaving.

He took his phone and started playing music. It was an odd habit for sure. But he just liked to listen to music while he showered. Honestly, he didn't expect to bring Chaeyoung to his house. At least not so soon anyway. But granted he wasn't exactly the picture of grace under fire. He decided to let it go. Even if some would see his recent acts as more than just faux pas.

His muscles relaxed underneath the soothing heat. He could probably live the rest of his life just like this. Except you know the water bill would be expensive. So he quickly washed and turned off the shower.

He nearly left the bathroom after only putting his boxers on. How embarrassing that would've been. Thankfully he remembered he had a guest.

Yoongi opened the door after getting dressed and sought out where Rosé was. He ended up finding her on his bed inspecting one of the photos on his dresser. He was just glad he had already hidden his rap notepad. Which was under the fridge. Where else would you put hot fire?

"I didn't realise you knew Bobby so well," she stated glancing over the picture as she put it back.

"I've known him since middle school. Some people used to say we were inseparable. But you sound surprised," He quickly pointed out.

"I mean you guys don't exactly hang out at school," She said turning towards him.

"We grew older and well... sometimes, as a result, you grow apart," he said softly. "He thinks we aren't but that's probably because he's so caught up in everything he doesn't notice."

"....I also know why you said not to worry about your parents coming home. You live by yourself, after all, there is only one bedroom in this complex. Why are you so lonely Yoongi?" She said stepping towards him. Only is it then can he see the worry in her eyes. Only upon noticing the detail can he hear it in her voice reverberating in his brain.

He sighed. "I'm just not good at dealing with people really," he said turning his head to avoid her gaze. Yet he can still feel it burrowing into his skin.

"I can see why you manage the basketball team. Whether you know it or not. You like to have people around you." Her hand lightly grasping his chin as she turned his head back towards her. "You leave a wall up to hide from your loneliness."

The sight of her eyes watering could only make Yoongi frown as a result. He did not wish to see her cry. Pretty faces didn't deserve to cry.

"You're so pure." His eyes locking with hers.

"But you're also a dork," he said with a smile as he flicked her on the forehead. "I don't know you're so worried. I have you around now don't I? Or am I gonna have to grab another random person out in the rain and invite them to my house."

She laughed in response. All signs of wear and tear to the dam that was holding back her emotions quickly faded. "Hey! Don't flick me on the forehead you ! That hurt," She replied jovially as she rubbed her forehead.

"Come on you dork." He gestured for her to follow him into the lounge to watch some movies. Mainly because he had the odd suspicion that he'd get his beat if he played video games with her.

"What the ,"  She screeched in response to the scene in front of her. It would seem she didn't deal well with horror movies judging by her tone.

"What the ?" He asked curiously. He understood what she said was in reaction to the jumpscare. But he was curious to find out what it meant.

She raised an eyebrow in response. Then her face shifted into a sign of realization dotted with a laugh at the end.

"Right you don't know English," she stated. "I guess I'm so used to talking to people that know English and Korean, like Bobby and Jennie."

"Ah, that's the language. I'm just guessing by the way you said that last phrase in English that I probably shouldn't say that to a teacher if I ever took an English class," he said with a laugh. "On a more serious note, I can stop the movie if you want. I'm not gonna judge considering I'm not paying too much attention to it."

"...But then I'll have to leave," she said quietly to herself, her gaze shifting to the hardwood floors below her. However, Yoongi actually picked up on it.

She turned her head to Yoongi to say something only to notice a distinct lack of him. She wondered where he went but she rationalized that maybe he needed to use the bathroom.

"Oh no," he said with minimal effort. Which only made her curious. So she quickly rushed to where he was only to find that he had dried clothes.

Or at least what would have been her dry clothes if he hadn't just dropped them into a bucket of water.

"I'm so clumsy," he said really sarcastically. "It would seem the fates are telling you to stay the night."

She couldn't help but smile in response to his antics.

The story's so good!! Relationship dynamics between YG and Rosé are so well-explored. Is there going to be a next chapter soon? :)
