When Kris walks into his bedroom, he finds Tao already sitting at his desk, head down and laptop open in front of him. He has a presentation due in two days that he still haven't started on (partly because he’s lazy but mostly because he and Kris are perpetually ) and is determined to get a decent chunk of it done tonight. Kris sets his backpack down beside his bed and moves over to lean in and kiss Tao on the cheek, making the younger hum contentedly.

"Hey baby," Kris murmurs, "Ready for dinner?"

“Is it the same restaurant as last week?” Tao asks, before looking up at Kris.

The older blinks slowly, stupidly, not saying anything in response to Tao's question. He can't stop staring at the raven-haired boy; he looks like a y librarian, the kind where you'll check out the most random books just to get a chance to see them, or make constant noise just so they'll come and tell you to be quiet.
