Struggles and Revelations
Boys Over Flower 2“Sae Ron, dear?” Sae Ron’s mother called. “Your friends are here to visit you.” She continued.
After hearing that her friends were there, Sae Ron immediately ran for the door and went down to meet them. She was especially excited to see a certain person but when she finally saw her visitors, her smile automatically disappeared. The person she really wanted to see was not there.
“Yah! What’s with the frowning?” Jin Hwan exclaimed.
“Is Joo Hyuk with you?” Sae Ron asked right away and all her friends started to look away.
The living room was starting to get awkward because of the silence. Sae Ron’s mother might have noticed it too and started to eye everyone in the room. She thought that something was off and she couldn’t shake the feeling that it concerned about her daughter’s strange behaviours lately. She needed to know.
“So!” Sae Ron’s mother broke the silence and everyone jumped in surprise. “Why don’t you guys go sit and I’ll make something for you to eat and drink.” She added. “Yoo Jung, dear? Why don’t you come and help me?” She asked and Yoo Jung nodded and the both of them went into the kitchen.
Jin Hwan was worried for his childhood friend. He knew that Sae Ron has some mental illness when they were young and he couldn’t stop thinking that her illness might have come back. He needed to look out for her more and make sure that she wouldn’t do something stupid.
“Yah! If you’re sick, you should have told me! I could have brought you home myself.” Jin Hwan accused.
“I’m fine. Really.” Sae Ron assured. “So stop nagging already.” She added, smirking at him.
“When it comes to Sae Ron, Jin Hwan sure is protective.” Chan Woo commented and Jin Hwan flinched.
“Of course! She’s my childhood friend.” Jin Hwan stated proudly.
Everyone was chatting and laughing happily but Sae Ron couldn’t help herself feeling sad because Joo Hyuk wasn’t there. Her friends noticed her saddened expression and they was silence once more.
“Stop that.” Hyun Hyeong exclaimed. “Stop thinking things that would only upset you.” He added.
“Hyeongie’s right.” Chan Woo agreed. “It would only worsen your sickness.” He continued.
“I couldn’t help it. I.. I wanted to see him. But..” Sae Ron was in the verge of tears.
“Sae Ron-ah..” Jin Hwan was feeling sorry.
Jin Hwan was upset. He couldn’t do anything for her. He knew that Sae Ron liked Joo Hyuk but Joo Hyuk liked someone else. It was not like he could make Joo Hyuk change his feelings for Sae Ron. It would only ruin his friendship with him but he needed to do something, even a small thing that would cheer her up.
Meanwhile, in the kitchen:
“Thanks for helping, Yoo Jung-ah.” Sae Ron’s mother exclaimed.
“This is nothing, auntie.” Yoo Jung smiled sweetly. “I’m happy to help especially for my friend.” She added.
“How nice of you.” Sae Ron’s mother praised and paused. “Yoo Jung-ah..” Sae Ron’s mother hesitated.
“Auntie? What is it?” Yoo Jung noticed that Sae Ron’s mother was trying to ask something.
“It’s Sae Ron.” Sae Ron’s mother started. “Lately, I noticed that she was acting very strange. When she went home last day, she looked terrified and she locked herself in her room. I couldn’t shake the feeling that her illness is coming back.” Sae Ron’s mother continued and Yoo Jung was confused hearing the last statement. “Last night, she was having a nightmare. She was shouting in her sleep and it took me a long time to wake her up.” Sae Ron’s mother continued and Yoo Jung was horrified hearing the story.
“But she seems fine now.” Yoo Jung stated. “I’m sure it was just the fever, auntie.” She consoled.
“Right. But I couldn’t help thinking that she might be getting bullied by someone?” Sae Ron’s mother replied and Yoo Jung knitted her eyebrows in confusion. “By any chance, do you happen to know someone named Gu So Hyun?” She asked and Yoo Jung’s eyes widened. “You know her?” She asked again.
“She’s our schoolmate but..” Yoo Jung was still confused.
“Really? Sae Ron was shouting that name in her nightmare.” Sae Ron’s mother exclaimed. “And there were some other things she was shouting too with the name GU SO HYUN. MAN IN BLACK. BUMBLE BEE CAR. I don’t remember the others.” Sae Ron’s mother finished. “Do you know the meaning behind my daughter’s words?” She asked.
“Wait. What did she say? BUMBLE BEE CAR?” Yoo Jung was frozen. “No way. It can’t be.” She kept on thinking.
“Yoo Jung, dear? What’s the matter?” Sae Ron’s mother noticed her troubled expression.
Yoo Jung couldn’t hear anything. Her world have been frozen ice solid. Her head started to process a lot of things at the same time but she decided to check and confirm one thing first.
“I’m so sorry, auntie.” Yoo Jung started. “I have to go home. There’s something urgent that I have to do.” She continued. “Is it okay if I leave first?” Yoo Jung asked.
“Yes. Yes, of course.” Sae Ron’s mother replied.
Yoo Jung immediately went out from the kitchen and headed to her friends in the living room. When she got to her friends, she noticed that the atmosphere was gloomy but it quickly went away when they saw her.
“I’m sorry. I have to go first.” Yoo Jung explained.
“Why? What’s wrong? Is everything okay?” Chan Woo asked, standing up.
“It’s nothing. I forgot something back home so I’ll just drop by there to get it.” Yoo Jung answered.
“Oh. Okay then. Be safe!” Sae Ron hugged her friend good bye.
Yoo Jung quickly went home. As soon as she arrived at the gate, she couldn’t see the car that usually parks at the old garage and she felt more worried. It was her favourite car since she was little, a BUMBLE BEE design car.
“Welcome home, young miss.” The maid greeted.
“Where’s mom?” Yoo Jung asked her.
“She’s not here at the moment, miss.” The maid answered.
“Okay. You can leave.” Yoo Jung dismissed the servant. “I’ll use this time to look around. It’s a good thing that mom’s not here.” Yoo Jung thought and went out from the house.
Yoo Jung went to roam around. Her family was quite wealthy too so their house was quite big and the grounds were also wide which Yoo Jung found to be irritating since she was supposed to look around the vast area. She was nearing the very far end of the grounds when she spotted her favourite car, the bumble bee design car. She ran towards it and found herself in front of an old ware house. She started to walk towards the building when she heard her mother’s voice.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Yoo Jung suddenly froze after hearing the cold voice of her mother.
“I.. I was just..” Yoo Jung stammered. “I was just wondering where my favourite car had went and I found it here. “ Yoo Jung answered and her mother eyed her suspiciously.
“Oh, is that so?” Her mother smiled and it brought shiver in Yoo Jung’s body. “I ordered somebody to park it here since it was old and rusty. We may not be able to use it anymore.” She explained. “And you shouldn’t roam around like this? Who knows that someone might try and kidnap you?” Yoo Jung’s mother stated and Yoo Jung flinched.
“And why would anyone kidnap me in my own house?” Yoo Jung asked and her mother threw her a glare.
“Who knows? Someone might break in so we should be careful.” Her mother answered coolly. “Now, why don’t we go back and have some delicious dinner?” She urged and Yoo Jung didn’t have a choice but to follow.
Back at the boys’ dormitories, Joo Hyuk just came inside their room. He went to look for So Hyun the whole day and never attended a single class. He was worried sick about So Hyun that he wasn’t able to rest from the day of So Hyun’s disappearance. And now that he was back in their room, he suddenly felt tired and sleepy.
“Hey.” Joo Hyuk flinched by the voice from the dark. “It’s me, Jin Hwan.” And Jin Hwan went into the light.
“Hey. What are you doing here? And where’s Hyun Hyeong?” Joo Hyuk asked.
“He left a little while ago for us to talk.” Jin Hwan answered and Joo Hyuk raised his eyebrows in question.
“Talk? Us? About what?” Joo Hyuk asked again, confused.
