"You know, smoking can kill you", a voice spoke out. She spun to its direction by instinct, dropping the cigarette tucked between her pale chapped lips after letting out a quick gasp; the same went for her lighter, emitting a distinct clank of metal against the hard cement.

Her brows knitted together as she gained recognition of the man who would rather be the cause of her death than her cigarettes.

"Yeah, thanks for the tip. Appreciate it", she spat, clearly annoyed as she bent down to retrieve the cigarette and lighter.

Just as she inserted another stick between her lips and started to light it, he spoke.

"My brother got lung cancer. Really ", he scoffed at the last part, totally unaffected by it, but his eyes told otherwise. A pang of guilt striked her ego, which awkwardly led her to slide them back inside her jacket pocket.

"I didn't know..." She trailed off, now eating the inside of her cheeks, thinking as to how she'd escape this situation. She was never good at deep and emotional talks, all she'd ever do is stay silent and avoid eye contact
