Taehyung stood there in the pouring rain. Such a typical, dramatic scene. He couldn’t help but force out a dry chuckle at the irony.

He watched the couple in front of him with bitterness in his eyes. Stupid. He was so, so stupid. I’m the world’s biggest fool.

He stood in place for a long time, watching the pair go farther and farther away from him. He didn’t register the fact that the rain was no longer beating against him until he heard a voice.

“How long are you planning to be here for?” 

Taehyung snapped his head in the direction of the voice. A man with sharp yet dulcet features was looking at him, holding an umbrella over his head. 

Taehyung laughed. “This is so cliche. A heartbroken uni student watching a couple from afar in the rain and then a stranger appears with an umbrella.” He took a step back. “I was just leaving, thank you.”

The stranger didn’t let up, matching Taehyung’s pace. “Heartbroken?” he repeated.

Taehyung gestured to the couple that was no longer there, having been long gone. “I liked somebody but they didn’t like me back. End of story.” He sped up, not wanting to talk any longer.

He reached his home and crashed onto his bed, the first tears finally escaping. 

He had loved Hoseok for as long as he could remember. The man had charisma, was talented, and his personality made him very likeable. Taehyung gained an optimistic outlook on life because of him. Always smiling, playful, loud. Taehyung unknowingly began to learn from him and soon enough, people all around him referred to Taehyung as a sunny boy with a grin on his face all the time.

But things weren’t perfect. They never could be, not when this was Taehyung’s life.

He confessed to Hoseok his first year at university, but the man turned him down saying there was someone else. His first rejection. 

Now, Hoseok and Park Jimin were together.

Hoseok delivered the last blow before he and Jimin got together. Taehyung remembered the last thing he told him.
