chapter one.
Hopeless LoveEveryone feels nervous on their first day of high school right?
New classmates. New teachers. New environment.
You're lucky if you end up in the same school with your middle school friends, but I'm never that lucky. Standing outside the school gates alone, I stared up at the statue positioned at the main gate.
"You can do this, Lee Mina," I told myself. "It's just a new school. You can make friends well. You are outgoing. People like you."
I closed my eyes for a second and took a deep breath. Opening them and after convincing myself that I can get through the first day, I took a step forward.
But the Heavens just won't let me live.
I stepped into the gates and was immediately knocked into by a really tall male. I stumbled and almost kissed the floor hello when a pair of arms grabbed onto mine, stopping my fall. My eyes were squeezed shut in fear.
Until I realised that I was in someone's arms.
Oh boy, this is going to haunt me for the rest of my life.
"You alright?" A deep voice called out to me.
I let out a breath, only then I noticed that I had held my breath. Slowly opening my eyes, I found myself staring into a pair of chocolate brown eyes. My eyes widened as they roamed around his visuals.
Boy, he could kill with those looks.
His hair was beautifully tousled, his locks were wavy brown. His eyebrows were on fleek - bro - and his eyes were looking at me. I glanced down and his high nose bridge came into view.
I had to suppress the urge to touch his nose when I noticed that his lips were moving.
I blinked.
"Are you okay?" I read his lips.
I quickly straightened myself, letting out a sound that mimicked a dying whale - my laugh - nervously and in embarrassment. I curled my hair behind my ear, avoiding his gaze.
His friends were chuckling beside him.
Lucky guy. He has friends.
"Sorry, didn't see you there." He smiled and held his hand out. "Joohyuk."
I snap my head up.
"Huh?"
"Joohyuk," he repeated. "What's your name?"
I blinked for a second before shakily grabbing his hand.
"Mina."
"It's nice to meet you." He shook our hands. "I'm really sorry for bumping into you earlier. Too excited for my first day of school."
Oh? He's a freshman too.
The bell rang and students started filing into the school, finding their classes. He bowed - more like giving a suave nod - and smacked the back of his friends' heads before running into the building.
