It was very effective, if you'd ask Sana. The day ended with Nayeon almost losing her voice (and her sanity.)

 

Sure, teaching with kids was fun and all but sometimes, it has a downside too. Not that Nayeon hates it; she just wants them to calm down. But who can blame them, they're too excited, too excited to watch their teacher suffer.

 

She couldn't even wait with Sana, as Nayeon just told the guard with a hoarse voice to keep his eye on the kid, and the guard, unsure, nodding as to what Nayeon is saying.

 

She returns to the faculty. Immediately resting her head on her table. Jihyo immediately grins, this sight is nothing new but when she sees it, she gets overjoyed. She really likes to see her friends suffer, doesn't she?

 

"Rough day?" Jihyo asks.

 

Nayeon could only nod her head. Fortunately, not a lot of teachers are in the room. And both Jihyo and Nayeon could have their peaceful time. Except, Minhyuk just had to be there.

 

"Hello, Nayeon. I had a good time yesterday. Hope you had too."

 

Well, I did not. She thinks but chooses not to speak any other word.

 

Jihyo clears , glaring at the man for not noticing how bad Nayeon is feeling today. "Nayeon, why don't you go to the clinic first? You're looking very sick right now. You can't work like that."

 

"I'm used to this, Jihyo. No worries." Nayeon shoos her away with her hand, and raises her brow seeing Minhyuk still standing there. She shrugs it off though.

 

"What? You're burning, Nayeon. I can't let you work like this. Forget the clinic, get back home and rest. I mean it." Jihyo says.

 

"I can accompany her to the—"

 

"No need!" Nayeon rises up, staring weirdly towards Jihyo and Minhyuk, which she immediately regretted as she felt her whole world turning around.

 

"Nayeon, I'm going to call Doctor Myoui."

 

"What? No!" Nayeon tried to snatch the phone but ends up falling in Jihyo's arms.

 

"Nope."

 

"No!"

 

And that's all Nayeon could remember as she was dragged by Jihyo outside, almost laughing at the confused state of Minhyuk before stopping herself thinking it might be rude.

Jihyo is a good friend. Accompanying Nayeon to the clinic where Mina is working and Mina who Nayeon is trying to avoid right now. A very good friend.

 

"Why are you so scared to enter? It's not like you're going to do anything. Please, you're burning. I don't want to see you red like this. You're starting to look like Elmo from that puppet show." She says to the older who is currently pouting and staring at the floor.

 

Jihyo dragged Nayeon inside, surprised that Doctor Myoui isn't there. A grumpy-looking man maybe in his fifties is in her desk. Not that Nayeon is disappointed, she's just REALLY sad that Mina isn't there.

 

"Oh, Im Nayeon? And you're?"

 

"Park Jihyo, her friend." She extends her arm towards the doctor and shakes it.

 

"I'm Doctor Hirai Momo. What can we do for you?"

 

"It's just that my friend here is burning with fever, and it's been taking a toll on her." Jihyo worriedly says, looking at Nayeon who is smiling lazily at the ceiling.

 

"She really lost her mind..." Jihyo mentally face palm looking at the state her friend is currently in.

 

"Oh, this is not normal. Please, get in." Momo says as she opens the door of one of the rooms and helps Nayeon get in the bed, Jihyo scrunches her face at her friend's state, before murmuring that she'll come later to pick her up.

 

Momo dejectedly looks at Nayeon before making her rest at the bed and preparing tools to cure the teacher.

Mina sighs as Jisoo texts her again, saying Sana will be with her till tomorrow since it is Saturday. No classes for her, and she could enjoy a bit of break. Mina agreed since Sana wanted to spend much time with Jisoo.

 

"Could you please inform me beforehand so that I do not have to waste my time walking from the clinic to her school like?" Mina says over the phone.

 

"Yeah, yeah, get some exercise. You're a doctor yet you look so thin." Jisoo teases.

 

"Excuse me, I'm not thin. I'm not just really into that area."

 

"Okay, okay. I need to go back to the hospital. The director waits for me. Take care of Sana, okay? Don't spoil her too much."

 

"Yeah, yeah. Say bye Sana."

 

"Bye~"

 

"Hmm, don't be naughty okay?"

 

The line ends with Mina returning to the hospital for a meeting, Doctor Park replacing her for the moment she’s away.

It took hours but now she's finished finally. Returning to the clinic, it was evening already and as she tried to greet Doctor Park on her way, all she received was a glare and his usual stoic face. He has a reputation for not liking the younger doctors feeling they aren't experienced enough, but Mina could only bow. She’s not a match for her superior anyway.

 

Respect the elderly. Mina thinks.

 

"You're back, finally. I couldn't handle that old man's gaze and sneer, he's judging me! Do you know how hard it feels?" Momo whines as Mina returns to what happened earlier and nods.

 

"Was it hard? Pfft, I know you can handle him. You're Hirai Momo." Mina says as she fixes her desk, clearing out any unnecessary things in it.

 

Momo just shakes her head and smiles, glancing at the door. "Looks like we're pulling an overnighter again." Mina adds.

 

"Yeah, this . It feels more like we're in an office than we are doctors."

 

"Yep but at least we can work here peacefully."

 

"But I want to do the real job, Mina."

 

Momo looks at Mina, "I know I know. We'll get there."

 

Mina then started to check if the room are neat and clean, occupied or not. Most of them were none. Not until she checks the last.

 

Momo bites her lip, preparing for whatever her friend's reaction will be. She heard the door close, and open, and close. Then a wide-eyed Mina emerges and quietly shuts the door, mouth ajar.

 

"What is she doing here?"

 

Momo tried so hard to keep in her laugh, but seeing Mina’s reaction, she couldn’t help but chuckle as she holds her belly to avoid laughing too much. Meanwhile, Mina could only cross her arms and stare at Momo, standing motionless.

 

“She’s our patient.” Momo grins surprised that the wide-eyed Mina is gone and the professional Mina takes in. “You’re no fun.” Momo says.

 

“What is funny about that? What’s her symptoms?” Mina says as she leaves her clipboard at her table before going to Momo again. Momo takes out a folder in her drawer, reading it to Mina.

 

“She is burning with fever, also has fatigue, sore throat, and that I think.”

 

“What the— I just saw her yesterday and she’s all well and fine and now she…” Mina trails off, remembering that it rained yesterday just when she saw Nayeon and that guy go out. Mina rolls her eyes, it’s not like the weather really listened to her, right?

 

“I told you to hit the man, not her…” she whispers to herself and Momo looks up to stare weirdly at her, which she shrugs it off.

 

“Bring this in to her, and check her vitals. She’d been asleep since this afternoon.” Momo hands out a medicine, but Mina pushes her hand back to her.

 

“Why me? She’s your patient. Not mine.” Mina defensively asks, rushing to her desk to pretend she has something to do.

 

“Oh, come on Mina. Are you not a doctor? Are you not professional about your job? I still have things to do, just look at this stack of papers, I mean! And you’re doing it every day we have a patient so go.” Momo points out to the stacked papers just beside her table.

 

Mina swallows before agreeing, “I can just do that.”

 

“No.”

 

Mina sighed, she has no choice, and it’s not like this is just a stranger. This is Nayeon, after all. What could go wrong?

 

“Hey, is no one going to get her?” Mina says before entering, stopping in front of the door.

 

“Someone named Park Jihyo told me she’d be getting her soon but I don’t know when. Anyway, just go! The medicine she takes isn’t supposed to be missed on the clock. It should be taken right on time.”

 

“Okay, okay.” Mina prepares herself, not like she’s nervous or anything, or why is she even like this? Before letting her thoughts overcome her, Mina opens the door, and there she sees Nayeon sleeping peacefully.

 

Mina might just fall at how cute and peaceful she looks when asleep, and she doesn’t know she’s admiring the girl before coming back to her senses, she wakes Nayeon up for a bit, and Mina feels bad for having to do it. Nayeon doesn’t seem to recognize her though. And Mina would be shocked if not that she felt Nayeon’s forehead and realized how much it’s burning.

 

She helps Nayeon take the medicine and soon after Miss Im is asleep once again.

 

“What is the use of the umbrella that I let you borrow if you’re not going to use it…” Mina says as she fixes Nayeon’s bed and helps the teacher be comfortable. She tucks Nayeon with the blanket and a small smile is starting to form on Mina’s lips.

 

The silence occupied the both of them with just Mina staring at Nayeon. Not that she’s beautiful or anything. Mina noticed a few strands of Nayeon’s hair getting on her face and she removes it by brushing it away and tucks it behind her ear. The sudden realization of what she’s doing hit Mina hard and she pulled away immediately.

 

“What the heck am I doing?” she asks, holding her hand that brushed Nayeon’s hair just a while ago. Still in disbelief and couldn’t believe what she just did, Mina turned her head slowly at the door and finds Momo holding out her phone.

 

“Don’t mind me, it’s for research purposes.” Her friend grins and Mina could feel her face redden.

 

Mina walked away quickly, dragging Momo away before sitting down and fanning her face. “What the heck? Delete that. Whatever it is.”

 

“Oh?” Momo teases, her head slightly turning sideways. “Why Mina? What’s in here that—look at how red you are!”

 

“Stop it. It’s not funny.” Mina closes her eyes, and pinches the bridge of her nose. While Momo was busy laughing her heart out, trying hard to keep it silent. After a while, when everyone is calm. Mina tried to steal Momo’s phone away, but the latter only pulls her tongue out and Mina could only sigh in defeat.

 

“You’re such a kid,” Mina sneers. “Did you check her temperature?”

 

“I’m about to,” Momo smiles, intentionally showing Mina her phone and waving it in front of her, before dashing into the room where Nayeon is. Mina could only roll her eyes and exhale, she was definitely wasn’t expecting to be doing whatever she did with Nayeon.

 

She curses in her mind, asking why the nurses are already gone. She hears a giggle inside and Mina was sure she was about to lose her cool when the door of the entrance opens and she was greeted with a beautiful woman who has big eyes and equally as beautiful but chic woman in the clinic.

 

Mina goes out of her desk to welcome them, before they utter her name and she was utterly confused.

 

“How did you know my name?” Mina smiles uneasily, it could be that they’re one of Nayeon’s friends but how does Nayeon’s friends even know her?

 

“Oh, Nayeon was telling us all things about yo—ow.”

 

“Nayeon was telling us about you about Sana. Yeah, that’s it. I’m Park Jihyo, by the way and this is Yoo Jeongyeon. We’re Nayeon’s friends. How is she?”

 

“She’s in that room. Still drowsy, but fortunately she’s getting fine. All she needs is a rest, guessing she got wet with the rain yesterday and the cold weather also.” Mina explains, guiding them to the room before nodding to Momo to let her explain about it.

 

“That Minhyuk, I swear I’m gonna kick him in his—ow! Why do you guys keep on hitting me?” Jeongyeon complains as she helps Jihyo take Nayeon to the car. “Watch your language!”

 

Jengyeon scoffs, “As if you’re not speaking any profanity against some of our teachers.”

 

“Well, you’re right.”

 

“You’re so noisy, stop it.” Nayeon mumbles as she helps herself at the backseat of Jihyo’s car.

 

“Sorry ‘bout that. I am staying with you. You have no one to take care of you in your house anyway. Jeongyeon needs to go back but she’ll visit you… You know I am starting to think that we should just leave Nayeon in the clinic since they’re still open but she’ll probably get even redder when she’s near to Doctor Myoui. I must admit Nayeon though, you have a good taste.” Jihyo grins as she starts the car, earning a kick from the back of her chair.

 

“Even for someone that is sick you’re still dangerous. Anyway, doctor Hirai gave me some medications which I didn’t listen one bit so I’m handing them to Jihyo because she’s the responsible one in the three of us.” Jeongyeon grabs a small plastic and puts it in the headboard of the car. “She also said to come again tomorrow for a check-up.”

 

“Can’t believe Nayeon is finally going to the clinic for that she has an actual purpose! Not just using check-ups as an excuse to visit a very pretty doctor.” Jeongyeon adds, looking back at Nayeon who is trying to sleep uncomfortably with the narrow space of the car.

 

“She has a girlfriend so quit it I might actually think I have a chance if you keep on making me remember such things.” Nayeon lazily mumbles, her hand resting on top of her head as she gives a shot on trying to lessen the pain she feels in her head.

 

Jihyo and Jeongyeon could only look at each other, as a smile is forming in the lips of the two. They might give Nayeon something so she’ll recover quickly. All thanks to a certain Hirai Momo.

“Quit staring at me like that, it’s making me uncomfortable.” Mina says as she stands up to get a glass of water. Sure, this night is taking a toll on them and she’s thankful to have Momo as a companion but she really doesn’t have to stare like a creep.

 

But Momo doesn’t stop, occasionally eyeing Mina whenever she reads a new paper from the documents they need to review. Subtly lifting her phone, Mina gets the sign as she covers who just dropped ten feet towards the ground.

 

“You did not!”

 

“Oh I just did!”

 

“Hirai Momo I am going to kill you.”

 

“Nayeon’s going to love that picture, though.”

Morning came, and sure it was Saturday but that doesn’t mean it’s an off day for the two bestfriends. Saturday only means lesser people and quieter than weekdays.

 

Over the night, they managed to fix it, only delivering it to the hospital before the day ends and Mina could finally get Sana back from Jisoo’s grasp who is surely spoiling her sister right now.

 

Who is she kidding? It’s only 8 in the morning. Nobody would bother to get out from their bed at this hour on a Saturday. Except from them, though. A coffee will do at this morning anyway.

 

The entrance door opens and Mina looks up, finding someone she isn’t expecting to see this early in the morning. Momo appears at her side and taps Mina on the shoulder before moving forward and greeting Nayeon and Jihyo. Soon after they were inside Momo’s office and Mina couldn’t help but walk outside the door.

 

Momo did not tell her what kind of picture it was, and now Jisoo, Jeongyeon, Jihyo, and maybe Nayeon too knows it already. In short, everybody knows it except her.

 

It’s not like Mina to be not calm with this kind of moment, but if Nayeon’s in it then she would never be calm.

 

Mina hears a few ‘you’re definitely a lot better than yesterday’ and a ‘get well soon’ before the door creaks and she immediately goes over to an empty chair and sips on her coffee before pretending to be doing nothing as the door fully swings open.

 

She sees Jihyo walked quickly towards the door and smiled at Mina before exiting, then Nayeon and Momo came and Mina has never felt the need to avert her gaze so fast on the potted plant beside her. Seemingly more interesting than her fellow doctor and her definitely-I-don’t-like-her somewhat friend.

 

Mina is sure Momo glanced at her before increasing the volume of her voice for Mina to hear, “Yes, Nayeon sure keep that in mind. And don’t get sick again someone might be very worried about you. Just take the medicines and certainly, you’ll be fine. And what else, hmm? Just know that someone was really concerned about you last night, and I think she’s sitting over there and—“

 

Mina cleared , and then sips her coffee again, ignoring the looks of Nayeon and Momo. Momo’s laugh and Nayeon’s giggle echoes inside the clinic and Mina can’t help but feel something boiling inside her. She definitely isn’t concerned about that, not that she’s curious or anything or if anything she’s just a stranger here. Just no one, actually. She’s not working here, she’s nothing but the bench, she’s starting to appreciate Jihyo so much since the latter at least smiled at her.

 

But then someone stopped in front of her and Mina looks up, only to see Nayeon smiling at her, and not that Mina thinks she’s an angel with that smile of hers. It doesn’t help the way the sun’s rays hits behind her, forming a glow behind Nayeon and Mina thinks if this is what it feels when you’re meeting an angel and going to heaven feels like.

 

“Uhm...” Nayeon’s voice woke her up from her trance. “I want to thank you for taking care of me last night and to Doctor Hirai too, sorry for the trouble. But thanks to both of you I’m fine now.”

 

Mina sees that Nayeon keeps on looking down at her feet so Mina smiles and assures her that she’s not going to eat her. An awkward laugh came out of Nayeon because surely she took that in a different context.

 

“Besides it is our job, no need to thank us. You should probably rest now. It seems like Jihyo is getting impatient waiting for you.” Mina glances at Jihyo. Nayeon nods before rushing out of the clinic, a red hue forming on her cheeks.

 

Momo sits beside Mina and both watched as the two leave the premises.

 

“She still thinks you have a girlfriend, though.” Momo smiles and Mina raises a brow at her. “Just tell me what did you exactly talk about inside? I’m starting to doubt it’s about her health.”

 

“Nothing. Just a few check-ups here and there. I didn’t actually tell her something about you being single and you liking her but that is not my problem anyways.”

 

“It was weird, though.” Mina pauses, scratching her chin before looking at Momo. “She’s saying thank you to us, but before when she’s still doing check-ups everyday she wouldn’t do that. Just a bit odd.”

 

Then a chuckle was heard, and Mina looks at her side, confused at her friend’s reaction. “What’s so funny about that?”

 

“It’s just that…” Momo gets her phone, unlocking it and things before continuing. “I showed her that picture and I remembered I haven’t actually showed it to you.”

 

Mina wants to bury herself 100 feet off the ground. She shivers just by the thought of it, now she’s ashamed to face anyone in this lifetime who knows about it. She keeps in mind to take revenge on Momo if the girl ever gets a love life.

 

Momo noticed her friend’s reaction, “Don’t worry. It’s not something embarrassing. It’s just you looking lovingly at Nayeon and fixing her hair while she’s asleep, just that.”

 

Mina drooled on her coffee, she wasn’t expecting that. “W-what?” she stammers, face flushed with the revelation. So that is what they’re talking about?!

 

Momo didn’t answer anymore and only showed the picture on her phone. It sure was looking something out of a k-drama. With Mina gently fixing Nayeon’s hair while a small smile is formed on her lips.

 

“This… This is embarrassing. I can’t believe you did this to me. Did you just really show it to her?”

 

Momo nods. “I even sent it to her. Also, to her friends. You’d wish you saw Nayeon’s face at that moment. She was internally screaming from how I see it. And she’s a lot better after that.”

 

“You’re really on a first name basis now? And how dare you expose me like that? You little raccoon, I’m gonna kick your , I’d really do.”

 

“Why? Jealous?” Momo stands up, laughing, returning to her room before Mina calls her.

 

“Momo?”

 

“What is it?”

 

“Can you…”

 

“Can I what?”

 

Mina takes a deep breathe before saying it. Not like she has anything to lose, everybody seems to know already. “Can you send me that picture too?”
