One Chance

#NOWPLAYING (short story collection)

Taeyeon hardly believes it herself that she's here. The deafening beat of the music fills up the room. Contrasting lights blink on and off, illuminating the dark dance floor. The smell of alcohol consumes her nostrils, as the dancing crowd moves about on the dance floor. Internally she has been screaming to leave since the very first step into the club, but she maintains a smile on her face because Tiffany had asked her to accompany her. Tiffany. The special person she secretly loves for as long as she can remember. Tiffany is her best friend, mood booster, and energy pill. Tiffany is everything she isn't, but that never bothered her. For as much as the difference should tear them apart, it only succeeded in forming a closeness between the two girls. A closeness that includes the feeling that has been growing inside Taeyeon’s heart for all these years.

“Taeyeon-ah!” the husky voice automatically widens her smile into a genuine one.

“Yes?” Taeyeon answers as she turns her head to see the voice’s owner.

“Are you bored?” Tiffany asks. The concern is visible on her flushing face. “I am sorry for forcing you to come here.” She then giggles and takes a seat on the barstool beside Taeyeon. “But I need some fun!” She continues, half shouting.

Taeyeon lets out a small chuckle and pats her best friend’s back. “Yah! You’re drunk.”

Putting her elbow against the table's smooth surface, Tiffany leans her cheek on her open palm. Her gaze seems hazy, proving that she is barely sober. But that smile never leaves her face, along with the curve of her crescent-shaped eyes. A breathtaking smile that always manages to mesmerize Taeyeon.

“You should get some rest,” Taeyeon states, her calm hand still resting on Tiffany’s back.

“But the night just started,” Tiffany's whine soon turns into a chuckle. Definitely drunk.

Taeyeon can only shake her head in amusement. As much as she dislikes clubs and drinking, she would never protest when it comes to Tiffany. Instead, she keeps rubbing Tiffany’s back, until her friend suddenly straightens and jumps off the stool.

“I think I'm going to throw up!” Tiffany exclaims, covering with one hand before grabbing Taeyeon’s hand with the other. She pulls Taeyeon along with her to the restroom. They enter the nearest stall and Tiffany immediately squats in front of the toilet bowl, vomiting all the liquor she had drunk throughout the night out of her nauseous stomach. Taeyeon locks the door behind them. She bends over her best friend and supports her by holding the silky strands of hair back, to prevent them from getting dirty. Her free hand rubs Tiffany's heaving back once again. After a few minutes, filled with displeasing sounds and a stinging odor of stomach acids, Tiffany can finally stand up. She flushes the toilet and takes some toilet paper to wipe . Finished, she turns to smile over her shoulder.

If Taeyeon would have been drinking, that action would have left her stone-cold sober. No matter how often she sees Tiffany's smile, it will always have the same effect on her.

“Can you stay over?” Tiffany spins her body around, so she can face Taeyeon entirely. “I want someone to take care of my hangover tomorrow morning,” she groans, feeling dizzy due to the alcohol still in her system.

Taeyeon nods and smiles in understanding. She gently holds Tiffany’s arms to make sure the girl can stand properly. “I’ve told you that you should get some rest.”

“But, the night is still youuung~!” Tiffany whines again.

“Sh, no more alcohol for you, Missy," Taeyeon gives her friend a stern look, which results in cute pout on Tiffany's face. "Let’s get you to your apartment. Or I won’t stay over.”

“You are no fun.”

“And you are no sober,” Taeyeon replies, amused. She leads their way out of the restroom. Tiffany holds onto her, incapable of independently walking straight. After what feels like hours, Taeyeon manages to get them into her car. She places Tiffany on the passenger's seat and takes care to buckle her friend's seatbelt. Taeyeon gets into the driver's seat and proceeds to drive towards Tiffany's place.

It was a five-minute drive to the apartment. With her frail figure, Taeyeon tries to balance their steps until they reach the door. She punches in the key numbers while supporting Tiffany's full weight and opens the door with a grunt. Not caring about the shoes on their feet, she steps inside and drags Tiffany's half-asleep body towards the couch. She decides to temporarily lay Tiffany here, so she can lock the door and take off her shoes. Taeyeon carefully lays the drunk girl on the couch and smiles when she hears a soft snore. How can she be so cute even when she is drunk?

Walking to the front door, the sober one locks the door and takes off her shoes and coat, before approaching the sleeping girl on the couch. She squats down and takes Tiffany’s shoes off before standing up again to hover over her best friend.

“Fany, hey…” Taeyeon whispers.

A grunt answers her.

She chuckles and taps Tiffany's cheeks gently. “Hey, don’t you want to at least wash your face?”

“Nooooo…”

Taeyeon smiles at the cute whine and pulls the girl up. “Let’s go to your room then.”

Tiffany obediently stands up and follows Taeyeon to her bedroom. Even with the extra weight on her shoulder, Taeyeon manages to put Tiffany on the bed, but Tiffany has not let her go, still having her arms around Taeyeon’s neck. Taeyeon blushes at the lack of proximity between them.

“Fany-ah, let me go.”

“Never.”

The answer catches Taeyeon off guard, but she tries to keep calm, no matter how erratic her heart is beating.

“Yah! You need to sleep, and I need to sleep as well.”

“But you will stay, right?” Tiffany lazily opens her eyes and sticks her bottom lip out. Taeyeon blinks a couple of times, trying her best not to lean in and capture the pout with her lips. Gosh, if only we were not best friends.

“I will.”

Tiffany is hesitant, but lets go of Taeyeon. “Okay then,” she closes her eyes again and shifts a bit to lay on her side.

Taeyeon straightens her position and lingers until she hears a light snore from her best friend. Taeyeon smiles at the sight before her eyes and sits on the edge of the bed. She  Tiffany's hair, careful not to wake the drunk girl.

“Wash up and sleep, Taetae…” Tiffany mumbles without opening her eyes.

“Okay,” Taeyeon replies and stands up. She changes her clothes into more comfortable ones. After being best friends for over ten years, it has become unnecessary to bring clothes when staying over. She has a small section in Tiffany's closet to store her clothes in. Once changed into a loose Tee and comfy shorts, she gets in bed next to Tiffany, facing her best friend’s back.

“Fany-ah,” Taeyeon calls out her name.

Tiffany does not answer.

Sighing, Taeyeon scoots closer to minimize the gap between them. “Fany…” She calls out again, only to be answered with silence. She double-checks to see if Tiffany is really asleep and then shifts to lay on her back, staring at the ceiling.

“Why are we best friends, Fany?” she asks no one in particular. “Do you know how difficult it is for me to play it cool while my heart beats like crazy whenever we are together?” she closes her eyes, replaying the memories she and Tiffany have made together over the years. “Do you know that I need you more than as a friend? More than as a best friend? But I never show it, Fany, because I am too scared. I want to stay with you, not as your permanent best friend. I want to love you as something more.”

She stops for a moment.

“But what if you hate me because I love you the way I'm not supposed to? Would you want us to part if you knew? To be strangers all over again?”

She lets out a heavy sigh. It feels a bit better to spill out her feelings like this once in a while. Sometimes she doesn't feel strong enough to keep her feelings bottled up inside. But it is better to suffer in silence than for Tiffany to find out. Not now, not tomorrow, not ever. Her best friend should not know about it.

“Sometimes, I wish, if one day you figured out my feelings toward you, you wouldn't be angry. I wish you will realize you feel the same way about me. I love you, Fany-ah…”

A rustle is heard from beside her, so Taeyeon opens her eyes and turns her head, only to be surprised that Tiffany is already facing her with eyes wide open. An awkward silence fills the room. The two girls stare at each other, without exchanging a word.

“To whom were you talking to?” Tiffany finally breathes out.

“Uhm... no one,” Taeyeon answers nervously. “Sleep, Fany.” She decides to play it cool as if she did not say anything.

Tiffany’s eyes flutter, then she closes her eyes. “Don’t talk alone like a crazy girl,” mumbles the girl, as her eyes finally close.

Taeyeon heaves a relieving sigh. She is not sure whether Tiffany heard everything she said, but judging from the drunken state her best friend is currently in, she concludes that even if Tiffany heard, the latter will not remember anything come morning.

She lays on her side, facing Tiffany who seems to once again be sleeping. Her lips are slightly parted and soft breaths escape from them. Taeyeon gulps, trying hard not to lean forward to taste those lips. She stares at the sleeping beauty who was far away in dreamland. Biting her lips unsurely, Taeyeon scoots over a bit more. The gap between them diminishes, with their faces only an inch apart and their noses a fraction away from touching.

Can I kiss her?

The gap is almost non-existent.

Just one kiss, and that’s all.

Taeyeon keeps leaning in. Her lips brush Tiffany’s.

I love you, Fany.

A soft kiss, a light peck, and Taeyeon shiver at the smallest contact. The taste of alcohol still lingers on her lips but it doesn't bother Taeyeon.

Another peck, but Taeyeon doesn't want to pull away just yet. Tiffany’s lips feel so soft. She's been wanting to do this for a long time, but her courage failed her. Now here she is, kissing her best friend secretly, while the latter is sleeping. The thought brings sanity back to her head, and Taeyeon pulls away from the kiss. Her best friend is still sleeping with her steady breath, not bothered by anything. Taeyeon sighs in guilt as she scoots away to provide a distance between them, turning her back to her friend... “I am sorry, Fany…”

Tiffany wakes up to a nice scent of freshly brewed coffee. She blinks her eyes a couple of times before stretching her limbs outwards while yawning. She can feel her head throbbing from the effect of last night's drinking.

“I bet you won’t be able to pass the casting for bed commercial, if you wake up that way," Taeyeon enters the room with a tray of bacon & eggs, a cup of coffee, and a bottle of aspirin.

Tiffany groans as an answer. “I should tell you that your jokes aren't funny, especially when my head is about to explode,” she retorts and sits up to rest her back against the bedpost.

“Bacon and eggs, coffee, and aspirin. Go away, hangover! Shoo! Shoo!” Taeyeon keeps joking around while putting the tray on the nightstand. She hands the food to Tiffany, who still has her eyes closed, trying to cope with the consequences of reckless drinking.

Tiffany takes the plate and blinks her eyes repeatedly, before taking the first bite. “Next time, please refrain me from drinking too much,” she mumbles through a mouthful of bacon.

“You won’t listen to me. You will say, ‘You are no fun, Taetae!’, and then you will order another round of drink or run away to the dance floor.” Taeyeon shrugs nonchalantly.

“I am serious, Tae. I had a weird dream last night.”

Taeyeon’s heart stops for a moment upon hearing Tiffany’s statement, but she brushes it off like she always does. “Maybe you’re tired.”

“You said you love me,” Tiffany continues.

Taeyeon hums and takes her phone from the nightstand, trying to give Tiffany a sign of her disinterest.

“You said you want to love me more than as a friend,” Tiffany continues, not understanding the hint.

“And that is a very weird dream,” Taeyeon fakes a chuckle. “Or maybe, you secretly have a crush on me?” She wriggles her eyebrows to best friend.

Tiffany does not seem amused by the response, as she shrugs and takes another bite of her breakfast. “I thought it was a dream.”

“It was, wasn't it?”

“But it didn't stop there,” Tiffany chews her bacon and swallows it. “You also kissed me—.”

It is Taeyeon’s turn to shrug. “We kiss each other’s cheeks once in a whi-…”

“—on the lips,” Tiffany cuts Taeyeon’s sentence off.

Taeyeon gulps.

“What makes it weird is that it felt so real, so vivid. I could still feel the kiss, even after I woke up,” Tiffany looks up from her plate to stare at her best friend with an unreadable expression.

“That’s one hella weird dream,” Taeyeon responds coolly.

“But the weirdest part is…” Tiffany seems hesitant but she continues, “when I opened my eyes, I saw your back and I heard you say ‘I am sorry, Fany.’ What were you sorry for, Taeyeon?” Tiffany’s face turns serious and she puts the plate back on the nightstand, looking at Taeyeon sternly.

Taeyeon opens to answer but closes it again. Her mind is in chaos and she silently curses herself for the stupid confession she made last night, seeing as she's suffering the aftermath of her thoughtless action.

“Did you kiss me last night? Do you like me, you know, that way?” Tiffany continues questioning.

“I…” Taeyeon sighs and slides her phone to her jeans, before staring back at her best friend. Guilt is present in her eyes as she bites her lips nervously. “I…” she tries again, but she has no answer.

“You did,” Tiffany concludes on her own. She sighs and hides her face behind her hands.

Taeyeon stays silent and looks down at her lap. She doesn't have any courage to look at her best friend. She can imagine what will happen after this: Tiffany will yell at her. Tiffany cannot accept that her best friend romantically loves her. Tiffany will ask her to leave her alone. Tiffany will not want to see her face again. Tiffany will pull herself away from her, and they will become strangers as if they never met.

Nothing could have prepared her for this situation. She knows this will mean losing the precious friendship they have built for over ten years. She knows this means that she will lose the most precious person in her life. There will be no more Tiffany.

“I am sorry…” she mutters softly.

Tiffany uncovers her face. Her eyes are teary and she still has an unreadable expression on her face. “Why?” She asks bitterly, with her unsteady voice.

“I love you,” Taeyeon weakly replies. “And not as a best friend.” She can feel tears form in her eyes, on the verge of spilling.

“Why do you love me that way?” Taeyeon looks away, not wanting to see the hurt on Tiffany’s face. She knows her best friend must feel betrayed. And she does not want to see that, especially if she is the sole reason behind it.

“I did not choose it, Fany. It just happened. I don’t know why, or how, or when it did, but the feeling was suddenly there. And I don’t know how to dispose of it.”

Tiffany bites her lower lip and shakes her head in disbelief. “You did not choose. How cliche,” She snaps, then groans in desperation. “Can you please leave me alone, Tae?”

Even though she knew this would happen, Tiffany's request still feels like a punch in the gut.

“Okay.” Taeyeon stands up and walks out of the room with her head hanging low. “Don’t forget to take the meds,” she reminds her friend one last time before closing the door behind her and leaving Tiffany’s apartment for good.

***

It has been a week since the incident and Taeyeon has not heard a word from Tiffany. No call, no text, nothing. The week feels really strange for Taeyeon. She has never been apart from Tiffany for so long. Even when apart, they still had intense communication, be it over a phone call, video call, chats, or texts. But now, there is no contact.

Taeyeon shifts a bit in her bed. Ever since that day, she only leaves her room for work or food. Since her appetite left her, Taeyeon treats food as a necessity and only eats every two days. She finds no joy in eating because all the food she eats tastes bland. She's never been in a relationship before, and therefore does not know what heartbreak feels like. But living without Tiffany exposed her to the numbing pain of heartbreak. She takes her phone to browse her gallery, staring at some pictures of Tiffany and her together. She smiles a bit before her lips start to tremble and new tears escape her eyes.

“Fany-ah… I am sorry,” she says to herself. Her sight gets blurry as the tears stream down her face. She wipes her eyes with the back of her hand when her phone vibrates. A notification pops out on the screen. She reads the notification and immediately sits up, tapping the notification that leads her to the opened chat. From Tiffany.

“Hi.”

Just a ‘Hi’. She waits for a moment, wishing there will be more texts to come but there is nothing. She types a reply.

“Hi.”

A response comes after, “Busy?”

“No. Why?”

“Can I call?”

Taeyeon freezes. She misses Tiffany so much, but she is not ready to talk to her. She is not ready to hear Tiffany say that they cannot be friends anymore. She does not want to face the bitter truth now, tomorrow, or ever.

“Sure., she types and presses enter. A moment later, her phone rings, Tiffany’s name on the screen. She answers it right away.

“Hello.”

Silence answers.

“Fany?”

A sigh is heard across the line. “Can you stop loving me that way?”

Taeyeon keeps silent. She has two choices at the moment: saying that she can stop loving Tiffany and get her friendship back, or confessing that she cannot do so and lose Tiffany forever. No matter how much Taeyeon wants to keep her friendship intact, she knows she cannot lie to herself or Tiffany any longer.

“You can’t, can you?” Tiffany’s voice sounds disappointed.

Taeyeon does not say a word.

“Do you really love me?” A pause. “That way?”

Taeyeon nods weakly, but immediately answers when she realizes that Tiffany can't see her through the phone line, “Yes. I am sorry.”

Another sigh is heard across the line. “What can I do to make you stop, Tae?” Tiffany desperately asks.

“I don’t know, Fany,” Taeyeon answers truthfully. If she knew how to stop it, she would have put an end to it herself a long time ago.

Another silence fills Taeyeon’s ear.

“Don’t you think it's just curiosity? You know...we spend too much time together, so you might develop some kind of mixed feelings. Maybe it's not love. Maybe, it's just curiosity?” Tiffany tries to reason with her.

Taeyeon shakes her head in disagreement. Tiffany would not understand. She tried to date other people, boys, and girls, though she kept the latter a secret. It only revealed to her how much she has fallen for Tiffany.

After not getting any response from Taeyeon, Tiffany finally speaks up again. “Can we meet up? Should I go to your place? Or can you come over?”

Taeyeon gulps. She doesn't know what will happen after this, but she can't say no to Tiffany. “I will come over.”

“Okay. Do you want me to order some food? Bet you haven’t had proper food,” Tiffany sounds normal now, and Taeyeon feels relief for that small detail.

Kimchi jjigae will be great,” she answers with a small smile on her face.

“Okay. See you soon?”

“Okay.”

Taeyeon can hear the line cut and she immediately runs to the shower to make herself presentable to go to Tiffany’s apartment.

***

Taeyeon and Tiffany are sitting next to each other, each eating a bowl of kimchi jjigae. The atmosphere is not as awkward as Taeyeon thought it would be. Tiffany seems to be trying her best to act normal, but the distance between them states the opposite. Taeyeon knows Tiffany tried to put some distance between them. It hurts Taeyeon, but she is still thankful because Tiffany is at least trying to be with her. She does not dare to look at Tiffany. Even when they are talking to each other, Taeyeon prefers to stare at her bowl of kimchi jjigae, like it's the most interesting thing in the world.

After finishing their meals, Taeyeon takes initiative to wash the dishes. Tiffany usually helps her with it, but not today. Tiffany chooses to sit on the couch, watching some TV series, while playing with her phone every once in a while. When Taeyeon finishes, she joins Tiffany on the couch. respecting the distance, she sits as far from Tiffany as she can. Her friend steals a glance at her and scoots a bit closer, but not as close as it should be between best friends.

“Tae…” Tiffany calls out.

“Hmmm?” Taeyeon answers, not sparing a glance at Tiffany, keeping her gaze on the boring program playing on TV.

“Tae, I am talking to you. Look at me, would you?” her voice sounds stern.

Taeyeon turns her head to look at Tiffany for a split second before averting her eyes back to TV again.

“Taeyeon, Tiffany starts to become impatient and Taeyeon can hear it in her voice. “Let’s talk,” Tiffany states as she switches off the TV and sits closer to Taeyeon, cupping her best friend’s cheeks and turning her head forcefully. Once their eyes meet, Tiffany smiles at Taeyeon, the same smile that usually melts Taeyeon’s heart, but this time, the smile does not reach her eyes.

“We are best friends, are we not?” She asks, still cupping Taeyeon’s cheeks, making sure to maintain eye contact. Taeyeon nods dejectedly.

“Can you love me as only a best friend?” she asks softly.

Taeyeon shakes her head lifelessly. She knows she cannot. She has tried, but she is unable to brush aside this feeling.

“Try harder, would you?”

Taeyeon can feel tears forming in her eyes as she shakes her head again, disagreeing with what Tiffany asked.

“Please?” Tiffany keeps insisting and Taeyeon shakes her head furiously.

“I can’t,” Taeyeon bites her bottom lip. “If I could, I would have stopped already.” A lone tear escapes from the corner of Taeyeon's eyes and it catches Tiffany off guard. "I've already tried everything."

“Tae…”

“No, Fany. No. I can’t.” Taeyeon’s lips tremble and her voice shakes. “I can’t…” she sobs and lets another lone tear wet her cheek. Pushing Tiffany's hands off her cheeks, she pulls away and folds her legs up on the couch, hugging her knees. She bends her head to hide between her knees and mumbles, “I am sorry. I can’t.”

Tiffany looks at her crying best friend. She has known for a long time already that Taeyeon’s affection is a bit too much for just a friend. The way Taeyeon would look at her, Tiffany has always suspected that it was more than just friends. She knew that this day would come. But she tried to reason and ignored all of the signs. She chose to ignore it, and she still holds onto her belief that Taeyeon only loves her as a best friend and nothing more. But, somehow she feels guilty for ignoring Taeyeon's feelings. If only she had acted sooner, maybe Taeyeon’s heart could have been spared from this pain. If only she had been brave enough to talk about it, then maybe now Taeyeon would not be as broken. She feels guilty because she knew all of these years. She knew she took Taeyeon’s love for granted. Tiffany takes Taeyeon’s hands once again, pulling them away so her best friend releases the hold on her knees.

“Taetae…” she calls out softly.

Taeyeon keeps hiding her face.

“I will only say it once, so could you please look at me this time. Because I am not going to repeat what I am about to say.”

Taeyeon hesitantly lifts her face, revealing her wet cheeks and her red nose. Tiffany smiles and wipes the tears with one hand.

“Listen to me, okay?”

Taeyeon nods.

“I need to be honest to you,” she decides to tell Taeyeon. “I’ve known about this – your feelings – even before that night.” She clears groggily.

Taeyeon blinks in surprise. She is sure that she hid it really well. It's impossible that Tiffany knew about it.

“Your eyes and affections can’t lie, Taetae,” Tiffany explains without being asked, and Taeyeon nods once again. “I was too afraid to face the truth. Not because I don’t want you to love me. I love you too, that’s a fact. But only as a friend. I can’t reciprocate your feelings, that’s why I acted as if I did not know anything.”

Taeyeon keeps silent. She does not know what to say or how to react. It is all clear. Tiffany will never be hers.

“I am sorry. I took all your love for granted.” Tiffany looks deep into Taeyeon’s eyes, and Taeyeon can see, how sincere Tiffany's apology is.

“It is okay. I do not wish for something in return.,” Taeyeon finally answers.

“Lies,” Tiffany shakes her head. “I still remember what you said that night. You said that you wished that I would feel the same way.”

Taeyeon sighs, it is true. Every person who knows the feeling of falling in love must’ve had the wish that their affections would be reciprocated.

“I do not feel the same way, Taetae.”

Taeyeon wishes Tiffany would stop talking. It pains her more than she can handle.

“Not now at least.” She continues, making Taeyeon furrow her eyebrows in confusion. Tiffany closes her eyes. She seems hesitant but when she opens her eyes and looks at Taeyeon’s sad face she decides to do what she thinks was right at the moment.

“Could you give me time? To at least like you that way?”

Taeyeon can feel her heart miss a beat. She did not see that coming. She had prepared herself to listen to Tiffany say that they shouldn't be friends anymore.

“I… I've never been in a relationship with uhm… girls. I don’t know if I will ever be able to return your feelings, but would you let me try?”

Taeyeon blinks her eyes. Once. Twice. Three times. She tries to digest everything she just heard. It sounds so surreal.

“I do not mean to experiment with you.” Tiffany quickly explains. “I just think that… It would not be fair towards you or your feelings if I do not even try to return them.”

“Fany…” Taeyeon finally says a word. “You don’t need to do that.”

“What if I want to?”

Taeyeon frowns.

“I’ve been thinking about this for a week now. I don’t want to lose you. No, I can’t lose you. You’re one of the most precious people in my life, Tae.” She chuckles a bit. “Do you remember one of my favorite songs, Overjoyed?”

Taeyeon nods.

“The lyrics say, ‘all true love needs is a chance. And maybe with a chance, you will find you too like I, overjoyed, over loved, over you.’ Give me that chance, please? I can’t promise you anything. I can’t promise you that I will be able to return your feelings. I can’t even promise you that I will ever return your feelings. But a chance is all I ask now, Taetae.”

Taeyeon finally smiles a little, fixing her seat and rubbing her eyes with the back of her hand. “Thank you…” she whispers. “But, I am afraid… What if it won’t work out?”

Tiffany holds Taeyeon’s hand gently and gives it a soft squeeze. “A chance. That’s all I'm asking for.”

Taeyeon looks at how their hands intertwine together and shifts her gaze to meet Tiffany’s eyes. Once again she sees the sincerity shine in them. “But I might want to hold your hand, hug you, and even kiss you now and then. And you will feel uncomfortable with that.” She mumbles as she puts her gaze back to their holding hands when suddenly a soft peck lands on her cheek. She blinks and looks up only to find Tiffany grin nervously.

“We’ve kissed anyway. You stole a kiss when I was asleep.” She states teasingly, making Taeyeon blush. “Uhm, wait. Not a kiss. It was two kisses, right?”

Taeyeon blushes even harder and turns her head to the TV. Tiffany chuckles at the sight before her eyes.

“Taetae.”

Taeyeon turns her head back to Tiffany, and her heart stops for the second time today when a pair of soft lips land on hers, giving a quick peck.

“Fa-Fany?” she stutters and stares at Tiffany in surprise.

Tiffany smiles groggily but then laughs softly. “I think I can get used to kissing you after some more kisses.” She tries to stop her laugh and smiles once again. “So, a chance for me?”

Taeyeon can still feel her hot face and she is certain her face is all red at the moment, but she nods. “Just tell me if you feel uncomfortable,” she whispers.

“Thank you, Taetae,” Tiffany says, beaming her smile once again.

“Thank you too, Fany.” Taeyeon smiles along. A sincere smile.
