Colors of the SeasonThe sound of the blades scratching the ice and the steady whoosh of the air had Minho smiling as he neared the ice rink. He stood at the entrance, watching Taemin make those graceful twirls and jumps. “Hey!” he called out when he saw Taemin slow down.
“You’re here finally!” Taemin grinned as he went to greet Minho. “Put them on and join me.” he gestured towards the spare skates on the bench.
“You know I can’t skate.” Minho watched amusedly as Taemin glided across the rink.
“Put them on now!” Taemin called out, chuckling, “Otherwise I’ll drag you in here without them.”
Minho sighed, he carefully put them on and with the support of the rink barriers he walked toward Taemin. “What’s next?”
Taemin grinned sheepishly as he stopped in front of him. “Now we skate.” He gently took Minho’s hand in his and lead him across the ice.
“Hey hey hey!” Minho panicked a few minutes later, “We are going too fast.”
“No, we are not.” Taemin chuckled. “Trust me.” and he closed the distance between him and Minho in a single step, planting a soft kiss on Minho’s lips.
Minho, a member of the National basketball team, had first seen Taemin at the yearly athletic award ceremony held in their country. He was intrigued by the tall, sharp-featured, handsomely beautiful man sitting across the room from him. Their eyes had met once or maybe twice and the smile he got in return had his eyes glued on Taemin for the rest of the night.
A few chance meetings more and Minho found himself asking Taemin out. Their first few dates were initially a bit awkward, but their passion for their sports broke the awkwardness bit by bit and soon they grew close. This Christmas would mark their second year anniversary.
They kept their relationship hidden from their families, their coaches, Minho’s team and the whole world, fearing the repercussions on their respective careers if the news got out. But that fear was long gone as time passed…they didn’t care if their secret was out. They had realized that nothing was worth not being together.
