Your hired

Strangers love

“What do you mean he canceled!” Woobin yelled at the woman before him, knowing very well it wasn’t her fault. “How could he cancel the day of the opening!”

“He said it was something about family.” The woman answered quickly. “I tried convincing him to reconsider but he was already out of the city.”

“Aish!” Woobin ran his hand through his already messy hair as he looked around him, hoping a pianist would just casually walk bye. “What about the one we used last time?”

“He retired last year.” The woman replied, looking through the file in her hand. “I have contacted everyone we have worked with before but no one is available today.”

This couldn’t be happening, not today of all days. It was only an hour left until the grand opening of the mall's new floor and they needed a pianist for the main stage. The whole floor was built around the stage and without anything there it would look dull and lifeless.

“What should i do sir?” the woman asked, looking at his ready to do anything he asked.

“I don’t know, you don’t happen to know someone that play piano really way and would be free for…” Woobin’s eyes widened as a sudden thought hit him, there may be a way to fix this. “Never mind, i need to make a quick phone call so please excuse me.”

When he heard the door close Woobin pulled out his phone, quickly looking through his call log and pressing the number when he found it. Almost immediately after the first beep someone picked up.

“Yoboseo?”

“Ah.. Jongsuk-ah it’s Woobin.” Woobin smiled into the phone. “I’m sorry for calling you out of the blue but i was wondering if you were free today?”

“Uhm.. yeah, it’s one of my off days.”

“Oh well..” Woobin cleared his throat as he looked around the room nervously. “I kind of need you’re help, i hired a pianist for a job but he canceled in the last minute and i was wondering if you could take his place, you will get paid of course.”

“Really? When do i need to come and where should i be?”

“If you could come as soon as posible that would be lovely and it’s the Cental City mall.” Woobin answered, feeling relieved that it seemed like Jongsuk would take the job.

“Got it, i’ll be there in about twenty minutes.”

“Okay, i’ll wait for you by the front entry.” Woobin nodded entusiastisk. “I’ll see you in twenty minutes.”

“Yeah, see you.”

Jongsuk had been excited when he got Woobin’s called and luckily he was already in the central of Seoul so it wasn’t a long walk to get to the mall. He had the feeling this was going to be a good day, he was going to meet Woobin, he was going to play the piano the whole day and get payed for it at that. What more could he ask for.

As he looked around the entrance hall he didn\t spot Woobin anywhere so he decided to sit down on a nearby bench as he watched the people walk by. It was quite crowded even though it was still considered morning and Jongsuk couldn’t help but smile as he spotted a group of kids running around, capes fluttering behind them as they played.

“What are you doing?” A voice suddenly whispered in his ear and before he could turn around Woobin sat down beside him. “Sorry for asking you to come out of the blue.”

“It’s no problem.” Jongsuk quickly shook his head. “Some extra cash won’t hurt.”

At this Woobin nodded before letting his eyes sweep over Jongsuk, taking in everything from the other’s worn out jeans and simple white T-shirt to his black sneakers and red scarf.

“Come with me.” Woobin said as he stood up, Jongsuk quickly following his through the mall until the reached a specific store.

Jongsuk had never been in this kind of store before, everything looked so expensive and out of his price range it almost made his dissy, not to mention he had never even owned a suit, not even a crappy one.

“What can i help you with?” A woman asked as they stepped in, her face lighting up in a big smile.

“I need something for him.” Woobin answered and pointed towards Jongsuk who looked at him with big eyes. “Just something simple but fashionable will do.”

“Wah- i don’t..”

“Of course sir.” The woman bowed. “I’ll be right back so please wait for a while.”

“Woobin-ah..” Jongsuk mumbled, looking at the other uncertain. “Why.. Why do i need this?”

Woobin turned to look at him with a raised eyebrow. “Don’t worry about it, see it as a work uniform if you will.”

“But why-”

“Please try these out sir.” The woman suddenly came out of nowhere, a small pile of clothes in her arms as he handed them to Jongsuk who had no other choice but to take them. “The fitting room is that way.”

Jongsuk was about to say something but he was cut of when Woobin lightly pushed him towards the direction the woman had been pointing.

When he was secure behind the locked fitting room door he took a look at the clothes and his eyes widened. It wasn’t really much, a white shirt, a pair of black pants, a costume jacket and a tie. But everything looked like it was made of freaking silk or something, it felt so soft he was sure he would destroy it just by touching it.

At first he was going to protest and say that this wasn’t necessary but then again when was he going to get such an opportunity again, he had never wore a suit in his life so why not try it out at least for a day. The fabric was soft against his skin as he slipped the white shirt on but as he started to button it up he realised he wouldn’t be able to do it all the way up. He felt uncomfortable when the fabrik closed around his neck and quickly opened the button again, leaving it open as he changed into the rest, leaving only the tie. Firstly he had never wore something like this before, secondly he didn’t like thing’s sitting tight around his neck area and third he had no idea how to tie it correctly so he just left it.

Woobin couldn’t help but stare as Jongsuk walked out of the fitting room, he looked so different from before it was hard to tell if it was actually the same person.

“Ehm.. it this.. okay?” Jongsuk asked, nervous by the other’s eyes flying over him.

“Was the tie not to you’re liking?” The woman asked as she apparently saw the unused tie in Jongsuk’s hand. “Should i see if i can find another one for you?”

“No!” Jongsuk quickly stopped her before she could vanish again. “I.. It’s just that i don’t.. i don’t feel comfortable with things around my neck.”

Woobin raised a brow as he could clearly see the red scarf in the other’s hand but he guessed it was different, a tie was supposed to sit tight while a scarf could be loos. But it wasn’t like he minded, Jongsuk would look good with or without tie so it didn’t matter anyway.

“Good, now follow me.” Woobin said before quickly walking out of the store again, Jongsuk flashing the woman beside them a smile before following the other.

“We got ten minutes left so let’s hurry up.” Woobin mumbled more to himself the Jongsuk as he looked at his wrist watch. It was already crowded since it was the grand opening soon so Woobin decided to take the emplois only elevator to get to the floor.

When Jongsuk lay eyes on the big white piano standing on the stage in the middle of the big round room his eyes widened. It was a magnificent sight, the piano  overlooking the stores around.

“Wow..” Jongsuk couldn’t help but let out a big smile as his fingers brushed over the key’s.

“You think you could use it?” Woobin asked as he closely looked at the other.

“Use it?” Jongsuk asked with a laugh as he sat down before the instrument. “I can do more then use it, i can play it.”

“Well that's good.. i guess..” Woobin nodded, slightly thrown off by the other’s comment.

“Have you ever played?” Jongsuk asked as he looked up at the man beside him, Woobin’s eyes growing wider as he shook his head.

“No.”

Jongsuk smiled innocent before suddenly grabbing Woobin’s arm, pulling the other down beside him on the stool beside him. “I’ll teach you, it’s not that hard.”

“Wah- no i really can’t.” Woobin quickly made an attempt at standing up but was stopped by Jongsuk who pulled him back.

“Just place one finger here.” Jongsuk instructed as he grabbed Woobin’s hand, placing it at the correct place. “Then take another finger here and the last here.”

Woobin wasn’t sure why but it suddenly became very hot and stuffy in the big space, he would have to check on that later.

“Now just press them down rhythmical.” Jongsuk instructed and Woobin found himself doing as he was told, his eyes drifting to the other as Jongsuk placed his hands on the piano as well and started playing the melody. “See, that wasn’t so hard.” Jongsuk flashed a bright smile making Woobin lose concentration.

They stayed for a while, just looking at each other as they both had stopped playing before Woobin got up.

“Ehm.. I need to go to a meeting.” He quickly excused himself. “If you’re free sometimes please give me a call and i’ll treat you to dinner or a drink as thank you.”

With that Woobin quickly disappeared, not entirely sure what that last part he said was but somehow glad he said it.

Because it means he would get to see Jongsuk again.
