If You Love Me, Say It (Continuation from part 1 )

Jimin & Rose

“So…I guess I’ll see you tomorrow”

They hang out the whole night and didn’t notice it was getting late. Jimin was worried she’ll get a cold so they decided to turn in at around 3:28am.

“Yeah, I’ll see you tomorrow…9:00am right?” Rose said trying to contain her happiness.

“Right, 9am. Good night…I-I mean…good morning.” Jimin scratches his head as he waits for her to go inside her room.

Rose gave a giddy laugh as she waves him good bye. “Good mornight. See yah.”

The moment Rose closes her door; Jimin jumped to his place and pumped a fist on the air. He was so happy he felt like he was in a dream. He thought things like this only happens in movies but now it was happening to him. He was in cloud nine as he was pacing his way to the elevator when some girl got out from a room. He almost ignored the girl but he couldn’t help but look when she’s dressed only on her nighties. He was about to apologize but she recognized the girl…

“Jennie? What are-”

Then a guy who was wearing a robe opened the door. Jimin know that this guy was the groom’s best man. He also knows that this is Jennie’s fiancé.

“Don’t forget your clothes will you!”

Jimin watched Jennie snatched her clothes from the guy’s hands.

“Hey man…” The guy nodded at him sleepily and waved at Jennie. “Bye sweetheart.” He called to Jennie.

The guy shut his door closed. That left an awkward silence between the two.

“WE DO NO SPEAK OF THIS!” Jennie faced Jimin, her eyebrow raising up.

“Hey, I was just an innocent man just happened to pass by…” Jimin noted while raising his arms.

“Where’s Rose?”

“In your room…she’s probably sleeping right now.”

Jennie eyed him suspiciously. “Don’t get involve with her!”

Jimin sighed and lazily looked at his new “sister.”

“I won’t speak of you and your fiancé…so you should let me do what I want. I like your friend. She’s more sensible than you.” He said and turned his heel away from Jennie.

“Whatever loser…” She snapped and went to her room.

The next day, Jimin and Rose decided to visit Gamcheon village. When they got there, Rose was all about the painting on the walls and collecting stamps.

“My parents don’t support me when it comes to arts. They say that I could do better and that I can always do art in the future. They wanted me to pursue engineering instead. Since mom is one, she thinks I should follow her steps.” Rose sighed as they continue to look for more stamps.

“Parents are like that. I also wanted to pursue arts… I actually wanted architecture. But my parents don’t have that kind of money to support me if I ever pushed it through. So I took up physical therapy. It wasn’t that bad. Where did you say you’re school is?”

“Oh…I’m homeschooled. I should be a freshman in a university right now…but…it’s my parents…they worry I might get bad influenced.” Rose said, taking Polaroid pictures of sceneries.

Jimin smirked and shook his head. “So you’re an only child and you’re homeschooled? You must be a problem kid! No wonder your friends with Jennie!!!”

Rose gave a whack on his arm. “I am not a problem child! And why do you hate Jen Unnie so much? I don’t think she’s ever mentioned you before.”

“Who doesn’t hate her?” Jimin doesn’t really hate Jennie. Deep down, he still believes that he can be friends with the devil. He just thinks that she’s too much to handle that’s all.

Rose turned to him and pinches his chest.

“OWWWW~ LADY YOU’RE GETTING PHYSICAL!”

“Has anyone ever told you that you look like a baby?” Rose uttered, her face teasing Jimin. She wanted to pinch his cheeks so bad but she’s afraid he’ll curse her.

“Don’t. Ever. Think. About. It.” Jimin said reading her thoughts.

“Aigoo, how rude.”

The two of them had lunch at some nearby café. Jimin took the opportunity to know more about Rose.

“I’m gonna get down to business and ask you about your favorites.” He said putting his hands together in excitement.

“Hahaha, okay. Get ready; this will be a long day.” Rose joked.

“What’s your favorite color?”

“Pink! Sometimes I like purple.”

Jimin laughs at the way she talks with her hands. He thinks it’s cute. He tried to mimic her, but she pinched his cheeks. His smiles have suddenly fled.

“Oh come on, you gotta have to let someone do that. You have fluffy cheeks!”

Their day couldn’t be any better. The weather was perfect and they’re both enjoying each other’s company so what else could go wrong right?

“Pssst…young lady…” An old woman called out to Rose. “Come here!”

She looked at wherever Jimin’s at and found him just standing by the gift shop. This should be fine, she thought.

“Are you curious what the future holds for you?”

Rose only realized she just entered a Spiritual Shop. This woman must be a soothsayer; it wouldn’t hurt if I try right?

“Um, yeah. Doesn’t everybody?” She answered to the old lady. She paid one last look at Jimin before entering inside the shop. This shouldn’t be long, she thought.

The lady guided her into her table where everything that’s there is sparkling with colors like a kaleidoscope. The place smelled like cinnamon and she noticed that there’s also smoke coming from incense. The woman then laid out tarot cards and smiled at her.

“You’re a very lucky young lady.” She started. “To have met your soul mate at such a young age is rare nowadays. Trust him all the time…he won’t break your heart.”

“My soul mate? Are you talking about…Jimin Oppa?” Rose giggled at the thought but the lady ignored her. She doesn’t normally believe in these things.

She draws another card and squinted at Rose.

“You’re very close to your friends. I can also say the same for your soul mate. Be careful who you let inside your circle. People will try to get even just a tiny bit of what you have.” The old woman continues to speak.

“I don’t get it…” Rose was getting uncomfortable just hearing the lady’s premonitions.

“Most of all don’t be blinded by what you see on the surface. The real evil isn’t shown on a person’s face, but inside him.”

“That’s really creepy. I…I think, I should get going now.”

Rose got up and fixed her dress. She was looking for her back pack when she remembered she left her bag with Jimin.

“Remember young lady, what’s important is what you have, not what you don’t. Never doubt yourself or anyone you love just because of what you hear. The moment you step out of this room, you and your soul mate will be tested. You will be apart, but you will always find a way back to each other.”

Rose got goose bumps hearing the final words of the old woman. She didn’t know what happened next; it was very fast that she found herself in the middle of the village.

Jimin was busy looking at cute plushies thinking that Rose was close by.

“Say, Chaeyie…what do you like best, the nice cute good looking one or the cold-hearted bad boy?” He asked curious about her ideal type.

“I know, lots of girls would prefer the bad boy…but the cute good looking ones are usually the marrying ty- Chaeyoungie?” He got bothered when he saw it was a different girl who’s beside him.

Some of the girls are giggling at the sight of him. He excused himself and stood on his toes to go look for her inside the shop.

He sprinted outside to search for her the moment he knows she was nowhere near.

“Excuse me!” He ran to an old lady and asked for some questions. “Have you seen a girl…about 168cm tall, she has long black hair and she’s wearing a cute dress?”

“Oh, a beautiful girl?”

“Yes, yes! She’s quite the charmer. You’ve seen her?”

“Are you her boyfriend?”

Jimin automatically blushed. He couldn’t hide his smile and shook his head. “N-no…I’m her friend. But, she’s not from around here. So it would be a big help if you tell me where she went.”

“Oh, its okay if young lovers get lost. Sometimes, it’s the only way to know what you really want in life. You wouldn’t chase for something that’s not worth it if you think it’s not important right?” She smiled at him.

“You know Grandma, you remind me so much of my Namjoon Hyung. Maybe you guys should hang out together.” He muttered almost giving up.

“If you want to find her, then open your senses. You don’t know that maybe what you’re looking for is just standing a few walls away…I think she went that way.” She finally told him.

Jimin bowed at her quickly and thanked the old woman.

After an hour under the sun, Jimin was getting impatient. He sat in one of the steps and wiped the sweat on his forehead. He unconsciously opened Rose’s bag to get the water and drink from it when he realized what he did.

“Well…she’s not here so no one’s getting mad at me.” He said to himself and check out the stuff inside Rose’s bag. There was an umbrella and a pouch full of girly stuff. There are also candies, a book about mythology, a pencil case and a journal.

“AHA! Here’s the key to my success.” He announced then looked around to check if no one’s paying attention to him. Well, there’s a few but it. The temptation was too great to even care.

He excitedly flipped through pages and stopped at some part where there are a lot of doodles. There was also a headline that says: Rose’s Bucket List.

Jimin’s smile slowly crept through his face. “The odds are in my favor.” He gets his phone and took a picture of that certain page of Rose’s journal. He was tempted to read more but this time a lot of pages have English on it and the ones in Korean are irrelevant. Nevertheless, it was getting good for Jimin. If only he could find her now, it would be much of a relief.

Almost 2 hours have passed and Rose realized that she’s just got to trust God and Jimin if she wanted to be found. She decided to stay at some kid’s playground and sat on the bench under a shade. It was fortunate that she has her money with her, if not; she won’t be eating an ice cream right now. Having a phone doesn’t help her either because it’s out of battery. She sighed and thought about the tarot reading earlier.

“Maybe she was right.” She muttered to herself while eating the ice cream. “If Jimin was the soul mate she’s talking about…then he’ll definitely find me. Yes, that’s right. He’ll be here. I know it.”

But the sun was already setting and still, there was no sign of Jimin. What’s worse is that Rose was getting scared. People that walk by are turning into few and it bothers her that she’ll have to find her way back alone. Then when she thought she’d had the worst, the thunder starts to rumble.

She looked up and closed her eyes. “Great. What luck huh?” Now she’s pissed off. The rain started to drop.

“I HATE YOU PARK JIMIN! IF YOU CAN’T FIND ME NOW I’M GOING TO KILL YOU!”

Jimin was getting more and more worried as each minute pass by. He got to find her now that it’s going to rain. He sure as hell won’t go back without her. She’s probably scared by now. He’s scared to answer his phone too. It’s probably Jennie getting worried about them. He only managed to shut her up when he brought up the “Wonwoo” topic.

“Come on Chaeyoungah, just give me a sign…”

“I HATE YOU PARK JIMIN! IF YOU CAN’T FIND ME NOW I’M GOING TO KILL YOU!

“That’s it!” He exclaimed when he heard her.

“YOU ARE SO DEAD WHEN YOU GET HERE!!! I’M STARTING TO HATE BUSAN NOW!”

He followed her voice and found her getting soaked by the rain little by little. He stopped at the sight.

“I wonder when she’ll stop being so beautiful.” He sighed then ran towards her.

Rose watch the colors of the village turned dull when it started raining. She was getting entertained by the raindrops when it suddenly stopped raining on her spot. But of course, it couldn’t be possible if not for someone…

“I’m sorry I’m late.”

She looked up and saw him all handsome and cute with her umbrella on his hand shielding them both from the rain.

“I was going on circles looking for you. Turns out you were just here in the park. Wow, why didn’t I think of that?”

Jimin suddenly got nervous when she stood up. He thought she was finally gonna kill him when she attacked him with a hug.

“I’m so glad you came. I didn’t know what I’d do without you. Thanks for coming for me. I knew you wouldn’t leave.” She spoke while pulling him close. He didn’t complain when she hugged him tighter. He didn’t even care if he’s getting wet because of her clothes.

“I’m glad I found you too.” He said lightly patting her head and hugging her back. “Come on; let’s get you home before your friend kills me.”

They were both silent during the bus ride. Rose was seated by the window looking at the view while Jimin was having a debate inside his head on whether or not he’s gonna talk to her. He’s also noticed that she’s sleepy and he’s also thinking if he’s gonna put his arm around her or he’ll just let it be…

He decided to try and make a move. While she was looking hazily by the window, Jimin slowly lifts his arm and try putting it on the back of her seat. But he’s out of luck now because she turned to him like she knew what he was doing.

“HOooooh…”He pretended to yawn and pushed his hair back. Mission Skinship was a failure.

“Jiminshi…”

“Just call me Oppa. Please drop the formalities with me. Okay?” He said making her blush.

“Do you believe in soul mates Jimin oppa?”

For some reason, Jimin wasn’t surprised by her question. He has read about soul mates before and he thought it was a beautiful thing. The idea that you’re for a certain person and that you two are made for each other even before you were born gives him hope. That it’s not as crazy as what others think it is to be to fall in love. That it’s not supposed to be dramatic…it can just be as simple as a first glance.

“I think it’s absurd. But I believe it. I mean why do you think a lot of people do crazy things for?”

She made a confused face and waited for him to tell her more.

“Do you know the story of the red string of fate?”

“No…what is it?”

“Well, it’s a myth.” He pulled out his phone and keyed in ‘red string of fate.’ An article appeared and he read…

“The two people connected by the red string are destined lovers, regardless of place, time, or circumstances. This magical string may stretch or tangle, but never break.”

Rose was now paying close attention to what he was reading and now that they’re really close, he couldn’t help but gulp at their proximity.

“According to this myth, the gods tie an invisible red cord around the ankles of those that are destined to meet one another in a certain situation or help each other in a certain way. Often, in Japanese culture, it is thought to be tied around the little finger.”

“Wow, I thought soul mates are just people with the same taste and interests. I didn’t know it could also be like that.”

Rose took Jimin’s hand and looked at it.

“What are you doing?”

“I’m trying to find a red string. Haha.”

He gently flicked a finger on her head.

“Haha, that’s lame. It’s okay, you’re cute anyway.”

Rose made a face and poked his cheek which got him annoyed the most.

“Something weird happened to me today.” She discussed to him what happened before she got lost.

Jimin suddenly remembered that old lady he met earlier. There was actually a rumor going around the village that says some old villager likes to play around with tourists. They say that she’s some kind of a witch. She’s good with good people and she’s worst with the worst. She drives anyone away of the village if she knows that he or she is a bad person.

He kept his mouth shut about this to Rose and just told her that it happens to anyone who entered that shop.

“What do you think she meant by letting people in my circle?” She asked him. “Are your friends bad people?”

“Ha, I wish. Unfortunately, they’re the good ones so it’s not that easy to get rid of them.” He said trying to figure out the words the witch told Rose on his own.

“Look, maybe she meant it generally. I think tarot readings aren’t all interpreted literally. My sister had gone for one, and when the fortune teller told her that a pig would come to our house and bring good fortune it turned out that it was our fat uncle who came and paid us his remaining debts.”

“You’re right.” She agreed and put her head on his shoulder. “I’m sleepy Oppa. Wake me up when we get there.”

“Hey…before you go to sleep, can I ask you one thing?”

“What?”

“Do you think we’re soul mates?” Jimin didn’t know where he got the guts to ask her that question. It’s probably because the way they’re sitting together made him brave.

There was a long pause before she spoke.

“I’ll pretend I didn’t hear that.”

“Okay.”

Back to square one: awkwardness.

They got back to the hotel at 8pm and it was a miracle that Jennie was out of sight.

Jimin walked Rose to her room again and waited for her to go inside.

“I’m sorry for today. If…if you still want to hang out, I’m free tomorrow.”

“Don’t be sorry. It was still unforgettable though.” She said trying to act cute.

“Stop, you know it was a mess.” He was still upset about what happened.

“Tch. I’m free tomorrow though.”

“Really?”

“Yeah! Um, but this time, I think I’d prefer to just go to a café.” They both laughed at her suggestion. Maybe after what happened earlier, they wouldn’t go for a tour anytime soon.

“Okay. Um, I’ll wait for you by the café across the hotel.” He said swaying like a love sick pup.

“Okay. Same time alright? All you have to do is turn up, and maybe I’ll consider you as my soul mate.”

“So does that mean you’d be my girl if I show up?”

“Hmmm…maybe.” She shrugs.

“Aish! Stop being cheeky~”

“You know you better go before Unnie catches you here.”

“I think she’s the evil witch.”

“GO!”

“Tss…” He was going for a hug when he heard the elevator rang. “Okay, I’ll see you tomorrow. Bye Chaeyi…”

“Bye!” She waved at him and watched him enter the elevator. She waited for it to close and before she gets inside her suite she said...

"I really wish it was you Jimin Oppa."
