Fifth Shot

Yuta was worried about the way he’d act next to Taeyong now that he was aware of his feelings. He’d been awake for almost an hour now but he continued to lie down on his bed, scared of getting up and seeing Taeyong’s bright expression so early in the morning. If he was honest, it took a whole lot of control not to kiss the older last night. Even though the awareness for his feelings was new, the feelings weren’t and Yuta wanted nothing more than to act on them.

“Yuta, I’m ordering for breakfast. Is that okay?” Taeyong’s voice startled Yuta, causing him to hit the headboard.

Yuta groaned. “Oww. Uh, yeah. It’s fine.”

Taeyong opened the door without preamble. “You okay there?”

“Yeah.” Yuta mumbled, feeling his cheeks heat up. “Just… got shocked is all.”

“Okay? You look a little red though? Are you coming down with something?”

Yuta scrambled off the bed, pushing Taeyong out of the door before the other could do anything. The Japanese male already knew what the older would do: Taeyong would come in his room, lean his forehead against Yuta’s to check his temperature and that intimate moment was too much for Yuta at this hour.

“Yuta?” Taeyong called out, hurt and confusion evident in his voice.

“I’m fine, Tae! I’ll be out after I shower.” Yuta said.

“Oh, okay.”

Yuta sighed, hearing footsteps moving away from his room. He didn’t even have to see the other to know that Taeyong has that defeated puppy look on his face. Yuta groaned, thumping his head on the door. Why did he have to be so stupid?

--

Yuta stepped out of the room, following the heavenly scent of the delivery. He wasn’t surprised to see Taeyong’s books sprawled out on the living room, already having guessed the reason why they had to order out. Taeyong was reading some of his notes, a plate of untouched jjajangmyeon hanging precariously at the edge of the coffee table near him. Yuta clicked his tongue, quickly grabbing the plate before it could fall while grabbing Taeyong’s wrist at the same time.

“You’re going to mess up your notes. Eat first then study.” Yuta scolded as he placed the jjajangmyeon on the table.

“We have an unannounced exam tomorrow. I need to study, Yuta.” Taeyong whined.

“If it was unannounced, then how’d you know?” Yuta asked, grabbing the utensils and handing them to Taeyong.

“Dowoon found out.” Taeyong shrugged. “He always finds things out.”

Yuta racked his brain on what Dowoon looked like but came up with nothing. It bothered him slightly because Taeyong wasn’t the most social person, only having a few friends and Yuta was certain that he knew all of them. “Who’s Dowoon again?”

“Oh, you haven’t met him. We started talking just last week, I think?” taeyong mused. “Anyway, let’s eat so I can go back to studying. Want anything to drink?”

“Mind making us some lemonade?” Yuta replied, making a mental note to find out who Dowoon was.

Taeyong only hummed before starting the preparations. Yuta mixed both of their jjajangmyeons, knowing that the older was serious when he said he needed to hurry. Taeyong was a fairly good student and usually did alright with exams but he didn’t take to surprises well. His brain would get pressured and he’d have a mental block even though he regularly reviewed his notes. Yuta had to admit that he was thankful to whoever this Dowoon guy was because Yuta wouldn’t want Taeyong to freak out tomorrow.

The two of them ate quietly and hurriedly. Taeyong was obviously itching to go back to his notes, eyes drifting to the living room more than once. The lapse in attention resulted to him getting some sauce on his cheeks when he tried to eat without looking. Yuta snorted, reaching over to wipe at it for the nth time, relishing at the sheepish smile Taeyong would direct him.

“I’ll clean up so go study.” Yuta announced once they were finished.

“Thanks, Yuta.” Taeyong said cheerfully.

And then Taeyong made Yuta’s heart race even more when the older kissed him on the cheek, almost making Yuta drop the dishes he was holding. Taeyong had giggled at the younger’s reaction before making his way back to the living room.

“Pretty dense, my .” Yuta whispered to himself.

--

Yuta knew better than to disturb Taeyong while the other was studying. So after cleaning up, he tried to find some things to do. Bringing out his camera, Yuta started choosing pictures from last night that he could actually use. While he chose to delete some, Yuta chose to add majority of the shots to his personal folder. Taeyong was just so beautiful; Yuta actually caught himself smiling stupidly at one of the shots. After organizing everything, he glanced at his idea notebook. He was still missing pride, greed and lust for his project. The Japanese male blushed at the prospect of shooting Taeyong for lust, the different images his brain came up with was more than just artistic value.

Glancing at his phone, Yuta noticed that he’d left Taeyong alone for almost two hours. He figured it was okay to bother the older now. Picking up his camera, more out of habit nowadays, Yuta headed out to the living room. Taeyong was buried nose deep in his Economics book and Yuta scoffed when he found it cute. God, he was whipped.

Click. Click.

Yuta grinned when Taeyong raised his head in shock, snapping a picture of that one as well. He continued taking pictures even when Taeyong pouted at him, when Taeyong started frowning and just plain ignored him.

“You could look in the camera, you know. I think I have a dozen shots of the top of your head now.” Yuta complained, taking a seat on the floor.

“You should have stopped taking my picture then.” Taeyong commented. “Besides, what sin am I doing right now?”

“The sin of being too beautiful.” Yuta said genuinely, smiling when he saw the older’s cheeks redden with his comment.

Taeyong made a dismissive gesture, trying to cover his face. “Shut up.”

“Nice comeback.” Yuta snorted. “My 6thgrader cousin could think of better insults than you.”

“My 3rdgrader cousin behaves better than you do anyway.” Taeyong replied.

“Ouch.” Yuta laughed, lying down with his head on Taeyong’s lap. “I’m bored and alone. Notice me.”

Taeyong only mumbled in response, making Yuta whine. When whining didn’t work, Yuta started wriggling around, somehow knocking off some notes from the table. Taeyong fixed him an icy glare but Yuta only pouted up at him.

“Why are you such a child?” Taeyong mumbled, picking up the notes.

“Because I’m bored and you do boring stuff.” Yuta replied.

“I’m studying?” Taeyong replied in offense.

“Study later.” Yuta whined, turning so he could hug Taeyong’s stomach. “We just made up and all you do is study. I’m starting to feel offended here.”

Taeyong sighed, long and deep; Yuta knew he won. The older leaned back, Yuta following him happily. The two of them didn’t speak and Yuta was actually worried that he might have said something wrong but then Taeyong’s hand made its way to the younger’s hair, just petting him slightly. Yuta hummed in content, nuzzling the older’s stomach.

“You make it so hard for me.” Taeyong whispered quietly. Yuta wouldn’t have heard it if he wasn’t that close to the other.

“Make what hard?” Yuta answered back just as soft, pulling back a bit.

Taeyong only shook his head, eyes looking just a tad sad as he continued playing with Yuta’s hair. The younger didn’t know what was going on but what he did know was that he didn’t like seeing that expression on Taeyong’s face. But, what could he do if Taeyong wouldn’t say anything? Yuta already knew from experience that forcing the other to say what’s wrong had the opposite effect. The more curious Yuta got, the harder Taeyong would try to keep it bottled up. Even so, the Japanese male wanted to do something for the other, wanted to see Taeyong smiling again.

“You know, whoever you fall in love with is going to be so lucky.” Yuta mumbled without thinking.

Taeyong chuckled, the sound coming off as a little forced, a little shocked. “What?”

“Yeah. That person will have you as their own person. You’re so sweet and amazing and perfect and beautiful and absolutely breath-taking.” Yuta rambled, finding himself more honest than he ever was.

It wasn’t like he could help it though. Here on Taeyong’s lap, Yuta could honestly say that he didn’t want to be anywhere else, wouldn’t want to be with anyone else. Taeyong was a gift from the heavens for Yuta. When Yuta broke it off with THE ex, he had been a mess and his sassy personality was bordering on more often than not. When he found out that he’d be sharing the dorm room with someone else, Yuta wasn’t all that pleased with it, honestly. Until he actually met Taeyong. Taeyong with his bright eyes and even brighter smile. Taeyong with his soft words and big heart. Taeyong who was just soft and gentle all around. Needless to say, meeting Taeyong had brought out the Yuta that even Yuta could say wasn’t pretty bad, good enough to be Hansol’s boyfriend anyway.

Looking at Taeyong now, lips parted in shock with his eyes widened, Yuta realized that ever since finding out how he felt, he had never once considered the possibility that Taeyong might fall in love with someone that wasn’t him. The thought was unnerving but Yuta knew that his words were still true. That person would be the luckiest person on earth and the Japanese male only hoped that whoever it was would know it.

“Lucky. So lucky indeed.” Yuta whispered, raising his hand to caress Taeyong’s cheek.

Taeyong smiled, closing his eyes. “All I want is for that person to love me back.”

‘And I wish that person would be me.’ Yuta thought to himself as he let his hand drop.

--

Taeyong let out a sigh as they passed their exams forward. The exam was pretty hard and he had a feeling that he may have bombed it. Looking around the room, he guessed he wasn’t the only one with that sentiment. Tipping his head back, Taeyong closed his eyes, trying to push his concerns aside. It was done already and there was nothing he could do about it anymore. Worrying about it would just stress him out. He couldn’t help but smile as he imagined Yuta saying those words to him. Yuta did always stop him from stressing out uselessly.

“What’s that smile for? Aced the exam?”

Taeyong opened his eyes, smiling when he saw Wonpil and Dowoon standing there. “Not a chance. Even with your tip, the test was something else.”

“So, why the smile?” Wonpil asked.

“Just thought of something, hyung.” Taeyong said, getting up to fix his things. He raised an eyebrow as he looked at Wonpil, only just noticing how disheveled the other looked. “Are you alright, hyung? You look tired.”

“Jae hyung and Brian hyung were having… some kind of celebration last night and I couldn’t really study. They were screaming until 3 in the morning!” Wonpil complained with a pout.

Taeyong cooed, pinching Wonpil’s cheeks even though the latter was older. “Come on, hyung. I’ll treat you to something sweet. You look like you need it.”

Wonpil’s eyes lit up. “Really, Taeyongie? You’d do that for hyung?”

“Yah, me too!” Dowoon exclaimed.

“I’ll treat both of you. Let’s go to Seventh Sense!” Taeyong said, leading the way out.

Taeyong remained quiet as the three made their way to Seventh Sense. He had always found it amusing how Wonpil and Dowoon acted together. Wonpil would always cling to the younger and though Dowoon would whine about it, he didn’t really push the older off. It was cute and Taeyong found himself laughing at their antics.

Hansol’s eyebrows were raised when he saw Taeyong following after Wonpil and Dowoon, probably because the two were comparing their hand sizes to Taeyong and were just simply holding onto him now. Taeyong sent Hansol a sheepish smile, ordering food for the three of them.

“Uh, I need to get my wallet.” Taeyong said when neither would let go of his hand.

“Let go of his hand, Dowoonie.” Wonpil said, clinging onto Taeyong’s arm. “You’re so warm, Taeyongie.”

“Why don’t you let go, hyung? Be the responsible older one.” Dowoon retorted. “And stop hogging Taeyongie!”

Hansol’s eyebrows rose even more. “I’ll just.. put it on your tab, dragon. Think you’ll be able to get your food?”

Wonpil grinned at Hansol. “Dowoon has it covered. Come on. Let’s find a table, Taeyongie.” He dragged Taeyong off before anyone could react.

Taeyong sighed in relief when Wonpil actually let go of him once they got seated. Dowoon was still waiting for their order, standing by the counter while glaring at Wonpil. Wonpil just stuck his tongue out before letting his eyes roam the café. Taeyong felt a sense of pride when he saw the older’s eyes light up the more he looked around.

“It’s so nice here. I might drag the hyungs here sometime.” Wonpil finally commented, grinning brightly.

Taeyong smiled back. “You should! It’s really relaxing here.”

“Staffs aren’t bad on the eyes either.” Wonpil added, glancing at Hansol. “A friend of yours?”

“Yeah. Hansol hyung works here with another friend of mine, Jaehyun. He’ll come by sometime later.” Taeyong explained, waving at Dowoon once their orders are done.

Wonpil made a face at Dowoon before turning his focus back on Taeyong. “And he calls you dragon? That’s so cute. Can I call you that as well?”

“Call him what? Oh my god, is this another one of your creative nicknames?” Dowoon asked as he took a seat with them.

“Let’s call Taeyongie dragon!” Wonpil exclaimed.

Dowoon grinned, nodding his head. “Our cute dragon!”

“I am the same age as you and I am not cute.” Taeyong mumbled, grabbing his sandwich.

“You’re very cute, dragon.” Wonpil said. “It’s unbelievable.” He added in English.

Taeyong couldn’t help but laugh when Wonpil and Dowoon suddenly started talking to each other in English, their attempts at it being very cute. He was so focused on the two that he jumped when the chair beside him was pulled, making him turn around to see Yuta with his poker face on. Wonpil and Dowoon were still busy trying to outdo each other that they haven’t noticed the addition to their table while Taeyong was trying to figure out why Yuta sat down with them. It wasn’t weird for the two of them to sit with the other’s friends but Taeyong was sure he had never looked at Yuta’s friends the way the Japanese male was looking at the two.

“Well, let’s just ask dragon who’s better at English then!” Wonpil exclaimed, turning his attention to Taeyong and finally noticing Yuta. “Oh, uh, hi?”

“Did you just call Tae as dragon?” Yuta asked.

Taeyong lightly hit Yuta’s arm, giving him a look. “This is my roommate, Yuta. Yuta, this is Wonpil hyung and Dowoon.”

Yuta turned to Dowoon, eyeing him up and down. “So, you’re Dowoon, huh.”

“Have we met before?” Dowoon asked.

“No, which is weirder.” Yuta answered, shrugging a bit.

Wonpil raised an eyebrow. “Are you dragon’s boyfriend?”

Taeyong blushed. “Hyung!”

“I’m not Tae’s boyfriend.” Yuta replied in a strangely calm manner. “I just haven’t met the two of you which is strange cause I usually know all of Tae’s classmates.”

“Huh, sounds like a boyfriend to me but whatever you say.” Wonpil shrugged before turning to Taeyong. “Aigoo, is our dragon blushing?” He said, cooing as he pinched Taeyong’s cheeks.

“See, I told you that Taeyongie was the cutest, hyung!” Dowoon added, taking a picture of Taeyong trying to free himself from Wonpil’s grasp.

“Hyuuuung, stop.” Taeyong whined though the small giggles coming out from his mouth contradicted what he was saying.

“I don’t think you actually mind, dragon.” Wonpil said, beaming at the younger.

--

Yuta wanted a quiet place to organize his project which was why he headed to Seventh Sense. Taeyong wasn’t replying to his messages so he figured the other might have gone to the library. So, he was understandably surprised to see his roommate at the café, watching two other people as they argued about something. It wasn’t even the fact that he didn’t know who the guys were, it was the fact that Taeyong looked so comfortable with them, not minding that the other customers were already looking at them and sitting there in contentment as he watched the two.

“Close your mouth, Yuta. It’s not very attractive.” Hansol called out. Yuta startled, turning to the older. Hansol had followed his gaze, watching Taeyong with a hint of amusement. “Dragon has made some noisy new friends, hasn’t he? Clingy too. The cute one didn’t want to let go of him when they ordered.”

Yuta huffed, slapping his wallet on the counter. “Why are you so gossipy anyway? You should be working, not meddling with the customers’ lives. Pork katsudon again, thanks.”

“I happen to be dragon’s friend as well, excuse you.” Hansol replied, rolling his eyes. “Don’t take your jealousy out on me.”

“Am not. why do I even have to be jealous?” Yuta said, frowning when he turned his eyes back to the trio. “Don’t even know who they are.”

“Ah so that’s why you’re mad.” Hansol laughed. “Gonna sit with them? I still have to make your order.”

“Should I?” Yuta huffed. “Taeyong looks happy there.”

“What if the cute one got too close with dragon? You can’t just glare at them from another table.” Hansol laughed. “I charged their food to you, by the way. Now, off you go.” Hansol smirked, pushing Yuta towards the three.

Yuta was beginning to doubt Taeil’s sanity. Taeil was such a nice person; how did he end up with someone as evil as Hansol? Much to Yuta’s disappointment, both Wonpil and Dowoon were very clingy to Taeyong, touching him one way or another, pinching his cheeks whenever they wanted and Taeyong was just accepting all of it. Hansol still hadn’t brought Yuta’s food so Yuta had resorted to stealing some of Taeyong’s food which ended with Wonpil giving him the stink eye.

“Here, have mine. I wasn’t that hungry anyway.” Wonpil said, pushing his plate of cheesecake to Yuta. “Just stop stealing dragon’s food.”

Yuta blushed, sinking into his seat further. He was saved from replying when Taeyong laughed, taking a bite from the sandwich Yuta was eating earlier. Taeyong smiled at Wonpil. “It’s okay, hyung. Yuta and I are usually like this. I’ll get some of his food later as well.” He pushed Wonpil’s plate back. “Eat this, hyung. You said you wanted me to treat you but you’re just giving it away.” He added a pout at the end.

Yuta rolled his eyes when he saw how fast Wonpil took the plate back and started eating despite his claim of not being hungry. Dowoon just laughed at the mess on the other’s face but Yuta could see him trying to sneak a picture of Taeyong pouting. Then, Hansol finally arrived with Yuta’s food wearing a eating grin and Yuta would have kicked the older then and there but he knew Taeyong would get mad at that so he settled for glaring at the other.

“Sorry, line was long.” Hansol excused feebly.

“There literally wasn’t any customer after me.” Yuta countered. He took the chopsticks, handing them to Taeyong. “Whatever, just go. Tae, you can have the first bite.”

Yuta grinned when Taeyong dug in, completely unaware of how Wonpil and Dowoon were staring at them. The Japanese male tried and failed to hide his smug reaction. Just like that, he and Taeyong had their own little world again. Yuta sat up in his place, letting his arm casually fall on his roommate’s shoulder, not missing how Wonpil’s eyes followed the movement. He mentally shrugged it off, choosing to focus instead on what Taeyong was telling him. From time to time, Taeyong would ask Wonpil or Dowoon some things but for the most part, Taeyong’s attention stayed with Yuta.

And Yuta loved it. Maybe he never paid much attention to it before but being the object of Taeyong’s focus was something Yuta wasn’t willing to share. Wasn’t willing to share without getting sulky about it anyway. Was he being greedy about it? Maybe but he couldn’t find it in himself to care. He wanted Taeyong to look at him with those bright eyes and just him only, not on Wonpil, not on Dowoon, not anyone else.

“What’s that look for?” Taeyong asked, poking his cheek.

Yuta shook his head. “I just figured out how great my idea for greed is.”

“Oh, when are we shooting it?”

“I already borrowed the auditorium tomorrow.”

Taeyong’s eyes widened. “The auditorium? We’re shooting there?”

“Hold on. Shooting what? Dragon, are you some kind of actor?” Wonpil asked curiously.

Yuta smirked, pulling Taeyong a tad bit closer to him. “No but he is a model, my model.”

Wonpil’s eyes widened before he nodded, stage whispering to Dowoon. “Told you he was dragon’s boyfriend.”

And if Yuta puffed his chest out upon hearing that, it wasn’t anyone’s business but his.

--

The auditorium was dark and cold when Yuta and Taeyong walked in during their free period. Doyoung and Jaehyun had tagged along with them to assist in the shoot but Yuta knew that the two were curious about the concept of the shoot today.

Honestly, Yuta couldn’t blame them. He was also very excited about today’s shoot. The stage was one of the few places that could make Taeyong shine even more than usual so it was imperative that there was a shot of him there. The Japanese male knew that the doe eyed male was also curious about the setting for today. Yuta had given him no instructions about today and just told him to go to class just like normal.

They had put their bags down on the first row, looking around at the dark hall before Taeyong looked expectantly at Yuta. Jaehyun went off to turn on the lights, Yuta specifying which lights were needed.

“So, we’re here.” Taeyong said, raising his eyebrows.

“Yes, Tae, we’re here.” Yuta said, opening his bag to dig around for his camera and the appropriate lens.

“Why are we here, Yuta?” Taeyong asked, easily climbing the stage before taking a seat by the edge.

Yuta grinned, snapping a picture of Taeyong so relaxed and casual on stage. “Guess.”

“Oh my God.” Doyoung groaned. “Are the two of you shooting some drama? Because if this is your big confession moment, I sort of don’t want to be here.”

“I do!” Jaehyun piped in, running down to them. “Is that what we’re doing? I don’t get why you need witnesses for your confession since it’s not like you’re getting married but I have no complaints.”

The Japanese male rolled his eyes, covering up his eyes with his bangs to hide his embarrassed face. “Shut up. It’s nothing like that.” He straightened up when Doyoung scoffed, kicking his knee. “We’re shooting pride and greed,”

“In here? How come?” Doyoung asked, surveying the room.

Jaehyun followed his boyfriend’s eyes. “I get the pride thing because of the stage. But greed? How?”

“Greed for attention.” Taeyong whispered almost reverently. Yuta locked eyes with his roommate, feeling goosebumps rising at how Taeyong’s gaze had changed. This was “charismatic dancer Taeyong” and Yuta felt like melting under that heated gaze. “You said that to me before, right? That when I dance, it’s like I’m greedy for attention, right?”

Doyoung had to nudge Yuta to snap him out of his daze. Shooting the younger a grateful smile, Yuta nodded at Taeyong. “Yeah, that’s how I got the idea.” Yuta paused, thinking about something. “I mean it sort of sounds bad because pride and greed are still sins but you make them the good kind? Does that make sense?”

Taeyong chuckled, smiling at the raven haired in amusement. “Not really.” Taeyong was smiling that cocky grin, the grin that was playful and enough to make the girls swoon.

Yuta swallowed before speaking. “I don’t think that saying the stage is your home is right because it feels different from how you usually are. I guess you could say it’s your haven? Your domain? I don’t know if I’m describing it right but what I do know is that you on stage is the brightest I’ve seen you. You’re so confident and y and charismatic and simply eye catching. It’s like the crowd has no choice but to watch you.”

Silence hang in the air after Yuta’s statement and the Japanese male was starting to feel self-conscious. He could feel Doyoung and Jaehyun staring at him but Taeyong’s gaze was practically searing him. The hushed atmosphere was broken only when Jaehyun sneezed, startling both Yuta and Taeyong. Yuta breathed in relief when his roommate finally looked away, swiftly getting up and getting ready on stage.

“I’m sorry.” Jaehyun said, smiling sheepishly.

Yuta tried to chuckle but it sounded like he was trying to breathe. “It’s fine.”

“You said you weren’t confessing. Sounded like a confession to me.” Doyoung inquired, eyes focused on Yuta’s expression.

The photographer rolled his eyes, trying to keep his blush at bay. “As if I would confess to Tae with the two of you here.”

Yuta did not expect Jaehyun to start screaming while Doyoung was just staring at him bug eyed. Jaehyun had even started jumping up and down, blond hair bouncing excitedly as he shook Yuta by his shoulders.

“You finally admitted it!” Doyoung whispered in awe. “Holy . You finally admitted it. It took a damn project for you to realize the truth.”

“What are the two of you whispering about?” Taeyong asked, having come over from all the commotion. He turned to Jaehyun who was still bouncing on his feet. “Yah, Jung Jaehyun, what’s going on with you?”

“Hyung!” Jaehyun exclaimed before climbing the stage and throwing himself at the now bug-eyed Taeyong. “I’m so so so happy for you!”

Yuta laughed at Doyoung’s stressed expression while the two of them watched Jaehyun bouncing and hugging Taeyong at the same time. After taking a few shots of the two, Yuta figured that Jaehyun had been excited for long enough and it was already time to start the shoot. Coughing loudly, the Japanese lad waited for the blonde to stop bouncing and look at him before pointing at his watch. With one last grin directed at Taeyong, Jaehyun hopped off the stage, clambering over to his boyfriend.

“Uhm, so I’m not sure what just happened but are we starting the shoot now?” Taeyong said a bit dazedly, obviously jostled by Jaehyun constantly shaking him.

“Yeah, sorry about that.” Yuta smiled. He turned to Doyoung and Jaehyun. “Jaehyun, mind helping me set up my tripods? I was thinking of using more than one camera for different angles and I need to get the position right. Doyoung, can you head over to the control booth?” Reaching into his pocket, Yuta pulled out his phone, unlocking it before handing it to the other. “I’ve already made a playlist. It’s called Shoot. So just play the songs.”

Doyoung nodded seriously, taking the phone from the other and checking the playlist. “How long are you going to shoot? Yuta hyung, can we even use the auditorium for this long?!”

Yuta shrugged. “Depends on when the emotions show.”

Jaehyun peered over his boyfriend’s shoulder, eyes widening at the screen. “It’s like a show set list. Taeyong hyung, you can’t possibly dance to all of this by yourself.”

Yuta’s eyes went to the beautiful boy on stage. Taeyong was already stretching, eyes firm and set as he looked back at Jaehyun. “Watch me.” Taeyong said confidently, jumping on the balls of his feet as he spoke. “Let’s start.”

--

Yuta will probably-no, definitely- never get tired of watching Taeyong dance. It’s always been a little challenging watching his roommate perform on dance showcases before. The university’s dance crew was big in number, group performances always making the stage look so crowded. Even when someone performed really well, there was always the tendency that they’d be forgotten when another member took the center. Even with Yuta watching Taeyong like a hawk during showcases, he’d still get him lost sometimes.

But Taeyong’s solo performances commanded attention. And attention he got.

The Taeyong now was like the Taeyong during his rare solos in dance showcases yet so different.

Yuta knew that solos always made Taeyong equally scared and excited. The dancer was scared that no one was going to pay any attention to his performance since he wasn’t the reason they attended. It was that same fear that led to Taeyong absolutely claiming the stage when he was alone. His eyes bore a fire that was fierce, alluring and completely captivating.

It honestly took a great deal of the photographer’s attention to continue the shoot. Yuta had set up two cameras on either side of the stage with Jaehyun manning the other. It was a good thing that the blonde had taken Photography lessons before and actually knew what he was doing. At around the third song, Hansol walked in, distracting Taeyong momentarily. Yuta could see how his roommate was mentally chiding himself, the frustrated look on his face evident for a moment before Taeyong smoothed his expression over. Yuta snapped a picture of that as well.

"Sorry I'm late. Got held up in class." Hansol murmured as he walked past, heading over to the right camera while giving Jaehyun a nod.
Yuta shrugged, toying with his camera. "You arrived at least."

Squaring his shoulders, Yuta tried to stop or at least ignore the fluttering of his stomach to actually continue the shoot. With Hansol here, the Japanese male didn't have the excuse of moving back and forth to simply watch Taeyong. It wasn't like Yuta didn't try to focus on the task on hand but it was very difficult. The grace and power of Taeyong's moves were beyond real and Yuta could only hope that the pictures would look half as beautiful.

Taeyong continued to dance and Yuta continued to be mesmerized. He was only able to continue taking pictures because of his muscle memory. Yuta wanted to preserve these moments on film but he also wanted to see them with his eye. Time continued to past like that until the music just suddenly stopped. Yuta didn't know who was more shocked about it: him or Taeyong. The doe eyed boy stood in the middle of the stage, body still rigid, probably getting ready to continue to dance. When no music played, Taeyong glared at Yuta as if it was his fault.

"You're going to hurt yourself if you keep dancing, dragon. We've had more than enough shots." Hansol said quietly, getting the camera from the tripod. "Right, Yuta?"
Yuta had to blink a few times to get his bearings. He was so concentrated on Taeyong's dance that seeing the other unmoving disoriented him. "Uh..." He turned to Hansol who was also glaring at him. "Oh, uh, yeah." He cleared his throat, eyes focusing on Taeyong now. "You must be tired, Tae."
"I can still dance, Yuta." Taeyong said fiercely as if Yuta was judging his capacity to perform. "Jae, tell Doyoung to play the music."
"Jaehyun, go fetch Doyoung. We're done for the day." Hansol ordered.
Jaehyun's eyes drifted between Hansol and Taeyong, clearly confused on what to do. Yuta took pity on the younger and put his camera down. "Go call Doyoung. I'm starving." Yuta said calmly.
"R-right." Jaehyun said softly, giving Taeyong an apologetic smile before going off to get his boyfriend.
"Hyung!" Taeyong exclaimed, frowning at Hansol.
Hansol just sighed, calmly organizing the camera into the bag. "You already danced more than enough, dragon. Knock it off." He looked past Yuta, waving. "Mind helping me here, Ilie?"

Yuta furrowed his brows when Taeil jogged past him, helping Hansol with the tripod. Yuta didn't even notice the older coming in. He must have been too focused on the shoot. Taeil clapped Taeyong's shoulder before he and Hansol went down the stage, walking past Yuta to where their things were.

"Yuta..." Taeyong said, mouth still slumped in a frown as he crouched down by the edge of the stage. "I'm fine with continuing the shoot."
Yuta smiled because of course, Taeyong would be. Taeyong's stubborn streak was going to be the death of the two of them someday. Humming to himself, Yuta headed over to his bag, pulling out the towel he had prepared. Walking back to the stage, Yuta chuckled when he saw that Taeyong had already resorted to pouting. "We have more than enough pictures, Tae. Honestly, probably more than needed. Adding more would just make it more difficult for me to choose which ones to use." Yuta said, handing over the towel. "Thank you for your hard work today."
Taeyong sighed but took the towel anyway. He took a seat, swinging his legs around as he looked back at Yuta. "If you say so." He chuckled when Yuta smiled back at him. "Good job, Mr. Photographer. And thank you, too. I haven't danced recently and this was such a great way to get back into it. I missed the stage." Taeyong beamed, eyes sweeping over the auditorium.

Yuta walked closer to the stage, settling himself in the space between Taeyong's legs as he followed his roommate's eyes before they went back to the man in front of him. Yuta rested his arms on either sides of Taeyong's thighs. The doe eyed boy was warm from all the dancing he's done and Yuta liked the warmth from this proximity. Raising his head, Yuta watched with a fond smile as Taeyong continued smiling.

"Really, Yuta, thank you." Taeyong whispered, finally turning to look at Yuta.

And Yuta's heart skipped a beat for a second before it raced in his chest. Yuta didn't think of the consequences of how close they were. Taeyong's eyes were staring back at him and was that Yuta's imagination or did his roommate look at his lips? Suddenly Yuta found himself staring at Taeyong's lips and how plump they were. Would they feel as soft as he had imagined against his own? Yuta wouldn't even have to move that much before their lips would touch... Just a little closer.

A sneeze broke the silence.

"Seriously?" Doyoung said exasperatedly.
"I'm sorry." Jaehyun mumbled.

Yuta could now feel everyone's eyes on the two of them and he could feel his face heating up. When did Yuta even stand on his toes? Leaning back on the balls of his feet, Yuta tried to look away from Taeyong's heated gaze, feeling the warm sensation all over his body but he couldn't. A small smirk flitted to Taeyong's face before he cupped Yuta's cheek, caressing the soft skin before getting up.

"Yeah, I think we're good now." Taeyong said, voice slightly breathless.

Jumping offstage, Taeyong reached for his bag before turning back to look at Yuta.

"Coming,Yuta kun?"
