(1) You get into your neighbour's room.

____________________   When my seniors told me that college days would be "gone in a daze", I didn't expect it to be literal. At the very least, I would expect to end my freshman orientation week in a more sober state. I couldn't recall anything that happened that night, nor how I manage to stumble against the weight of my-similarly-drunk-friends all the way back to the dorms. We reeked of alcohol and was an unsightly mess. Yet our minds were dancing on cloud nine, too lost to bring ourselves back to senses. I must have left them at some point, probably by the road as they tumbled and fell. Did I laugh then? Probably. I could be mean when I get drunk. Being drunk that night was accidental. I hardly drink, so when my friends tested my limits, it didn't take long for the alcohol to overcome my system. Miraculously, I stayed on my two feet all the way back to the familiar sight of the dormitories. Anything thereafter, I heard from him in time to come.    - ∞ - The ceiling seemed misaligned from my usual morning view. The fan that was usually at the centre of my dormitory room was now directly above my head, spinning at a distance that seemed slightly too far. Everything seemed almost surreal as I woke up to a softly running record of American 2000s pop rock in a room that smelled lightly of instrument wood. It was hard to retract oneself from this inviting sense of serenity. It was everything that I dreamed of but everything that my room never was.   Until I tried to turn and bury my head in the pillow again.    I woke up to my senses with a jolt. I was tightly rolled into an unfamiliar blanket that smelled lightly of lavender shower gel and completely unable to move my limbs. My head was sticking out of the constrictive bind and resting on a pink pillow that was placed in the middle of the room. To put it simply, I woke up as a sushi roll on the floor, in the middle of a stranger's room. I let out an involuntary scream that lasted so briefly I thought I hadn't screamed at all, but the other occupant in the room stirred in his sleep.    Oh Lord, there's someone else in the room.    The boy looked visibly annoyed that I woke him up prematurely on a Saturday morning. Clad in an oversized T-shirt and a pair of joggers, the boy got off the bed and was now standing beside me, a towering figure beside me as I lay helplessly on the floor. My defense mechanisms kicked in. "Oh my god, what did you do?" I glared at him straight in the eyes (though his were barely slits since he was squinting from the morning sun).    "Oh shut up." He gestured for me to roll over. It took a while for me to realise what he was trying to do. I rolled over just as he signaled, and as he held on to the edge of the blanket, I rolled with all my might in the opposite direction to untangle myself. Despite his pale countenance, he was stronger than I thought. So when he pulled the blanket a bit too hard, I lay flat on my face after unraveling myself from the mess. Merciless, he pulled the remaining bit under my stomach away, wrapped the blanket around himself, and went back to bed. He wrapped himself around a bolster, much like a squishy koala.    "Hey!" The situation was absurd and I was ready to protest. Shaking him awake, I insisted on a detailed explanation.    "Who are you? Why am I in your room? What did you do to me? Why am I wrapped like a sushi roll lying on the floor?"    "Kim Sunggyu, your neighbour's older cousin. No idea why you ended up in my room, or more like Mijoo's room, but I honestly think you deserved the floor kiddo. You came in last night while I was asleep, tried to invade my bed space by climbing in, and I took a full hour to settle your wasted self in a blanket. I even gave you the pillow!"    I was taken aback by the explanation and took a moment to assess the room around me. It was Mijoo's room. Kpop posters pasted all over the room, photos of her friends (including myself), a guitar and portable speaker that seemed out of place with her feminine room. Evidently, those were Sunggyu's belongings for his temporary stay. I realised that he had indeed offered me the pillow and blanket, while he clamped on to the bolster for the night.    "No way I am going to offer you my bolster and the mattress. You deserve it." He squinted at me. I would assume those were angry eyes but really, I couldn't tell.   The awkwardness was filling the room as reality hit me. Invading the bed of your neighbour's cousin was not a good idea, drunk or sober.   Wait...my neighbo-   "Where is Mijoo?"   "She's on holiday." Mijoo and her spontaneous urges to get away from semester never failed to amuse me.    "Why are you here?"   "I wanted a place to stay in school these couple of weeks so I threatened her to lend me the room while she's gone. Sorry, but why am I telling you this again?" He was preparing to lie down in bed again.    "That's illegal. Co-renting or sharing of residences are against th-"   In a quick motion, the red-haired boy stretched out his arm and pulled my neck. I was standing at the edge of the bed, afraid to cross boundaries like the night before. His hand was on my nape and our faces barely 3 inches apart.    "It's illegal only if you let anyone know. But I am sure you would not because you want a good college life, Ms Freshman." He took out his phone and showed me a snapshot of my terrible sleeping state the night before.    "You!" I was enraged beyond words.    He gave me that wry smile that curved his eyes into two crescents. "Gotcha!"   For the slightest moment, my heart skipped a beat.    - ∞ - Unfortunately Kim Sunggyu couldn't care less about being discovered. Mijoo was happily playing in Japan the last I texted her, and had no intentions of returning anytime soon. "Will be back by exams!" Curses.   I quickly discovered that Sunggyu had this unbreakable charm about him that made people fall to his feet. They weren't crazy over him, but everybody liked him. He made friends with everyone on the floor, so the student residential assistant (the senior student who takes care of the residents in the dormitory in each block) was happy to cover up for him. So was everybody else on the floor. He had a way of getting to people that appealed to them immediately, yet you only had to catch him at the right times to know he really was the devil. Yet in the few weeks, I was the only one to thread on that path. That photo became the start of a nightmare for me, as he started dishing out errands for me.   "Laundry."    "Remove that Kpop boyband poster. Put this one up." (It was a Nell poster.)   "Buy me lunch." Occasionally he

Chapter 7: Chapter 7: Such a cute story, and yes it could have gone really cheesy really quickly, but you wrote it well so I think it's just on the right side of saccharine :) I love how they communicated and got to know each other through these notes, whether it was post its or coasters, and even the lyrics on napkins. I really enjoyed reading the others as well! But this is the one I keep coming back to.
