Chapter Three

Forbidden Love

"Sungji, is my father home yet?" Yougjae asked, looking at the girl cleaning her room.

"No, miss. I haven't seen him yet, but I know master Yoo is going to be home at around 5 in the afternoon." The girl smiled before resuming to her cleaning.

Ten more hours until my hell begins, huh?

"I told you to drop the formality when you're alone with me. Think of me as a friend. You can call my father an old man, or a scumbag for all I care. And quit cleaning my room, woman. I just cleaned it myself 5 minutes ago." Youngjae rolled her eyes at the girl and huffed out a breath.

Despite her straightforward personality, Youngjae is known to be the kindest to the staffs in the household next to her brother, who is a legit sunshine. The two Youngjaes are known to really hate being seen as higher than others. They hate their social status and could care less about their father's business. Since young, Youngjae was always taught by her mother to not view herself as more superior than other people because of her father and their wealth.

"Sorry, Youngjae. But I still have to do my job. Plus, you missed a few spots so I'm cleaning it up for you." Sungji said, smiling at her.

Youngjae sighed and puffed out her cheeks, pouting at the girl. The two girls chatted until Sungji was called to clean the rest of the house with the other maids. As soon as the maid left her room, Youngjae jumped out of her bed and ran to her door, looking outside to make sure no one is around her room before running back in her room, closing the door behind her. Walking into her closet, she also closed the door to the closet before walking to the end of her closet. Pushing the clothes apart to reveal a hidden door, Youngjae smiled before turning the door knob. Heading up a set of stairs, Youngjae couldn't stop the smile forming on her face. It's been years since she came up to her hidden room.

Once she reached the top of the stairs, she headed towards the window first, opening the curtains to let the sunlight pour into the room. A ray of sunlight directly hit an object in the middle of the room and Youngjae's smile turned bigger. Within steps, Youngjae reached the middle of the room and pulled off the sheet that was on top of the object. Running her hand over the lid of the glossy, shinny black grand piano, Youngjae opened it, setting it on the lid prop, then moving on to opening the fall board. Pulling out the piano bench, Youngjae sat down and excerised her fingers before playing a chord, surpised that the piano is still in tune. Playing another chord, she started to play a piece that she knows by heart. There was no hesitation in her playing as her fingers danced across the keys. But she suddenly stopped in the middle of the piece, sensing someone in the room beside her.

"How'd you find me?" Youngjae asked, not even bothering to turn around.

"A certain someone told me."

"Who? Himchan unnie?"

Sitting down beside her, Daehyun delicately touched the keys of the piano. "Yeah. She said to not let anyone see me when I walked here."

Youngjae let out a smile laugh when he said he walked here. "Are you sure you didn't ran here? I could hear you panting as you walked up the stairs." Youngjae said, almost in a way of teasing the boy next to her.

"I got caught, eh?"

Youngjae smiled and shook her head, resting her hands in her lap. Daehyun looked at her and frowned when he saw the expression on her face.

"That piece was made by my mother when she was young. She taught me how to play piano since I was four. Whenever I finished practicing, my mother would always play the piece that I played early. 'First Snow', I think that's what she called it. I memorised it with my heart. But she passed away when I was six and ever since then, I haven't touched this piano because it reminds me of her way too much." Youngjae said, looking down at her hands.

"She must be a beautiful lady." Daehyun replied, trying to cheer her up and he saw the corners of Youngjae's mouth twitch, fighting the smile that wants to make its way on her face.

"She is. The most beautiful lady I've ever met."

"That must be why you're so beautiful." Daehyun smiled and Youngjae looked towards him.

"Are you trying to flirt with me, Mr. Jung?"

"Maybe. Is it working?" Daehyun asked and the laugh couldn't help but escape from Youngjae's mouth, which Daehyun has finally decided he would do anything just so Youngjae can laugh because her laughter sounded like music in Daehyun's ear.

"Would you like to play a duet with me, Mr. Jung?" Youngjae asked, placing her fingers on the keys.

"I can't play." Daehyun declined but Youngjae started playing anyway. "Chopsticks? Really?" Daehyun laughed and Youngjae lightly kicked him under the piano. He rolled his eyes but joined in shortly when the second person's part came up.

Feeling a bit playful today, Youngjae sped up the speed and added more fancy things in her part, almost as a challenge towards Daehyun. Getting her message, Daehyun also spiced up his part and the two started to have a competition between each other. What started as Chopsticks turned into a mash of different classic musics that the two turned into a duet and ended their duet with Chopsticks once again. As soon as the music stopped, Youngjae turned and glared at the guy sitting next to her.

"And I thought you said you can't play."

"I may or may not have taken lessons when I was younger." Daehyun replied, scratching the back of his head as he smiled sheeplishly.

"And I bet you know how to play guitar, too." Youngjae said sarcastically and Daehyun laughed.

"I actually do. I also know how to sing." Daehyun replied and the last statement caught Youngjae's attention.

"A bodyguard knows how to sing, eh? Now I want to listen."

"Sure. I'm borrowing your piano then."

Youngjae stood up and settled herself in the couch that she kept up in this room. Daehyun moved towards the middle of the piano and warmed up his voice with the piano. Feeling satisfied, he thought about a song to sing and smiled when the perfect song popped into his mind.

(Play here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pz4M44-ee4)

I didn’t know the reason why I changed
I thought about it for a long time
After I met you, I think I changed – a lot
As I hear this song.

Youngjae wanted to laugh at how cheesy the song he chose to sing is but she couldn't. His voice sounded like honey in her ears and the feeling behind his voice is so strong, Youngjae couldn't help but stare at the guy.

I’m so thankful for you oh baby
You are so pretty
I can’t take my eyes off of you
In my eyes, I only see you
I only want to look at you
Really, oh baby

Daehyun looked up and caught Youngjae's eyes for a brief moment before starting the next verse. Youngjae felt her heart beat speeding up when her eyes met with Daehyun's and had a funny feeling in her stomach.

A day passes and we meet again
Then we separate and then we meet again
It’s so good – I just laugh for no reason
Can you see me like this?

I’m so thankful for you oh baby
You are so pretty
I can’t take my eyes off of you
In my eyes, I only see you
I only want to look at you
Really

My each and every day is so happy oh baby
I hope days like this will never end
I hope nothing changes

I’m so thankful for you oh baby
You are so pretty
I can’t take my eyes off of you
In my eyes, I only see you
I only want to look at you
Really, oh baby

The piano slowly stopped and Daehyun slowly opened his eyes again, looking right into Youngjae's eyes. She got the feeling in her stomach again and her heart beat sped up again. She opened in attempt to say something, but found her felt lost of words. Opening and closing , again and again, Youngjae was almost convinced that she is slowly creeping her bodyguard out.

"That... That was, amazing." Youngjae complimented as soon as she found her voice again.

"Thanks. I haven't sang in a long time so I was surprised that you didn't say I sounded like a screetching car, trying to go down the street." Daehyun said, closing the fall board and the lid of the piano, pulling the white sheet over the piano to prevent it dusting up.

"No. Your boss's wife sounds like a screetching car. Especially when she's mad. She sounds like twenty screetching cars going down the road when she's mad. I'm surprised Youngjae oppa isn't deaf considering the fact that she's his mother." Youngjae said, swinging her legs in the air like a child.

Daehyun laughed, but couldn't agree more with Youngjae. "Do you know why the maids have been cleaning the ball room since this morning?"

"The ball room?"

"Yeah. And the butlers have been talking about a party ever since I got here. Even the guards are talking about it." Daehyun replied, sitting on the window seat Youngjae put in as her little reading nook.

"Well, I'm guessing my father is hosting a party then." Youngjae shrugged, but the more she thought about it, the more it's bothering her. "Let's go, Dae."

Night came faster than Youngjae would like it to and she is definitely not happy. She was enjoying the quietness in her room when her step brother suddenly barged in.

"Have you ever heard of kno- Why are you back home, oppa? And in such a fancy suit?" Youngjae asked, setting her book down next to her on her bed.

"Don't ask. Put this on and come to my room." He replied, giving Youngjae a black garment bag that she knows very well, it has a dress inside.

Without waiting for her to say anything, Youngjae walked out of her room and headed back to his. Staring at the bag that's in her arms, Youngjae decided to put it on, knowing that staring that the bag wouldn't help. Opening the bag, Youngjae took out a tight white, short sleeves, lacey dress that reaches down to her mid thighs. Changing out of her sweats and into the dress her brother gave her, Youngjae was taken aback by how perfectly the dress fit her.

"I think this is my new favorite dress." Youngjae smiled as she said it to no one in particular.

Walking into her closet, she started looking for accessories to go with the dress. Since the dress has an illusion type of neckline, Youngjae decided to just go with straight diamond dangle earrings, a small bracelet, and a simple ring. As for her make up, she went neutral but still noticable. Looking around for shoes, she couldn't find any that can go with the dress, so she left to go find Youngjae without shoes on.

Kocking on the door twice, Youngjae waited for her brother's soft voice to tell her to come in. When she walked in, Youngjae was surprised on how messy and dark the room is. The only light sources she can make out in the room is the moonlight and a lamp that was knocked down. The curtains was torn down and lying near the window, vases were crashed and glass pieces scattered all around the room, and things that belong on Youngjae's table are all scattered around the room. Walking in, Youngjae closed the door and stood at the door way, looking for her brother. When she did, she found him sitting on the edge of his bed with his head in his hands.

"Oppa. What's wrong? Did something happen?" Youngjae asked, taking a step forward but stopped when she saw a broken piece of glass right where she was about to step.

"I can't say, Jaejae. I'm sorry." The tone of his voice is more than enough for Youngjae to know not to ask him anymore.

"Okay. Why's your room trashed up?" She noticed her brother's slipper next to her and wore it before crossing the room to her brother.

"I was frustrated so I trashed it. I'm not gonna be coming back anyway."

"You know that's not gonna fix anything, right?" Youngjae asked, crouching down in front of her brother.

"I know." Youngjae replied, taking his sister's tiny hands into his own and held it as a source of comfort.

"What's the party tonight for, oppa? You can at least tell me that, right?" Youngjae asked, squeezing her brother's hand.

"It's for your engagement party."

The both of them looked towards the voice that suddenly joined the room. Their mother stood in the doorway, arms crossed in front of her, and her signarture evil smile on her face that makes both Youngjae's want to smack it off her face. Youngjae stood up from his bed and pulled his sister behind him, sending daggers from his eyes towards his mother.

"Ever heard of knocking, mother? And I'm pretty sure this conversation doesn't envolve you and your comment. Good thing you're standing at the door, too. Get the hell out of my room." Youngjae said and the other two was surprised at his words. The usually bright and heartwarming Youngjae is now crashing. "Nice people also has their limits. You, mother, just happen to pushed my button at the wrong time."

"Fine. I'll leave. But remeber to bring your sister to the ball room for her engagement party in an hour. Hyejung is in your room already to fix your hair, Youngjae. See you two in an hour." Their stepmother said before leaving, closing the door behind her.

Youngjae let out a breath she didn't know she was holding and sat on her brother's bed. He noticed and turned around to face her.

"I- Is that true? Tonight is my engagement party?" Youngjae asked, looking at her brother.

He didn't say anything but nod. He look just as torn as his sister and he's not even the main character for today. "It's all my fault. If I hadn't chose to become a doctor, you wouldn't have to deal with this."

"No, oppa. We just happen to have the worst parents ever. Nothing is your fault." They both let out a small chuckel and Youngjae noticed that she's wearing his slippers.

"Why are you in my slippers?" Youngjae laughed, pointing at his slippers that on his sister's feet.

"Because I don't have any pair of heels that go with this dress." Youngjae said, gently kicking his leg but happy that he's finally back to his happy personality.

"Wait here." He told her before walking off, heading towards his closet.

Knowing exactly what he is looking for, he took less than 30 seconds to find it and headed back to Youngjae. "This came with the dress when I went to pick it up. The store lady said that it's for free since she knows you." He said, handing Youngjae a box.

"Yeah. I buy a lot of clothes from her store. I went last week to buy more stuff from that store." Youngjae said, opening the box.

Taking out a pair of lacey white plateform pump heels, Youngjae smiled at how beautiful it is. But the smile dropped the second it formed on Youngjae's face because of her brother. "For who? Your amazingly hot bodyguard?"

"Wha- I don't know what you're talking about, oppa." Youngjae denied and turned her face away from her brother.

"Don't lie to me, baby sis. The lady that helped me today said something that was very surprising." He smirked while watching his sister put on her heels.

"What?"

"She said, 'oh. It's a different guy today.' I asked her what she meant by that and she said 'oh, you know. The guy that came in with Youngjae last week. He's tall and good looking. Very adorable, too. I thought he was her boyfriend cuz Youngjae bought him quite some clothes.'"

"This lady... I need to tape up some day."

"Care to explain who this 'tall, good looking, and adorable' man is?" Youngjae asked even thought he knows that answer already.

"Fine! Fine! It's Daehyun! Geesh. I bought him a couple shirts and jeans. Happy now?" Youngjae asked and stormed out of her brother's room without waiting for him to reply. As she stormed out of his room, she got even more frustrated when she heard her brother's laughter.

Opening the door to her room, she spotted whom she's guessing is Hyejung and got even more frustated. "Get the hell out of my room in this instant or else I'll make your life even more misable than it already is. I don't need your help."

The girl squealed in fear and nodded before running out of Youngjae's room. Slamming her door the second the maid ran out, Youngjae let out a scream of frustration and took a deep breath before heading to her bathroom to do her hair. Lightly curlying her hair, she pulled it back into a loose braid and used some pearl hair pins to make her braid look more stylish. Making sure she look presentable, Youngjae let out a sigh and then left the room.

Meeting up with her brother, they both headed down the stairs. At the bottom of the stairs stood her bodyguard. But instead of the usual brunette she is so use to seeing, the Daehyun right now has short black hair and brushed to the side. And most of all, he's in all black. Black dress shirt, black suits with the vest, black tie, and polished black dress shoes. Feeling a nudge beside her, she turned and casted a glare towards her brother who just brushed it away with a casual smile. Beside Daehyun stood JB and it was Youngjae's turn to nudge her brother. He rolled his eyes and walked off, taking JB with him as he made his way to the ball room. Youngjae, on the other hand, stood quietly as she looks at anywhere but her bodyguard. There was a weird tension among the two of them and Youngjae can't decipher what it is because this has never happened to them.

Saying nothing at all, Youngjae walked towards the ball room with Daehyun right beside her with his hand on the small of her back. The usually warm hand felt cold to Youngjae today but she shook it off.

"I heard about what the party is for." Daehyun said, loud enough for just Youngjae to hear.

"I didn't know until just an hour ago." Youngjae said, eyes straight ahead.

"Really? You're the one getting engaged but you didn't know until an hour ago? That's new." Daehyun said but voice very sarcastic and Youngjae noticed it, causing her to stop walking.

"What's wrong with you today, Dae?"

"Nothing, Jae."

"Really, Hyunnie? Cuz you acting cold towards me out of the blue is seriously nothing." Youngjae said, rolling her eyes at the end.

"Just drop it, Jae. You have an engagement party to show up for."

"I don't even know who I'm getting engaged to. Nor did I even know of this party until today. If anything, I should be the one pissed off, not you. So either you tell me what the hell is wrong with you or we can both be piss at each other for god knows why. Two can play this game, Jung Daehyun."

"I said it's nothing, Youngjae!" Daehyun snapped and Youngjae jumped at his voice. Seeing that, Daehyun sighed and gestured towards the ball room. "Let's go."

Youngjae collected herself and walked pass her bodyguard, and the once tense atmosphere turned into a cold war.

It's the nth time Youngjae heard people congradulating her on her engagement to whoever she is getting engaged to. Knowing that her parents are behind this, her mood only got pissed off even more. And not to include what happened on her way to the party. It doesn't take a genius to know that Youngjae's not in a good mood but the people that is invited to the party are apparently the dumbest and most clueless people Youngjae has ever met.

"Escuse me, everyone. May I have your attention, please? Due to some unforeseen situations, the groom-to-be would not be here for the party. But please join me on congradulating my daughter, Yoo Youngjae, and my soon-to-be son in law, Lee Jaehwan, on their engagement." Youngjae's father said into the microphone and Youngjae felt like her eyes are going to pop out of her sockets.

Lee Jaehwan? As in Ken?! I can't get married to the son of Lee enterprise. He's not even interested in women.

She wants nothing but to go back to her room and hide away in her hidden room. But too bad that she is under watch by her father's men. They're in a different team than Daehyun and she trust no one but him and his team. And it's also too bad that Daehyun is the last person she wants to see by the end of this day. Leaning back against a pillar, Youngjae drowned her glass of champagne in seconds. She's lost count of how many glass she drank after her father's announcement, but Youngjae knows she's definitely getting a bit tipsy.

"Seems like you're enjoying the party tonight."

"Get lost, Kai. The last time I checked, you weren't on the guest list. And believe me, I checked." Grabbing a glass of wine as one of the waiters walks by her.

"Awe. Don't be like that, baby cousin. I just came to see who you're married off to so I can know who I have to beat to get the company. Seems like I don't have to do much work to beat that little player, huh?"

"I SAID GET LOST, KIM JONGIN!" Youngjae yelled and caught the attention of the guests around her.  She growled in annoyance and walked off towards the garden, only to be blocked by her father's men.

"I'm sorry, miss, but we are under strict orders from Master Yoo that you are not allowed to leave."

"Well, tell old man that I'm not in the mood." Youngjae said and took a step forward, only to cause the two bulky men to take a step fowards too.

"We can't let you do that, miss." The other man said, arms stretched out to prevent her from leaving.

"Take a step forward again and I swear on my family name that I will make you face your own grave tonight. And I will do it." Youngjae threatened and it seem to have worked, for she is now outside, away from loud music and people enjoying themselves at a party that shouldn't have existed in the first place.

Walking towards the one spot that she knows would definitely calm her mind, Youngjae started to walk a little bit more slower. Bringing her glass to her lips, she took a sip and smiled at the bittersweet the wine tasted in . Taking off her heels, she held it in her other hand as she begin to walk in the grass. Looking up, she spotted where she wanted to go and ran there. Sitting down on the grass, Youngjae set the empty wine glass and her shoes beside her and looked out towards the lake that's just in the middle of her backyard. Watching as the water rippel, her mind started to go through everything that happened today. From what happened this morning, to seeing her brother's sudden personality change, to what happened between her and her bodyguard, and then finally, to her engagement party that she didn't know about till an hour before the party.

Everything was so off from what Youngjae is use to seeing, and the sudden engagement seems off to Youngjae. But with a father like Youngjae's, all she can do is pray to the God above and hope for a miracle.

Hello, beautiful readers. Thank to for those 29 accounts that subscribe to this story of mine. You guys are crazy, but seriously, it's because of you guys that gave me the motivation to continue on writing. Is this story even good? What I write down makes sense to me but I don't know how it might be for your guys. But anyways, I have a serious question. Should I make Youngjae realise her feelings in the next chapter and make Daehyun confess to Youngjae in chapter 5? Or is that too fast?

Comment down below and I will write the next chapter base on what you guys comment. You guys are the ones reading this, not me so it should be what you guys want to read, not what I want to read.

Uh... Oh and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!! (even though I'm about three days late --", oops).

Christine
