And so the night ends

I don't want this night to end
"I don't know, I think I will just take the weekend to myself and relax."
"There's no way I will let you be alone in Chuseok. You are coming with me. That's it."
"Coming where? I thought you are not going to be in town."
"I won't. I am going to visit my family in Icheon and you are celebrating Chuseok with my family. It's a different lifestyle from your typical city life, it'd do you some good, since you are looking for a change of pace anyways."
"Okay fine you have me convinced, when are you going?"
"Thursday after work."
"Okay I will meet you at your place."
"You will love it there Fany-ah."
"I have never been in the country side. Thanks for inviting me Sunny-ah!"
"You are welcome."
...................................................................

Tiffany woke up when the sun just kept getting brighter and it got harder to ignore the rays of sunshine falling on her face. 'Whatever happened to the curtains.'
She sat up groggily and realized that she was in Sunny's family home in Icheon. Her eyes went on the beautiful scenery of endless farm lands. 'How do they wake up so early?'
Her eyes fell on this small figure, perspiration dripping down her forehead over her pale skin. Her short blonde hair stands out among the others in the farm.
Sunny came in  found her friend looking out in the distance. It was a bright day outside the farmers and such were all outside reaping the harvest, that this time of the year results in.
Sunny stood behind her friend who was so engrossed in the scenery outside and saw what or rather who she was looking at.

"What are you looking at Fany-ah?"

Tiffany gasped in surprised not realizing that her friend was right behind her.

"Nothing just looking at the farmers working on the field. Look at that girl! The rice bag-I mean I am assuming it's rice since you said they grow paddy in these fields, she is carrying is almost twice as heavy as her."

Sunny squinted to really take a look at the very familiar figure that Tiffany was pointing at.

"Is that shorty really here and she didn't tell me?"
"You know her?"
"We practically grew up together. She is my neighbor."
"Oh-"
"YAH SHORTY!"

Tiffany grimaced at the loud voice hollering at her childhood friend.

"Can you at least warn me before yelling at people like that?"

"Sorry" Sunny said in her normal voice. "I was trying to her attention."
And indeed she got the attention of all the passerbys and people working in the farm including the blonde girl, who bowed to the people around her, probably apologizing for her friend's behavior.

Tiffany saw the blonde girl squinting in their direction, 'her concentrated face is so cute. Kinda like a kid.'

Tiffany looked on as the most beautiful smile broke into the face of the strong kid-like farmer girl, and Tiffany found her breath getting knocked out of her at the sight.

"Sonkyu? Is that you?" Tiffany heard the distant voice.
"How come she gets to call you Sonkyu, Sonkyu?" Tiffany friend.
"Shut up. It's Sunny."
"Sure."
........................................

Tiffany has been tagging along with the two childhood friends walking around the harvest festival and catching up, it ended up being Sunny talking most of the time since her childhood friend was definitely the quiet type.

Tiffany learned that the blonde farmer girl's name is Kim Taeyeon, it sounded oddly familiar to her, but she brushed it off, since names along the lines of Tae Yeon are all over Seoul or South Korea for that matter.

Apart from being uncharacteristically strong for her small stature, Kim Taeyeon was really good at archery, she won Sunny an ugly stuffed frog, which Sunny complained about the whole time, and Tiffany a small Totoro stuff toy.

As the day progressed she also learned that the blonde girl had the voice of an angel.
'You are just full of surprises aren't ya? You could easily be an idol, instead of singing in small town festivals.'

"I gotta go take care of something. But you two should come to the party later tonight."
"At the usual place?" Sunny asked and Taeyeon nodded in affirmation.
"Will you be there?" this time the question was directed toward Tiffany.
For the moment Tiffany's breath hitched when she stared deep into the onyx eyes, she found herself getting lost in the stare.
"Yeah she will be there, don't worry Taeng."
Sunny's voice broke Tiffany out of her trance.
"Ye-yes I'll be there." Tiffany tried to sound cool and unaffected.

Just when she thought she recovered, she saw that blindingly beautiful smile break into the kid-like face of the farmer girl and she couldn't stop herself from smiling as well, which Tiffany attributed to the reasoning, 'her smile is contagious'.
...........................................

Taeyeon couldn't believe it when the pretty girl with the most gorgeous eye smile slid up on the dusty seat of her pick-up truck when she asked her if she wanted to take a tour around town with Taeyeon.

'I know I don't know you, but your pretty eyes are pulling me in as you shine brightly with the moonlight bouncing off your skin and stars in your eyes.'

Taeyeon set the truck on cruise control and stared at the girl who was singing along to all the songs on the late night radio throwing her hand up and out the sunroof. Taeyeon noticed that Korean-American girl was trying to shakily balance herself up but failing.

"Here, I will support your legs, so you don't lose balance. Lemme open the sun roof for you." with that Taeyeon s her arm around the other girl as she stood on the passenger seat, her torso above the car roof, arms thrown up in the air, music turned up, the moonlight shining brightly down at the moving vehicle.

"WOOOOO" Taeyeon smiled hearing the other girl.

At that moment, Taeyeon did not want the night to end.

Tiffany squealed when she felt the truck getting off the main road and onto what seemed like a makeshift road through the field, she bend down and put her hands on Taeyeon's shoulders to balance herself to sit back down on the passenger seat.

"Where are we going?"

Taeyeon didn't take her eyes off the road and answered nonchalantly, "You'll see." then in an afterthought. "Do you mind getting wet?"

Tiffany stared at the concentrated look on Taeyeon's face as she looked ahead in the bumpy road, 'Not if you are the one causing it.' Then she shook her head at the erted thought and answered, "No not really."

Taeyeon noticed the hesitation and thought that the girl probably needed some reassurance.

"I have a few of my shirts and shorts in the back. I might even have a couple of towels there, so you'll have dry clothes no worries."

'That's the least of my worries.' Tiffany thought to herself and smiled at the good natured girl beside her.

When Taeyeon asked her to take a ride with her around town, Tiffany thought it was an invitation to end up in bed or in the bed of the truck, she thought it'd be fun to have the strong arms of this farm girl around her and all over her all night. But it turned out that the girl actually wanted to show her around, and Tiffany was surprised at how much fun she was having. Taeyeon was like a breath of fresh air. Tiffany never met someone who offered to show her around without the ulterior motive of ending up in bed with her.

Tiffany was pulled out of her thoughts when the truck came to a stop, the smile never left her face.

'What I would do to make that smile land on my lips.'  Taeyeon thought taking a quick glance at her partner in crime, and jumped off the vehicle, going around to the passenger side to help Tiffany down.

Her truck was quite high, especially after the recently lift her brother got on the truck and the city girl was previously struggling a bit with the height.

When Tiffany saw the girl offering her a hand her heart melted a little. She jumped down with the help of the blonde girl and couldn't help but plant a soft kiss on the cheek that immediately turned into a lush shade of pink, which didn't get unnoticed by Tiffany.

'I need to stop blushing, she'll notice especially with the bright moon shining down on us.'

In an attempt to hide her blushing cheeks, Taeyeon took the hand that was already in hers and tugged her to the lake in front of them. Tiffany thought that they'd just sit at the edge of the pier, that's why she was surprised when the farm girl kept tugging her hand with no intention of stopping even at the edge of the pier.

She squealed and held tight into the arms around her when she felt them falling off the edge of the pier and into the lake causing a small turbulence in the calm waters, making the nature feel their presence in the depths of the night.

Tiffany was having fun splashing Taeyeon which tried to retaliate but wasn't exactly succeeding. Suddenly Tiffany yelped when she realized they were just splashing around in the wilderness and there could be wild creatures and bugs.

"Aren't there like snakes and stuff in here?"  Tiffany asked as she stopped splashing trying to get near Taeyeon in case some creature comes to attack.

"Oh here? No. this part of the lake is actually private. It's owned by Shin ajhusshi. There are some fishes around, but nothing too wild. We used to do this back in high school and then get chased by Shin ajhusshi. Speaking of which here he comes."

"When are ya kids gonna learn! I will complain to the school-" Tiffany heard a loud cranky voice of an older man from the pier and heard Taeyeon whisper.

"Run. I mean swim to the car."

They swam with all their might as they heard the older man yelling and banging this cane against the pier and threatening to call the school and principal.
Tiffany and Taeyeon dashed to the car hand in hand.

"You can change inside the car, I will keep an eye out for anyone. I doubt anyone will be around at this hour."

Taeyeon said looking at the clock on the dash. 3:35AM.
'And you'll leave in the morning. Let's make the most out of every mile.'
Taeyeon thought as she jumped off the truck to wait outside.

Tiffany wore the flannel plaid which smelled like fresh detergent with the distinct, lingering scent of the farm girl, who was standing right outside, waiting outside still wet, since she wanted Tiffany to change first not wanting her to catch a cold or anything, without realizing that her considerate gestures were making Tiffany's heart swell without warning.

"I am done. Your turn shorty." Tiffany , after hearing the nickname from Sunny.
"What!! I am not that short. I am average height, for your information." Taeyeon defended her height, or the lack thereof.
'Well, from where I am from, they call girlfriends shorty'. Tiffany thought, while missing whatever Taeyeon was saying.
"What did you say?"
"I said no peeking."
"I didn't know you were so shy."
"I am not shy I am just not an exhibitionist."
"Fine whatever. I won't look. Go change before you catch a cold."
"I never get sick."
When Taeyeon saw Tiffany opening to counter her statement she quickly said, "But I am going to change now."

Tiffany took a last look at the retreating back, the wet clothes stuck flush to her skin in all the right places. Tiffany shook her head to void her head of erted thoughts about a wet, hot Taeyeon.
Tiffany couldn't help herself from staring at the girl on the driver seat.
'Damn she looks hot with wet hair.'
Tiffany thought, zoning out.

"So you ready to meet my sweetheart? I think she'll be awake when we get there."

The last word got her attention.
"Sweetheart?"
'THis late at night, or morning rather?'
"Yea my childhood sweetheart. We grew up together." Taeyeon said, with an affectionate smile on her face.

'Who ever asks a girl to hang out and then takes her to meet the "sweetheart" at 4 in the morning.'

She was turned toward Taeyeon in confusion when the car stopped in front of what looked like a barn.

She saw the hand offered to her but she didn't want to take it. 'Not when you have a girlfriend. How dare you have a girlfriend but string along a girl all night like this?!?!'

Tiffany jumped off unassisted and ended up stumbling a bit, not for long because a strong hand steadied her immediately.
Tiffany looked at her and squatted her hand and walked in front of her.
Taeyeon furrowed at eyebrows at the sudden change of attitude from the other girl, but shrugged off.

Tiffany flinched at the pungent smell when Taeyeon opened the barn door.

'How can someone live in here? At least I smell better than Taeyeon's "sweetheart"'.

When Taeyeon the lights of the barn and walked upto a cow and started petting it.
"Chloe? Sweetheart look you have a visitor."

Tiffany's eye bulged out of its' sockets, this cow is sweetheart. This cow is Taeyeon's childhood sweetheart. Nothing, just casual. Everyone has a childhood sweetheart who is a cow. No big deal.

"This-This cow is your sweetheart?" Tiffany had to ask.

"yes! I remember when she was born, I was eight. I was working the barn that day, I was soo excited."

The odd feeling that was pooling in her stomach previously when she first heard Taeyeon mention her 'sweetheart' suddenly disappeared, instead it was replaced by this warm feeling all over, just watching the twinkle in Taeyeon's eyes, talking about Chloe and how she used to play with her.

"Come I will show you the other side of the barn that doesn't smell." Taeyeon said with the laugh, when she realized that the girl she was rambling to has been staring at her with a dazed look, probably bored from all the cow talk.

Tiffany followed the tug on her hand and was brought to this big room with high ceiling with stacks and stacks of hay.
"It smells sweet."
"Yea, it's just corn and the hay. Hang on, lemme check for something." With that Taeyeon went into the corner end looking for something in the ground.
"What are you looking for?"
She saw Taeyeon stand back up with a jar of liquid in her hand. "This. Distilled alcohol, home made. I am guessing the boys made it. Let me taste it."
Tiffany watched the girl take a swig and scrunch her face. "Damn this is good stuff. Taste it." Taeyeon handed her the jar.
Tiffany took a small sip not anticipating the intense burn down , she has never had anything this strong before, and she was known to be good at holding her liquor.
She took another swig.
"Oh wow you are good. I didn't expect a city girl to be able to drink this." Taeyeon beamed, she seemed genuinely impressed.
"Well don't underestimate me, Ms. Tough Farm Girl."
"Sorry my bad."
"What can i say, I am full of surprises."
Taeyeon smiled teasingly. "Sure are. Now give it back before it becomes apparent that half of it is gone."
Tiffany turned away from Taeyeon the jar in hand, not wanting to give it back yet. She ran away trying to avoid the girl who is reaching for the jar.
Taeyeon grabed Tiffany from the back and lifted her up, making the girl squeal and flail her limbs in and attempt to free herself, but ended up backfiring, since Taeyeon lost her footing and they both fell into the hay stacks. Tiffany turned around in Taeyeon's arms, now facing the farm girl, the jar of liquor long forgotten.
Tiffany found herself getting lost in the pool of onyx intensity that were Taeyeon's eyes. Suddenly there was a glint in Taeyeon's eyes, as she rolled them over so she was on top of Tiffany and smirked.
"You know this could be considered rolling in the hay."
"Well we just literally rolled in the hay so I guess yes." Tiffany said not understanding why Taeyeon was smirking at the idea of rolling in the hay.
"You know what they say about rolling in the hay."
"What do they say?"
"Sorry can't say. You gotta look it up yourself or ask Sunny." Taeyeon said, the playful glint evident in her eyes.
"Why can't you tell me?"
"I don't kiss and tell."
"We didn't kiss so you can tell." Tiffany said, gulping when Taeyeon leaned toward her at the comment. She closed her eyes anticipating the kiss to come but opened her eyes, when she felt a peck on her cheek.
"Welp, I just kissed you so now I can't tell. Come on up here, we can sit here and catch the sun rise."
Tiffany didn't know why she was blushing from a simple cheek kiss. She kisses her friends on the cheek, it shouldn't have this effect on her. But with Taeyeon it was different. Because Taeyeon was different.

"I don't even know where you're from."
"Do you need to?"  'I don't know it myself...'
"I just want to get to know you...maybe you could come to one of my performances. I could leave a ticket for you." The shy request from Taeyeon to come watch her perform and getting to know her melted Tiffany's heart.

'You are definitely a special one Kim Taeyeon. But I don't know if I deserve you. I have always been so flighty, always waiting around for the next good thing. No one ever made me feel this way like you did in these few hours.'

"Okay you should do that..leave a ticket."
"Where you from?"
'Her name sounds American, but she is definitely Korean.'

"Where I am from doesn't necessarily mean that's where I'll be." 'I am supposed to go back to the States next week, but now I don't know if I even want to go back.'

"tch. Alright, well where will you be?" 'Maybe in your arms, someday.'

"I don't know...but I am here now." 'in your arms.'

Taeyeon just nodded and held the girl in her arms savoring the moment before she had to drive back the girl.

Tiffany was enjoying the quiet moment, until she opened her eyes, realizing that she fell asleep and the girl holding her was still asleep. She traces the veins on the hands that were around her still holding her as she leaned more into Taeyeon's embrace if that was even possible.
'I hope I see you again.'
..................

"Taeyeon unnie that song sounds amazing." Taeyeon looked up at her close friend and manager, Joohyun and smiled.
Joohyun noticed the slight melancholy in her unnie's smile, "You alright unnie?"
"Yeah I am just pumped for this tour. Hope it does well."
"I know it will. Your single for this one is already a hit."
"Hey I need you to do something for me."
"Anything for you unnie."
"I need you to leave a ticket for somebody."
Joohyun smiled slightly at the request but didn't question any further.
