In a future where modern medical technology has advanced beyond compare, scientists think they have discovered a cure for cancer. Untested on humans and unapproved by the government it is illegal and fatal if failed but Hakyeon is dying and he is forced to take the 'cure' for a chance to live. 

With luck on his side he survives but Hakyeon knows he cannot cheat death and when he meets a young girl his age at the hospital, he falls in love and is determined to live because he has found his purpose in life.

Hyebin had forgotten what it was like to live the life of a teenager. To experience youth. To fall in love. Until she met a stranger underneath the old tree.

She stood there at the entrance to the small park by the hospital, her hands tucked in her white lab coat to fight of the slight chills of the approaching winter, staring at the silhouette of a familiar tanned male who sat on the bench by the huge tree that was rumoured to have been almost a hundred years old. Its green leaves now in shades of orange, brown and yellow. The male seemed to be watching the leaves slowly fall to the ground as the slight breeze sang its lullaby. She walked closer, her steps silent as she didn’t want to startle the male.

“You lied to me.About who you were.” She spoke, the sound of her voice made the male move from his position, turning his head towards her as he smiled sweetly.

“I didn’t want you to treat me like how everyone else does.” He replied, his voice light and airy like the autumn breeze.

“What makes you think I’m like them?”

“Nothing. It’s just - Everyone has been treating me like I’m different since I was a kid. Like I was this important person that everyone wants to please so they benefit from me. Like a pawn. Used then thrown away.”

She walked towards him, sitting on the empty spot beside him as she stared at his beautiful face. The tanned skin she loved, those beautiful dark brown eyes, she could never get enough of it.

“I would never use you Hakyeon. But that doesn’t mean it was ok for you to lie about your entire life to me.”

“Can we start over then?”

She gave him a smile that made her eyes disappear into crescents.

“Hi, I’m Lee Hyebin, first year cardiac surgeon in Seoul National Hospital.”

“Hi, I’m Cha Hakyeon, Assistant Director of Cha Holdings.”
