Facts #24 - #26
40 Facts About Ryeowook24. Once, he tried to cook with Kyuhyun and ended up doing all the cooking while Kyuhyun stood next to him.
Kyuhyun watched carefully as Ahra took a bite of the kimchi fried rice he'd made.
“So,” Kyuhyun asked, “what do you think?”
"Well..." His sister put on a thoughtful expression. “You know that one time you tried to cook with Ryeowook, and in the end, all you did was stand on the side and fetch him ingredients, so I made fun of you for not helping?”
“Yeah…”
“I take it back.”
25. This baby picture of him exists.
“Oh my god, look at this one! You look like a giant marshmallow!” Kyuhyun said.
Ryeowook pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed as Kyuhyun fell over laughing at his childhood photos.
“You--you even have the black shoes and hair; you’re like a burning marshmallow!” Kyuhyun stuck out his hand like baby Ryeowook in the photo. ‘“Help me…’” he crooned in a baby voice.
“Shut up!” Ryeowook snatched the photo back. “I didn’t show you these albums just so you could laugh at me. And FYI, I look adorable in this picture.”
“I know, I know.” Kyuhyun chuckled and draped an arm around Ryeowook’s shoulder. “You know I have to make fun of cute things. It’s a survival instinct.”
“That doesn’t even make sense.”
“Not to you because you’re a cute thing.”
“Why does you saying that make me hate you?”
26. He’s a realistic person, so things like “Forever” don’t exist for him.
That’s okay though…
“You’ve been acting weird all night.”
Kyuhyun ignored the statement. He simply poured some hot tea into a cup and seated himself at the table, sipping at it while staring at the table.
“Oh come on.” Ryeowook reached out a hand towards him. “Kyu…”
“You said, ‘Be realistic,’” Kyuhyun said, scowling at the woodgrain.
“What?”
“You said, ‘Be realistic,’” Kyuhyun repeated. “Your dad said ‘You two will be together forever!’ and you told him, ‘Be realistic.’”
The sharpness of his words stabbed at silent space.
“Kyu—”
“Be realistic: what the hell is that supposed to mean? Does it mean you think us staying together forever isn’t realistic?” Kyuhyun slammed the cup down on the table hard enough for some to spill over.
Ryeowook sighed beside him and pulled out a seat. “Kyu, we’re not even going to live forever; how would we stay together forever?”
Kyuhyun paused. He opened and closed his mouth a few times. Finally, he said, “You don’t know that.”
Ryeowook chuckled.
“No, seriously. What if we get, like, turned into vampires tomorrow and become immortal until the end of time? Or we find the fountain of youth? Or end up in the same afterlife?” He peeked up at Ryeowook. “Would we stay together forever then?”
Ryeowook smiled, a tint of understanding coming to his eyes. “Well, first off I think we’re a little past the boundaries of realistic here, but if you must know…I don’t know. I don’t like to think that us lasting forever, whether literally or spiritually or respectively, is just going to happen, like some magic spell. I think we don’t know what’s coming or how our love or lives will change in the future, and sometimes we're going to have to work hard at our relationship. I think, in that case, it’s better to be realistic.”
Kyuhyun’s gaze fell back onto the woodgrain. “Oh.”
“I do want us to last forever though.”
“You say that now. But you might not think that way forever.”
“Or…maybe I will think that way forever. I certainly have no intentions of giving it up,” Ryeowook said after a moment’s hesitation. “But isn’t it something that I mean it now?”
The tea was really hot. It kind of burned his hands.
Ryeowook’s fingers grazed his, softly at first, and then gently prying his hand away from the cup. They sat in quiet, fingers lightly intertwined.
Ryeowook’s father yelled something from the living room.
“We should head back in,” Ryeowook said. “Dad’s going to get all anxious otherwise.”
He stood up only to feel the grip on his hand tighten. Ryeowook turned back, brows furrowed.
“Yes.” Kyuhyun looked at him straight in the eye. “Yes, it does mean something, now and forever.”
The corners of Ryeowook’s mouth turned up, and he pulled his boyfriend up and into the living room for the rest of family game night.
