Kyungsoo was anxious as his carriage stopped in the palace courtyard. It had been almost a month since he left the palace. Saying goodbye to his family has been hard but he was ready to start his own little family now. He had missed the king and he could not wait to be in his arms again.

He was surprised when he did not see the alpha among the group that was waiting to welcome him. ‘The alpha must be busy’. He thought.

A servant opened the door of his carriage and he was welcomed by a nervous looking prince Junmyun who bowed slightly to him.

“Omega king.” The prince addressed him.

“Can I have a word with you please?” the prince asked as he offered him his arm. That left him with no room for objection even though he would not object anyways. He was led to a small room in the beta prince’s chambers.

“Please have a seat.”

“Is everything alright?”

“Yes and no. No one is hurt but I’m afraid I must give you bad news.”

“What is this about?” Kyungsoo could not believe his voice was shaking.

Prince Junmyun placed a comforting hand on his knee. “Jongin has had an accident during a training session. He fell from his horse. He is fine now but he doesn’t remember some of the recent events.”

“What?! How much… H-how much has he forgotten?”

“He doesn’t remember marrying you.”

Kyungsoo paled. It was not possible. It could not be happening to him.

“The last thing he remembers is…” The prince looked unsure but he composed himself soon. He took a deep breath.

“He remembers breaking up with his ex-lover and being pressured by his court to find an omega mate.”

Kyungsoo was staring at the lush Persian carpet on the floor. He was beyond shocked.

“Are you alright?” the prince asked.

He shook his head. He had to be alright. At least for his own sake.

“I… I will be. Where is he? Do you think he’d want to see me?”

“He knows about you. We have been telling him about you since this has happened but he has been reacting strongly against it.”

“Did… d-did he ask for the beta?”

Prince Junmyun looked confused for a few seconds before the realisation drowned on him.

“Oh. Well… yes, to be honest, he did but we didn’t send for him. It wouldn’t be appropriate. He had ended the things between them and from what I heard he is finally seeing someone. Besides, Jongin has a mate. Whether he likes it or not.”

Kyungsoo sighed. This would be hard. He could not possibly do this all over again with the alpha. An alpha who was heartbroken and reliving the heartache of separating from a long-term lover. It was not fair to him.

“What am I supposed to do now?”

“You should eat something and rest for tonight. As for tomorrow, I would appreciate your help in the court. He is not quite ready to take things in his hands as he doesn’t remember anything. And Kyungsoo… I’d stay out of his way for a while. He might say or do something that’ll upset you. I hope you can understand.”

“Okay.” Kyungsoo swallowed the lump in his throat. He was so nervous that he felt nauseous.

“How are you feeling? Any signs of pregnancy?”

“I’m alright albeit overwhelmed. I haven’t felt different I’m afraid, though it’s been just about seven weeks since my heat.”
