Chapter - 1

“ You are late by 10 minutes”, Park Chanyeol was greeted with the familiar sight and sound as soon as he entered his cabin. That of his Secretary giving last touches to organizing his table and gretting him with a Good Morning, and as always suffixing it with the reminder of how many minutes he was late to work.  Chanyeol didn’t mind it at all. This is how he liked his work environment to be. Efficient, professional, congenial, yet not so formal that it became stiff or suffocating. And the fact that this reminder was coming from Jongin made it all the more inoffensive. Chanyeol had taken over the Park Industries 5 years back at the young age of 23, and Jongin had been his Secretary since last 3 years. And he couldn’t have asked for a better Secretary.  Jongin was loyal, efficient, reliable, put up with his hectic schedule, last moment meetings and erratic work timings.  Last one was the most tiresome. While rest of the staff left by 7 or 8 PM at max, Jongin didn’t have that luxury. Park Chanyeol often worked late, even past midnight at times, and Jongin had to stay back.  And while Chanyeol did feel guilty for burdening Jongin like this, his presence was indispensable for Chanyeol  to function smoothly. Last night was again one of those nights where they worked very late and it was the reason for Chanyeol not being on time. But of course that was not the case with Jongin. And though punctuality is a trait that should be appreciated, Chanyeol couldn’t help but be a little frustrated at how Jongin always managed to be on time even though he stayed back as late as himself. How he would love to see Jongin get late to work, even if just once. But since there were slim chances of that happening anytime soon, Chanyeol put up his best smile and greeted Jongin as pleasantly as ever.

 Jongin took in the beautiful smile, warm eyes and deep voice, and wondered as always if it is possible to have a better start to the day. Even after all this time and practice Jongin couldn’t help but take a moment too long to admire Park Chanyeol, before snapping out of his reverie. There were many advantages of working with Park Chanyeol. He was pleasant, warm, treated his employees with respect, and appreciated their hard work. Yes the work was bound to be demanding in a big company like this and Chanyeol never compromised on quality, yet he was never unfair or unreasonable. He worked harder than anyone else, withstood intense pressure at times, chased deadlines and even then always managed to keep his patience and composure. Perhaps that is the reason why he was so successful and well respected at such an young age. Honestly Jongin couldn’t have asked for a better Boss. Yet there was one disadvantage of working with his all – too – perfect Boss. The fact that he had developed a tiny or not so tiny crush on his Boss. Jongin didn’t know when his feelings changed from respect to admiration to liking. He just knew that he was far too gone even before he realized. Not that he could do anything about it except praying that Chanyeol never realizes about his crush, and their easy working relationship is never ruined.  And its not just about Chanyeol. He loved the company as a whole, enjoyed working with his easy going and efficient colleagues, and while the work was challenging, even gruelling at times, it was also interesting and a great learning experience. Jongin had always been a little shy and therefore anxious as to how well he would cope in a big company. But fortunately he ended up in a place where not only was he acknowledged and appreciated, but also developed an easy camaraderie with his colleagues mostly thanks to their patience and friendly nature.  Nope he didn’t want to lose it all. Hoping for anything more than a professional relationship between himself and his Boss was not only pointless but also painful. So he refused to indulge his fantasy even in his imagination. That’s how he kept himself sane.

A/N : So there goes my first chapter. How is it? Too short, too much description? Too many grammatical errors? I basically wanted to give insight into how Chanyeol's and Jongin's relationship has been since past 3 years, so there was little action and more thought. Please feel free to give your honest comments and criticism. Really looking forward to that.
