Prologue
Beauty In The ShadowsTo Tao, the supernatural has always been a mere figment of his imagination, the part of him that tricked him into believing monsters lived underneath his bed or that there was a ghost in the linen closet three doors down the hall from his room at his parents' home. He remembers being told repeatedly that there would be no vampire or werewolf or ghoul or whatever there to attack him if he stayed out on the park swings a little too late at night. He's always been taught that they don't really exist.
But they do.
Never in his life has Tao imagined what it would be like to run with the creatures of the night, to see one, the be with one, to be one. He's always been taught that they never existed, yet here he is living the high life alongside his undead lover while associating with giant puppies.
Tao has always been taught that the supernatural simply can't and doesn't exist, that it's all a nightmare. If that's the case, then Tao wouldn't mind reliving this nightmare a thousand times over.
