"Okay, so there's this boy I like," Sehee starts. She is staring downwards onto her lap, possibly to admire her freshly manicured fingernails, but Kyungsoo knows better. Every time Sehee is nervous, fearing she might be making a mistake or messing up, that is when she would go silent and stare at her fingers as if they hold the solution to everything. They don't, but Kyungsoo does admit that Sehee's hands are pretty with long, slender digits, the skin as soft and pale as her overall complexion. He knows that, because he often cups her face, just like he is doing now.

"Sehee," he says and takes a deep breath. It's painful to talk about her crush, but by now it doesn't hurt as much. The pain has become dull as his hope has been shrinking - the hope to one day being noticed. He hates being stuck in the friend-zone, but it's better to stay friends with her than to leave her to fend on her own. Who else would be there to catch her when she falls? Who else would be there to give her the encouragement and support she needs? Who else would be there to selflessly give their all, even if Sehee doesn't give anything in return except for the sweetest of all smiles?

"You need to tell me more, otherwise I have no idea what your actual problem is. Is he already taken? Is it someone you should not be crushing on?" Kyungsoo asks, eyes darting down to see her nervously her lips. It's just another maddening habit of hers that turns him all sad and frustrated. It's like she's taunting him, showing what she has to offer, but at the same time telling him he will never get a taste. Because he's too coward to risk their friendship and ask her out. And even if he asks her out, chances are, he'll destroy what they have, so in the future he will never be able to be close to her again.

"It's difficult," Sehee finally speaks up and Kyungsoo looks back up for their eyes to meet. "Can you promise me no matter what happens, we'll still stay friends first before I tell you?"

"Of course," Kyungsoo is quick to reassure. Nothing could ever separate them, not even the crush he has had on her for the longest time and the resulting jealousy whenever a new boyfriend popped up. They
