The blow hit her shoulder sending Iseul falling to the ground, books scattered over the pavement as a doe eyed boy ran past her glancing back past Iseul with a look of fear. No more than a second later another boy came thundering round the bend, followed by 3 others, the look on his face furious as he and his goons trod over her books with their muddied boots, battering them beyond recognition. She was about to protest when a gentle hand on her arm silenced her. She looked over at the wide eyed boy who was helping her up from where she was currently lying on the ground. "Don't draw their attention, it's not worth it." He said as he gathered her books. "Sorry my friend knocked into you, the guys he's running from aren't really on good terms with us." He explained as he finished picking up her books. "I'm Kyungsoo by the way." He said, offering his hand. "Iseul, nice to meet you?" She replied, shaking said hand. Looking at her books he reached into his bag and pulled out a pile of cash, "Here," he said "this should be enough to cover for new books." Iseul was about to reject when he said, "You shouldn't have to show up on your first day with ruined books." He pushed the money into her hand before pulling her up. "See ya around." He said with a wave as he saw a tan boy quickly approaching and sprinted off with him in the direction his friend had gone. Iseul looked at the money in her hand, it was just enough to buy new books to replace the trampled ones she was was now holding. Indecision flickered across her face then with a shrug she turned to face the building which she had just come from. The bell on the door jingled causing one of the sales people to look up and recognise Iseul. "Back so soon?" He asked. "Yeah, some jerks trampled all over my books." She explained heading towards the textbook section. A few minutes later she re-emerged carrying a new stack of books bringing them to the counter for the boy to scan. "Thanks Suho." She said as she paid for the books. "No worries, take care Iseul." He said with a wave. As she turned to leave the bell jingled and a tall scary looking boy with black hair walked in. "Tao! What brings you here?" "Duizhang needs to talk to you." The boy, Tao, stated. "I'll be right there." Suho said, gathering his personal effects. Tao looked at Iseul, who was struggling a bit with the books she was carrying. He strode towards her, "Here let me help." He said taking half her books. "Oh! Thanks." Iseul said surprised. "Don't worry bout it." He said nonchalantly. "I'm Tao, are you new here?" "Iseul," She said balancing the remaining books on one hand and offering the newly freed one "and yes I'm new." "Cool!" He said, shaking her hand. "Transfer or first year?" He asked, holding the door to the bookshop open for her. "Thanks. First year, you?" "Same, are you staying in the dorms?" "Yup, moved in this morning, how about you?" She asked as they headed towards the girls dorms. "Nah, I'm staying at a friends place just off campus." "That must be pretty fun staying with friends." "It is actually, until you get woken up with feet in your face." He said with a face full of distaste, causing Iseul to chuckle. "Are you staying by yourself or rooming?" "By myself, I don't tend to do so well with other people in my personal space." "Fair enough. So what's your major?" "Biochemistry. You?" "Business. Stereotypical Asian subjects ay?" "Definitely," she said with a laugh, "is yours by choice or family decision?" "Family, heir to the throne and all so not much choice there. How about you? Choice or family?" "Choice, my parents don't have much of an opinion in what I do anymore." She said. "Ah sorry, is that a touchy subject?" Tao asked, voice full of sincerity. "Nah I'm pretty much fine with it now." Iseul replied, brushing off any concerns. "So why biochem?" Tao asked, taking the topic off of any depressing matters. "The topic interests me, learning about how the different cells work and all. I'm also taking a few biomed papers as well." She answered. "Oh wow, I feel so dumb now." Tao said with a laugh. "Nonsense, business is a completely different language, one of which I cannot interpret." "Neither can I." Tao said with a grin. "Well at least not yet." "Well this is me." Iseul said as they reached her room. Balancing the books on one hand she unlocked the door and pushed it open. "You can just leave them on the desk over there." "Wow I like what you've done with the place, seems a lot roomier than the other dorms." "Just some light rearranging, tends to do the trick." She said nonchalantly. "Cool," Tao said, pulling out his buzzing phone, "sorry I gotta take this." "Yo wasup?" He said as he raised his phone. His expression turned worried as he said, "Okay, I'll be there soon." "Gotta go?" Iseul asked. "Yeah, I'll see you later?" "Sure." "Bye!" Tao smiled as he stepped out the door, walking to the end of the hallway then sprinting away once he was out of sight. Iseul closed the door after Tao left, making her way to the desk situated in front of the window, the light of the nearing dusk casting a warm glow over her newly bought textbooks. She sat down at the desk, gazing out towards the horizon when she saw a familiar black haired figure sprinting across the field towards the edge of campus before disappearing into the trees surrounding the border of the campus. Must have been pretty urgent. Stifling her yawn, she decided to order pizza before sleeping. She was watching tv when a knock on her door alerted her to her food's arrival. Grabbing her wallet, Iseul skipped to the door before pulling it open, revealing a tall boy with rainbow coloured hair and a bored expression on his face. "You ordered pizza?" He said monotonously. "Yup that's me." She replied with a smile. "That'll be $10." "Sure." Iseul said as she rummaged around her bag, pulling out the smallest note she had. "Here, you can keep the change." The boys eyes widened as he saw the $50 note. "Are you sure?" He asked. "Yup, plus anyways, I don't have anything smaller so think of it like a tip." She said with a smile. "Cool thanks! I'm Sehun." He said, offering his hand. "Iseul, nice to meet you Sehun." "You too." He said with a smile before looking at his watch. "I should probably get going now, got more food to deliver." "Okay, see you 'round." She said with a wave, closing the door as he walked away. The auditorium soon grew crowded as med students of all years flooded the room. Once everyone was settled, the head of the university's medical department walked up to the podium and tapped on the mic, gaining the attention of the students. "Welcome ladies and gentlemen. First years, I hope you haven't had any problems moving into the dorms for those of you who are staying here." He said, as he gazed out towards the first years at the front of the auditorium. "As per usual, we will be pairing first years with fourth for the orientation and second with third. Please note that some of the third years will be paired with first year students as we accepted a few extra this year." The man says, seemingly looking at the area where Iseul was sitting. "Lists will be up on the notice boards outside as well as what time to meet your partner so we don't have everyone trying to find their partners at the same time." He explained. "Best of luck and I hope you enjoy your studies this year. Meetings start at one so make sure you know who your paired with and when to meet them." He said before walking off the stage. Iseul stood from her seat, overhearing some of the girls in her year whispering not so softly about a third year that they'd seen. "Oh my gosh! His dimples are to die for! Too bad none of us will be paired with him." One of the girls whispered. "The guy did say that some of the third years would get paired with us so we might get lucky." Another girl said as the group headed to the notice boards outside. Iseul slowly made her way to the front of the crowd finding her name in the list for the top 10 ranking first years, tracking the shaded line across to the name and time of her partner, seeing that the meeting was in an hour she decided to buy lunch first. Fifteen minutes to the meet, Iseul decided to head back to the auditorium so her partner wouldn't have to wait. She sat on a bench outside the building, soaking in the sun's rays. Within 5 minutes a shadow passed over her, settling on the bench to the right. "Hi, are you Iseul?" "Yup that's me, you're Lay I presume?" "Indeed I am. You're a first year ay?" "Yup." "Okay! Let's get this show on the road then shall we?" Lay asked as he stood up energetically. They spent the afternoon walking around the university, Lay randomly pointing out the various buildings or cool places
