Come on, he’s just a bodyguard, don’t be so nervous, Suzy tells herself  as she opens the door. The guy stands from the table.

“Hello Ms Bae, I'm Kim Myungsoo.” They both bow to each other.

“My new bodyguard. I read your file, but they left out what you will be doing for me.” She actually does know but she both needs to see if he knows and if she remembers it all correctly herself.

“I will occasionally you around Seoul and drive you to your jet and other events when necessary. Above all, I am assigned to keep your spirits up while you go to such events.” He sounds very mature, even though he is only three years older.

“Due to the threats, correct?”
“Yes, how are you feeling about those?” She can see genuine concern in his eyes. You’re doing quite well so far, Myungsoo, she thinks slightly unnerved by how handsome he is. Deep brown eyes, brown hair, and those two dimples on either side of his cheeks when he smiles…stop it, he’s your bodyguard. Nothing else.

“It’s difficult, I mean, someone saying they want you dead could make anyone worried.” She cracks a smile.

“I agree.” He returns it, “Well let’s get going to your apartment. There is a large crowd out there. Would you like to do some fan service or go straight to the van?” She goes to the window to see a large group of her fans with posters, albums, phones, etc.

“I can sign a few things.” He takes out a marker from his jacket pocket and gives it to her, “Thank you.” He nods and puts a pair of sunglasses on.

“When they start pushing and swarming, what is for you, the best way to get through?”

“Why, haven’t the other bodyguards already told you?”

“They have but I think it is best to ask the person that you are escorting yourself.”

“Well then, try not to hurt them when you push them out of the way, no knocking phones or cameras away if you can avoid it…that’s it.”

“What about you personally, how should I get you to the van?"

“Don’t grab my arms, a hand here works with most, including me.” She points at the place near the small of her back. He nods.

“Ready to go?” She nods and they go down the stairs and out of the building,

“Suzy, is that a new bodyguard or boyfriend? He looks young so you’re doing better!” She takes the first phone for a quick picture.

“You moved on awfully fast from Lee Min Ho…” She drowns out the rest and keeps signing and taking pictures.

The crowd does start to push and she stumbles back. Myungsoo steadies her and a hand goes to where she pointed as he pushes other people away. He guides her to the black van and opens the door swiftly. She hates how she likes the pressure on her back, hates how her heart is speeding up ever so slightly, and hates how she misses the pressure when she gets into the van.

He closes the door after her and gets into the driver’s seat. He takes his sunglasses off and looks at her through the rear-view mirror.
“Are you alright?” He had heard some nasty things being said by the paparazzi, even worse than asking if he was her boyfriend.

“Yes.” She meets his eyes that have a calming effect on her. He starts the engine and they drive off.
