You can’t sleep.  You haven’t been able to get a good night’s sleep in……well, you couldn’t remember.  Sitting up in bed, you look over at the dark lump lying next to you.  He’s turned away from you, like he is every night.  Every night is the same, just as every day is the same.  Nothing new or exciting, just haunted memories of what you’ve lost; what you threw away.

Note to self, never let your friends come to karaoke unless they plan on doing Gee.  You fall off the couch, laughing at your friends singing Gee while failing miserably at the choreography.  Not only was their singing off, but so was everything else.  One of your friends stepped on her own foot, while another slapped someone in the face with her ponytail.  Your best friend was front and center singing at the top of her lungs, after totally giving up on the dance moves.   You

You look outside the window, lost in your own thoughts.  The room around you is cold and empty.  You’re wearing a sweatshirt that is way too big and jeans that are too long.  You’re sitting on the window seat leaning against the wall.  You hold the picture tightly to your chest, slightly crushing it. A gentle white light is shiny down on you.  You lay your head against the wall with a little thud.  The same song is playing in the background.  It’s the same one you’ve been listening to
