it's so ugly, but it's cute strolling down public streets, you wouldn't think twice about yali if you passed her, except for maybe her weird, old-fashioned sense of style. it's 2104 girl, get with it! you'd most likely see her in clothing such as big apron-like dresses, thigh-length socks, the infamous 'mom jeans', long skirts, blouses, striped sweaters, and huge comfy coats plus tacky scarves for when it gets cold. she tops the entire look off with some light makeup and wavy styled hair. all these clothing items seem very chaotic and contradicitng, i mean who in their right mind wears thick thigh-high socks in the summertime? also, mom jeans was a long gone and dead trend until yali's genius mind decided to bring that hideous bottomwear back from like, the 2000's probably. her sense of style is ... unique, but somehow she pulls it all off. this is her natural style, has been since her grade school years, it's hard to imagine her wearing anything else.
you've got the best of both worlds yali loves the concept of being a cute, sweet girl by day and a badass, "punk rocked" out, tattooed con-artist by night, though you won't see that side of her unless you're involved in her underground buisnesses. when spending the day at her tattoo parlor or doing work with GHOST, she trades her doll-like appearance for hot red lipstick, tight pigtail buns, leather jackets, ripped jeans, high platformed shoes, and black everywhere, changing her into a completely different person, but this person isn't her. this is xul (pronounced as 'zool' or jewel). she created this persona to: one) make herself feel powerful, intimadating, and cool as hell, two) fit in with the underground body modification scene, and three) go 'undercover', or have an alter ego because who doesn't like to feel like hannah montana sometimes?
i'm a beautiful garden and my tattoos are the flowers- literally yali is more on the tattoo scene (obviously) than with piercings. in all her years she has not gotten any ear peircings, but one nose piercing, one on her belly button, and a septum that she rarely wears and doesn't even know if it's closed by now or not, not that she cares. her tattoos include a cluster of flowers and plants on her left shoulder, another flower on her right wrist, a dragon on her back, and last sentence of the letter her sister gave her before her sudden death in 2100 on her upper thigh, in memory of her. her sister's small quote is the only one out of the four that she has tattooed by herself. you see her arm tattoos most often, but she tends to hide her dragon and quote.

i'm not human, i'm a goddess of nature! yali is a strange little creature dwelling on this earth, claiming have a unique psycological connection to plants and the autotrophic beings of the like. you might think she's bat crazy if you catch her stopping in the middle of the street to talk to some dandelions at some strangers' front yard until she is shooed away. it's not rare that you'll find her zoning out into that outlandish imagination of hers. she's a young and free soul at heart, wanting to wander into every corner of knowledge that the world has to offer. you could say that she's a bit disconnected from society because she doesn't like conforming to it's norms; yali loves what she loves and does what she does without worries. a top-class introvert she is, yali enjoys spending her free time on her own with her plants, sketching new tattoo designs and drawings in her notebook, and taking entire days off to energize herself through naps rather than surrounding herself in the busy bodied city atmosphere of seoul. she gives off a serene and 'cute girl next door' kind of aura that can be charming.

background:
sweet girl, sour life yali was born on may 3rd of the year 2080 into a financially unstable family and dysfunctional parents in a small village area in hong kong, china. she lived in old, slightly unsantiary, two bedroom house. her parents juggled multiple part time jobs in the city area miles away that seemed like an endless working madness. her parents didn't love each other. she didn't attend school until she was 13, going into high school with the education of a 1st grader. she has lived on just rice for several weeks to save money. yali's childhood was quite miserable, but she made the best of it from her only outlet; as chiche as it soulds, art was her escape. she spent her nights alone in her tiny bedroom drawing on the walls, sketching things she saw in a little notebook, and daydreaming of a brighter future. yali was a talented kid. she deserved better, and she knew that. but more importantly she knew her young sister deserved it.
xu sisters = power duo! yinai was born when yali as four years old. they grew up together, and even at such a young age, yali was yinai's only motherly figure, since their parents were too busy 'working' or whatever they clamined to do when they left their daughters at home. the idea of their parents was a big fuzz to them. they often just left a few bowls of cold rice, a small side dish, and a few old (probably found on the streets) toys before leaving for the day. the two sisters had to tough it up together, and for the most part they grew up happy and well with each other by their side, until they were enrolled into school. yali adjusted smoothly, but yinai was much more shy and reluctant to make friends. school kids often for being so quiet and having less trendy clothes. she felt bundensome to tell about her bullying to yali, which would eventually lead her down a mentally unhealthy path.
endings lead to a new start after almost 7 years of constant pressure and insecurities from being in a school enviornment and envy for a better life like the ones all the students seemed to have at her school, yinai couldn't stand it anymore she left a note for yali the morning before she took her young life.

a funeral was held the following weekend respectfully. her parents were shocked yet distant to the topic because no one saw it coming. no one took her death more emotionally than yali did. she hated herslf everyday for months for the fact that she didn't have a clue about what was happening to yinai. it was her most important job to take care of her only sister. yali was 19 years old when this all happened, and after nearly a year of mourning, she decided that she didn't need to take this so negatively. she made it a goal to renew her own life to make up for the one yinai innocently lost. yali began taking initiative, her first plan was to get out of hong kong and start college. this city is old news.
where am i now? after taking up many jobs and struggling through to find money, yali had finally achieved her first goal. she was moved to korea to go to seoul arts university as a visual arts major at the age of 20, leaving her parents with a short note, nothing too sentimental. packed with luggage, worksheets, and lots of thick korean translation books, yali was ready. korea accpeted her well, she felt very free and happy here. college didn't start until the following year, so yali had an entire 12 months to do whatever. she took this time to physically renew herself. she became intrested in tattoos and tattoo art, and decided to get her first patch of flowers. after plenty of research and trips to a tattoo parlor, she genuinely wanted to start one herself, especially by the time she came around to getting a dragon on her back. with support from her good friend jiwon, she opened up a little underground tattoo shop, open only on weekends.
joining a revolution now where does GHOST come in? after about 3 years of being in steady buisness, a GHOST member decides to visit her tattoo location to get a tattoo (obviously), but subjects arise about the secret member's true origins. they talk about the organization, and she is given time to accept or declide an offer to join. she comes with the conclusion that she wants to join the movement against exessive technology use to prove how much of a virius it is to the human brain. it is to prove all those bullies that having fancy cell phones and advanced tech means nothing. it's payback for all those arrogant kids for making fun of lower-class children that don't get the same priviledges. yali knows yinai would want her to do this, so she accpeted GHOST into her life, even if it means danger and death.

han jiwon | 24 | flirty, social, amusing, passionate, blunt| jiwon is the one that got yali into tattoo art, and he is a strong supporter of her buisness. they have a classic older brother - younger sister kind of relationship, often teasing and playing around with each other, but in the end they still love each other. if she were to tell anyone about her affiliation with GHOST, it would be jiwon, she trusts him and thinks he'd take it most lightly.
