→ mirella – it is her birth and american name. used by those of the koh household and occasionally youngjae.

(korean -- verge of fluency) she learned the language from her korean father. the only issues are  some pronounciation and lack of knowledge over a few words and phrases, and this is mostly because she does not practice her korean as much as she should.

Description; commensurate to a carefully hand-crafted porcelain doll, yerim has smooth, light bisque coloured skin that seems to be without blemish. her hair flows down with a slight natural wave a few inches below her s and remains the natural colour of dark brown. yerim was blessed with a set of hazel brown eyes that are sometimes seen as a deep chocolate brown colour or even slighty green, and she has natural double eyelids. standing at a height that is a little above average, she has long legs and her overall body type is willowy and sylphlike.

Style; yerim's overall style can be described as sophisticated and hints of vintage influence with a modern twist. her style is also comparable with the singer, birdy and model, nadia esra. you could probably tell from afar that she's living the high life as the majority of her clothes come from brand names. she's generally a well-dressed kid, one of the reasons being expectations in the high society she's involved in and the other reason being her fashion designer mother. seeing her in actual pants would be a rarity as she usually wears skirts, shorts, or dresses. she finds a fondness for tights and layering as well. a lot of her tops are sweaters and peter pan collared dress shirts, and she has half a closet full of different styles of oxfords, boots, and heels. when it comes to formal wear, she's very elegant and extravagant about it. hell, she wouldn't even mind wearing a wedding dress if she felt like it.

→ the good :

refined and eloquent. to a myriad of people, yerim is the embodiment of class and sophisticated grace. she's quite lady-like. people normally see her as very polite, respectful, and well-mannered, always following the customary greetings in almost the most formal way possible in which from there she can open up. the girl had always felt that it was important not to be seen as crude as it gives a bad impression, and with her knowledge over life and the world of business and high-class living, she knows that a bad impression doesn't normally get you anywhere. seemingly, yerim was born with the gift of eloquence. her fluidness in speech is very natural and articulate, and conversations with the latter are almost without a sense of awkwardness in the air. for her to fumble around with her words would be considered a rarity and a miracle. she's also a very persuasive type of person and exceptional when it comes to negotiation, knowing the appropriate thing to say without it sounding like coercion. her father likes to use her to help cut deals for this reason. additionally, she is conventionally described as a finely cultivated young lady who is very well versed in her actions and speech. 

gregarious, assertive, and charming. yerim is the equivalent to the outgoing social butterfly, considering herself an unquestionable socialite as she barely ever fails to introduce herself to individuals of new encounters. she's a cordial and amiable girl, enthusiastically expressing her acknowledgement to the presence of an individual. this is especially because she is of understanding that the people of her same general background run extremely occupied lifestyles, and these social events sometimes serve as a time to sit back and relax a little bit and have fun. hence, she fancies making a lighthearted and comfortable environment rather than one that is businesslike and austere. her prominence in charm, personality, and sense of adventure helps her out in this case. she has a vast mind that has many great stories to be told. this all makes her immensely popular with the bussinessmen (similar to this) at the social events, and she even has a regular group of these men that she sits with at every event who look forward to her stories and their conversations with her. terms such as timid and pusillanimous are words you could never use to describe a person like yerim. 

refreshing and humourous. instinctively, she has a very authentic and fine sense of humour, knowing just what jokes to crack. she simply just loves to laugh and make people laugh with an invigorating and ebullient mood. she's very dynamic and full of zest. yerim just adds a little bit of appreciated spark in people's lives. to the coterie of bussinessmen that have astoundment over yerim, they see her as the ideal daughter-in-law, constantly trying to get their sons to talk to her in hopes of eventual attraction and marriage.


→ the bad and the ugly equitable : 

blunt, crafty, shrewd, sassy, sagacious, and stubborn. for the most part, yerim isn't afraid to be outspoken and forthright to someone. as painfully honest as she can be, she's usually correct on some terms. likewise, there are times, just rarely, which it just slips out and uses wording that could probably be a lot better, causing wrong interpretation and misunderstanding. similar to her bluntness, her sense of shrewdness can prove to be useful and admirable. however, she unconciously and customarily uses the trait for guile. astute, yerim presents a strong and sharp ability in the judgement of people and situations to accurately assess them, using such things to her own advantage for future reference. this reveals her cunning and deceitful side of mind. undoubtedly, she's an obstinate individual and is a bit difficult to coax or influence when she's already quite set on one belief. she's not so easily swayed and prefers to think for her own self. then at times, yerim's inner sassy "bow-down-to-me-peasants" southern woman comes out and can be as sassy as it gets (even byun baekhyun can't compare lol). there's almost no stopping her at that point. to conclude, these traits are the basis in which why she is great at negotiating, persuasion, and debates. in usual cases, she remains undaunted in any sort of predicament that life "selfishly" throws out at her.  

surreptitious and unrestricted. she  has an inclination to conceal her more negative feelings such as sadness and anger as she is the type to bottle up her feelings, and it would take a substancial force to break her down. alongside emotional secrecy, she has a tendency to being secretive to her parents. 'as long as it isn't lying it should be fine, right?' that's exactly what she thinks. it's just that because there are some aspects in her life which she knows will not be accepted too easily, they must remain clandestine to avoid any unnecessary conflict with the parents she deeply loves and admires. yerim moreover finds a life that is unrestricted is one that she favours and likes the feeling of disengagement to duty. yerim's a maverick in her own little way and will live how she solemnly chooses to live her life, one with fancy and no regrets. she'll live this cycle to the optimum. that includes running away for a little bit, travelling as she pleases, drinking another glass of that wine, maybe having another round of with youngjae for the night, and grabbing seconds at the dinner table.

vehement and fiery. when she has the 'feels', they hit very hard and can be abundantly potent, intense, and resolute. this is especially when her 'negativity bottle' breaks. when it is broken out of immense sadness, her sorrow just intensifies by a landslide. on the other hand, although an extremely rare case, when it is broken out of anger, there's no saying what she can do. she can become very explosive and aggressive, causing unfavourable situations. but her vehement attitude can also manifest fairly positive feelings such as a passionate feeling with love and happiness.

→ mother; riah shinkai ; fourty-five years old ; cathetel -- angel of the garden ; famous fashion designer ; debonair, creative, outgoing, generous, humble  ; four -- just like her husband, she also a very busy person with her job. however, she always means well to her kids, trying her best to fulfill her role as a mother. she also loves using yerim as a practice model for her clothing when she can.

→ "uncle" ; mr. myung (to yerim: uncle myung) ; thirty-five years old ; charmeine -- angel of harmony ; faithful butler ; domestic, resourceful, courteous, knowledgeable, loyal ; five -- for when her parents are out and about on their never ending jobs, loyal uncle myung is there to fulfill the wishes of the koh children. he protects the children, having his own collection of guns and weaponry. he's the heart of the koh residence. yerim has been particularly close to uncle myung due to him being there from the start when she bored and lonely.

Family Background;

→ on the early morn of the twenty-first day of august in the year 1996 in the city of birmingham, alabama, aldo koh and riah shinkai welcomed their lovely daughter, mirella, into this world. around the time that mirella was born, her father was the still the heir to a large architectural firm, and her mother was an aspiring fashion designer. the couple had met a couple years back in the vestavia hills suburbs of birmingham that they lived in for their own leisure and insight, and they slowly fell in love with each other and eventually got married. living in vestavia hills in the large mansion that aldo invisioned with his own mind and created with his own two hands (and the help of construction workers, of course), the family of three lived peacefully with their treasured butler, mr. myung. the early years of mirella's life was all just slow-paced, leisurely, and relaxed. she was able to spend time with her parents as much as she'd like and grow into the finely cultivated young lady she is today, and when she was lonely because her father was busy checking on house and building construction or drawing layouts and her mother was busy with work at the birmingham botanical gardens or designing clothes for her portfolio, she played with mr. myung who she saw as an uncle, resulting in calling him uncle myung.

things may have been sweet and easy at first, but when mirella was five years old on her way to being six, grandfather koh had died, meaning that her father had now succeeded the ceo position for the firm which proved to cause a more hectic life to him, and he was constantly flying off to korea and other parts of the world. simultaneously, her mother's fashion design career lifted off and she was creating clothes for runways and such, and she was continuously flying off to places like new york and paris and milan. both parents became exceedingly busy to the point where spending time with their dearest mirella was a rarity. she didn't mind so much, though. she, at her young age, understood easily that her parent's work was very important and she always took it into consideration. this situation caused mirella to become a whole lot closer to her uncle myung, but she still felt ultimately lonely due to lack of parental presence. on the day of mirella's sixth birthday, both her parents introduced her to a young sixteen year old girl named trisha bae who was going to be her retainer, something like a lady-in-waiting combined with the likes of a nanny. the arrival of trisha made mirella ten times happier than ever, and her sense of lonliness dramatically decreased.

when mirella was nine years old, her parents' work slowed down slightly, allowing them time for their child. they also decided to adopt a boy named wesley kobayashi who aldo and riah encountered in new york. mirella was always welcoming to her new little brother who was younger by seven months and cared for him just as he cared for her, although they occasionally fought and teased each other like any other pair of siblings would do. then at the age eleven, the ultimate decision was made that when mirella was going to enter high school, they would all move to korea because things would become much more convenient for the family. eventually, mirella was twelve and wesley was eleven when they first started going to parties and banquets around the world with their parents. they obviously were living the high life. months before the big move, mirella recognized her korean name as yerim and wesley just went by wes. then, they upped and moved across the pacific ocean, leaving their alabama home as one of their summer homes. it wasn't until the move to korea that she realized that there were weird things going on. her parents seemed a little suspicious and the friends she made were different than others. when she was sixteen years old, she was officially inducted and introduced into the seoul coven. everything finally made sense although she couldn't believe it at first. however, she slowly accepted these facts.
 

〈 the allies & enemies 〉

Friends;

→ kang solbi ; eighteen years old ; verchiel -- angel of affection ; touchy-feely, sweet, benevolent, solicitous, talkative ; the daughter of a famous winemaker, solbi is yerim's classmate and best friend at school. she's always sprouting out love advice and is always encouraging yerim with sincerity. she's lovingly dating jimin.

→ woo jimin ; twenty years old ; urim -- angel of light ; childish, frisky, vivacious, ditzy, warm-hearted  ; they're mutual friends from his girlfriend, solbi. he and yerim aren't particularly close but they get along with each other well enough for when solbi isn't around.

→ wesley kobayashi-koh ; seventeen years old ; the act of being a familiar bonds them with the vampire forever. wesley offered himself to yerim partly for that reason. he loves his older sister dearly and wouldn't mind sacrificing himself for her.

→ jung daehyun ; twenty-one years old ; cafe singer ; yerim wouldn't have wanted to take in another familiar had it not been for the lurking scent of daehyun's blood that just happened to be so delicious to the point where yerim didn't want to let him go.

→ "lady" cornelia bosworth - she was born into a family of nobility a few years toward the end of georgian era england. her family owned a company which produced and sold porcelain dolls, furniture, and clothing.
→ margarette schubert - she was born in new york city in 1904. her russian-american mother was a model and her german-american father was some filthy rich millionaire businessman.

Conduit; trisha bae, at the age of twenty-eight years old, serves as yerim's conduit and her absolute best friend. she has worked as yerim's retainer for twelve years and also works as a counselor at yerim's high school.

Personality;

→ yoo youngjae. to many people, that boy is one ball of charisma that certainly attracts people to him, may it be intentional or not. these people know him as particularly masculine, valiant, and manly and is seen as normally respectful, considerate, and gentleman material as he easily grasps the hearts of a multitude of individuals including female adults and fellow classmates. passing his classes with high marks, youngjae is exceedingly intelligent and a favourite of his instructors. however, he still a very modest and independent type of person. this is all the youngjae that everybody knows and is aware of, but this is only one side of him. genuine, but still only one side to the yoo youngjae. to the ones that know him very well, such as yerim, they know there's more to that gentleman angle. yoo youngjae is and can be one hell of a smartass and can be overconfident in a non-obnoxious sense. he likes to tease yerim, on purpose, with his stupid cheeseball remarks, and there are just times in which he's a little narcissistic and uses snarky expression, but it can get a good laugh. he's a free spirit who knows what he's doing. he doesn't like being bound by the chains of obligation too much. he also proves to be an adventure and urban exploration enthusiast, going around the world to find new relics. and when it comes to yerim, he can get a little bit competitive with her, for example to find the most amusing item in the abandonded area or who can take the most brilliant picture and even when it comes to grades or small "to the end of the block" running races. as a prospective ceo, youngjae is an ambitious and formidable guy who strives to make everyday his best shot. he'd like to become a great ceo like his father. at times like that or when talking about the future, he gets very passionate, and although he does not like to admit it, he can be really adorable and pouts when yerim points it out.

Relationship; secretly dating

How did you meet?; 

→ when they first met, youngjae was fourteen and yerim was still thirteen. yerim's parents both had business in tokyo, so she, wesley, trisha, and uncle myung decided to come along with them for their own merriment. after hearing of all the haikyos (means "ruins" in japanese), her urban explorer heart just couldn't take it, so she took trisha with her to find the seika dormitory which was a burned out building that lied in the middle of tokyo amidst all of the city's urbanization. ignoring the fairly visible "do not enter" sign above them, they slipped into the lot before anyone could catch them. the moment they entered the building, yerim almost couldn't handle her emotions, being completely and utterly joyed by this building. she and trisha decided to meet in about an hour back in the first lower level. there were so many treasures and relics around. she was stricken by the letters scattered on the floor here and there along the way and the composer who had left all of his music laying around and the fully equipped kitchens and the amount of video tapes and the charred rooms with melted devices and all of the little things on the floor that seemed so insignificant but meant a lot to yerim. each room was very individualized. one room had clothes laid out on the bed as if to get ready for the next day. it was as if after the fire, all of the residents evacuated and never returned. while absorbed in all of this history in one of the dorm rooms, she hadn't noticed that she wasn't alone.

"ah, there's a young lady here?" a grown man mumbled in korean, but yerim just ignored it thinking that she was just delusional. that's when a younger male voice called out. "hey, you!"

yerim froze a little before chuckling and turned around to see a korean boy around her age standing next to a suited posh man with a fancy-as-hell mustache. she responded in ample korean, "you? what a way to greet someone. mirella's the name, but refer to me as yerim instead. i'd rather you call me that than 'you'. you're not the police, right?"

the boy looked at her strangely and laughed out boisterously. "do we look like the police to you? no, i'm just like you trying to fulfill my explorer's side with my butler." he nudged his companion before continuing. "so, mirella. who are you here with?"

yerim smirked at him. "fine. call me mirella then. well, mr. i-have-a-butler, i'm here with my retainer. how rude that you haven't told me your name."

"yoo youngjae, the heir of the multinational yj banking firm!" he said proudly but then took a double-take. "wait...retainer? that's sounds a little medieval."

"yes, a retainer. she serves the same company as your butler right there. hell, i am the daughter of the ceo of koh architecture. your father also helps fund us now that i remember it." yerim straightened herself out before beginning to walk herself out. "don't get caught and arrested, yoo youngjae." she taunted as she waved from behind while walking away.

this just made youngjae laugh with amusement as he retaliated, "i'd say the same thing to you, little miss mirella."

she ceased her walking for a moment and turned around. "if fate permits it, perhaps we shall meet again. see you later."

just a few months later and now being fourteen, yerim's family had moved to seoul because her father wanted to "properly and comfotably manage the firm's hq like a ceo should". the thought of going to a high school where she didn't know anyone proved to churn in yerim's stomach, a natural response to any teenager. however, when she came into the school for an initial tour, the very first person she had seen was none other than yoo youngjae.

Past memories w/ them;

→ after they were bonded, it was just a night of them alone in bed under the covers cuddling and kissing passionately. nothing more. nothing less.
→ heian period of japan. he belonged to a family of high aristocracy and splurged his wealth on refined clothing and accessories for his dearest. she never did ask for them, but she was very grateful when he gifted her. in return, she splurged her own wealth for him. 
→ victorian era england. while hosting a garden party, the two are making constant eye contact from across the garden as she hides behind her translucent, lacy hand fan. she goes into her maze of hedges and with a smirk, he follows her in until they both reach the centre where they make their acquaintance. 
→ "roaring twenties" america. they'd often see each other at the large, extravagant parties that her father started throwing for her eighteenth birthday but eventually threw them for the hell of it. at the tender ages of twenty-one, he, a young self-made millionaire, would smoke from his pipe and she'd smoke from her cigarette holder, and they'd chat and have one hell of time making love in her room afterwards.
→ "roaring twenties" america. while visiting his home, she finds it just wonderfully extravagant. he shows her into his room, seeing all of the shelves of clothing around. apparently, every time he goes out to shop and he sees a piece of clothing that reminds him of her, he'd buy it. that's when he starts tossing the clothes to her, demanding for her to try them on and they're both just laughing at each other as she catches each article. then, things get all hot and slow as they edge into passion. [insert love making here].
→ present day. they go stargazing in the bed of youngjae's truck which is padded by a small mattess, blankets, and pillows where they have their first kiss. it was short and sweet, what seemed right for these two.
→ present day. the good ol' "i love you" initiated by youngjae.
→ present day. the first time they had done the deed was on yerim's seventeenth birthday.
→ present day. without any sort of notification, the two run off on a road trip in yerim's blue volkswagen type two (car , say yoooo cx dear lord please forgive me) to tongyeong together for a week, and when they come back, they both experience the wrath of worried parents.

Does your character party?;  like business parties and formal banquets? all the time. if it's one of those parties that those fellow youngsters throw, she'll go sometimes if she's in the mood. partying is an occasional thing for her. when she goes, she likes to watch all the drunk and high people to get a good laugh out of them. she makes herself the sober one, taking care of everyone when they all get knocked out.

Does your character curse?;  she curses only very mildly, using the word 'hell' exclusively. it'd be a little bit out of her personality to endlessly throw curse words around here and there.

Scene Suggests?; 

→ "youngjae, my boredom savior" -- while attending a formal party with her parents, jay, uncle myung, and trisha, she is expected to have namjoon as her date. beginning to get bored of namjoon, she strays off until she finds youngjae and is able to rest easily. he then takes her hand to dance with her, very visibly in front of namjoon and all of her family (ohoho). the two are just having a great time, dancing, and talking, and laughing. fellow attenders, see them on the dance floor, commenting on what a handsome couple they make.

→ "i'm in complete and utter love with your daughter, and i know i'm her bond mate." -- after more than two years of dating, youngjae doesn't want to hide anymore. he can't help but feel guilty about it. he goes to yerim's house to talk to her parents and after edging on, he finally comes out and says it all.

→ "damn them all!" -- (this is a little cruel to yerim, but sorry not sorry lol.) a silver blood kills one of the most important people to yerim; her younger brother, wesley. this causes her to go haywire and ultimately results the death of the silver blood who killed wesley.
