ELABORATION —
" seek out patience and hard work, and you will soar. " ) — yeseul is well-known for her undaunting patience in general. after all, she is the mother of a six-year-old, and raising children requires a sense of forbearance. if anything, she believes that this is the most important trait that a person could have as people can be deciphered based on their basis of being patient when they are in a state of having nothing and their attitude when they are in a state of having everything. i mean, there's no reason to confine yourself to a rushed, stressful, and angry lifestyle. yeseul also believes that the foundation of a successful life ( may it be in concern to the family or the workplace ) is added hard work, which her aunt regards her as one of the most hardworking people whom she has had the pleasure of running into. her work is usually very diligent and it is visibly captured when she works at her aunt's flower shop and does the chores and cooking at home. above all, raising a child while trying to get your life together to bring yourself into permanent independence is not easy. as maya angelou once said, "seek patience and passion in equal amounts. patience will not build the temple. passion will destory its walls."
" all beings alike have their sufferings. " ) — often, people who know yeseul only by aquaintance will say that her personality is well-matched with her appearance. she invariable smiles that beautifully bright smile of hers while bringing along a vivacious air and is seemingly very polite, good-natured, and amiable, making it almost effortless for people to find a liking towards her. as a person, she is empathetic, being quite relatable to others, and compassionate, radiating an aura of welcoming and warmth at almost all times. it is something that she has truly gained through raising her daughter. normally, she also has difficult time leaving others alone who are in a time of hardship and she has this inclination to help or at least advise them because, while it is not so negative a trait, she can be a little worrisome of a person. nonetheless, people will find that she's very easy to talk to as she is quite broad-minded and open to any topic, and she never really judges others for their musings and actions. also not necessarily a bad thing, she tends to follow principles of being hedonistic, probably due to her rich background. while it is a trait that can be linked to negative connotation, yeseul doesn't find anything wrong in treating yourself to luxuries when you can and having a great time while living this life.
" most of my conflicts are against myself. " ) — she always appears to be in such confident air, and she is indeed the embodiment of an assertive woman; however, that confidence can be easily worn out when she is put in certain situations including ones with heavily packed criticism. it is not a side that is often seen out of her, but yeseul has a huge habit of being overly critical in regards to herself and tends to listen to the opinions and negative criticism of others more than she probably should. this is a result of caring too much as it has been an issue that she has been dealing with for much of her life, having always strived to be someone that her parents have been proud of but feeling as though she has failed. she strongly desires to improve herself and develop her character as much as possible, but it sometimes ends in her straying from her usual patience and becoming frustrated in herself. she simply tends to reflect on events pertaining to herself and reverts to overthinking. from this, comes her feelings of insecurity. additionally, due to her background, she has a slight tendency of being cynical towards others, though not a very dominant trait, especially when it comes to adding jisoo to the mixture. yeseul has suffered from the rude words of many, and she'd never want to involve little jisoo with any of that.

BACKGROUND + CURRENT EVENTS —
• according to legend by her mother, the exact moment that moon yeseul was born, at 7:32am on the thirteenth day of july in the year '92, it rained in sunny st. petersburg, fl for the first time in ages. for the city of sun to experience such sudden heavy rain, it baffled many weatherologists in the city. coincidentally, the day that yeseul was born was also the day that marked the third year of her parents' marriage. because of this, much of the culturally supersitious members of the moon-cha family believed yeseul to be a harbinger of good fortune and an omen of luck towards the family as a whole. as it came to be, the omen of excellent fortune and luck did indeed come true. it was granted belatedly by some years, but nonetheless it still very much came true; however, all of the luck seemed to go the yeseul herself rather than the entire moon-cha family compound as expected.
• for much of her childhood, moon yeseul only had the slightest idea of how the average family worked. after all, her father was a successful brain surgeon, confined to sterile white rooms all day and all night long whenever he got called down to perform surgery. on the other hand, her mother was the professor of biology at the university of south florida in st. petersburg, where papers containing information over meiosis and mitosis and the process of things such as saltatory conduction flooded not only her lecture hall, office, and emails but also her head. even if her parents, particularly more so in reference to her father than to her mother ( though he tries justifying it by stating that he's saving lives which proves to be more important than taking care of young children ), weren't so embedded into their work, their involvement in their daughter would most probably still be of the same calliber, though her mother did place a significant amount of involvement in yeseul's life. but otherwise, she would typically be sitting in their large, beautiful mansion, granted by the hard work of her parents, alone.
• her mother knew otherwise, but her father truly believed that the void in children, that was the result of a lack of affection, could be filled with things bought with money - like trips to european and asian and african nations. it didn't hurt the bank, so her father didn't mind very much. actually, he didn't really care. and so, foreign travel was something that wasn't very surprising to yeseul. but this particular factor is what primarily sparked yeseul's substantial interest in the field of culinary arts as you could imagine that with all of the different cities and countries that she has been sent off to, she'd visit many restaurants. in these places, she learned to almost memorize or embed into and mind the tastes that came from each culture, and if possible, see the types of techniques used. she simply found food to be so fascinating. it spoke deeply to her in ways that people wouldn't have thought of. she took the liberty of learning how to cook on her own, and while the career choice wasn't something that her parents had in mind, she was called a prodigy and was sent off to france over her summers to take part in culinary school courses. but while she was a superior chef, she wasn't sure if she actually wanted to open up a resturant of her own when she grew older.
• yeseul didn't really have many friends growing up. it wasn't because she hated the idea of making new friends nor did she lack the confidence. it was just because no one seemed interesting enough or they only wanted to be her friend because her family was rich. but even so, her father constantly nagged at her to become open to relationships because "you cannot survive the world unless you have connections". not really something that a regular parent would incessantly remind their child, but there was always this boy, simon nessman, who liked being around her just because yeseul was yeseul. they had been the best of friends since primary school, and well, that eventually led to a romantic relationship starting in their freshman year of high school. yeseul's parents liked him enough, so they didn't necessarily mind their relationship to an extent. most truly believed them to be the two-percent of high school relationships that would survive successfully. after all, there really wasn't any other couple at their high school who shared a sweet bond of their calliber. but one day, during the winter vacation of their junior year, their relationship was taken up a notch, and yeseul ended up being pregnant with simon's child.
• teenage pregnancy is never something that is not difficult. i thought we were careful. did the break? how will others perceive me? will simon leave me? what will my parents do? what will they think? i've disappointed them. these were thoughts that plagued yeseul's mind upon finding out about her conception. why shouldn't she be scared? she was going to have to bring a child into this world and hold that child's future in her own hands when she herself was only a high schooler. fortunately, simon made the decision of not abandoning either her or their child when she revealed the news. unfortunately, when the rest of the student population found out, they were less than accepting, harrassing her with rude names and talking behind her back. to add to the load, her parents ( moreso her father ) were enraged. for days her father had screamed at her. he screamed at her for having . for being pregnant at a young age. for ruining her future in such a way. he said that he planned on disowning her and kicking her out of the house to live on the street. it was a good thing that simon had steered clear of her for the moment otherwise he may as well end up six feet under in a grave.
• but that is exactly what happened.
• one morning, on the way to school, simon got into a car accident, thus prematurely ending his life, leaving yeseul in a state of mental trauma and devastation. and with virtually no mode of support from anyone, yeseul was lost and filled with thoughts. so she turned to youtube to empty her mind by sharing her story and didn't think much of it. cue in the omen of good fortune: her aunt, cha mirae, who lived in korea wanted desparately to take her niece in. hearing the news from her older sister and finding out how they were planning on dealing with the surprise pregnancy, she couldn't just sit back and let her niece live on the streets like that. like you've got to be kidding. mirae even personally came to florida so that she could see to it that she could take yeseul. auntie mirae was like a miracle. and so she took yeseul to live with her. ( but not before making her brother-in-law write out a check for an equivalent of 400 million korean won, though lol. it's not like it'd hurt mr. brain surgeon anyway. )
• yeseul's first couple months in korea were getting increasingly difficult due to her pregnancy, but the support from her aunt was greatly needed and appreciated. she didn't go back to school and lived on the funds that her father decided to send every two months for the next two years, so she felt bored and guilty due to the lack of activity that she was accomplishing. but even so, things were going fairly well, and she quite enjoyed pinancheo and its close-knitness as a small town. she'd often help auntie mirae at her flower shop and she'd do the chores and cook at the house. it was picture perfect. one day, while checking her emails at a near by internet cafe ( which happened to be sgt. pepper's ), she received a notification from youtube- rather, several thousand notifications and found out about the popularity that the videos she uploaded a couple months back was gaining.
• as a result, she regularly began to update the internet about her life, even changed it up sometimes by uploading cooking videos, lookbook videos, make up tutorials, and hair tutorials. thus, the very start of her career as a youtuber. it helped her gain back a lot of the confidence that she lost back in america, and by the time she gave birth to jisoo, she finally found her reason to be ecstatic and excited to be a parent. it has already been six years following those days, and she still remembers all of the firsts that she captured on her camera of jisoo and she particularly remembers the first pay check that she received from posting videos on the internet. while her life is somewhat together currently, she's still living with her aunt but would like to gain more independence by moving out sometime in the future this year to next year.

RELATIONSHIPS —
• father - moon joohyuk (51) - brain surgeon - joohyuk, for as long as anyone can remember, has incessantly been a rather serious and strict person. he believes that for a person's life to be ideal, they must gain success through their work. work now and work later is joohyuk's personal motto. his demeanor is simply cold, yet when it comes to his family of wife and daughter he has been known to have shown at least some sides of softness and warmth that his colleagues could only dream of getting to see. - they never were very close to each other on terms of emotion despite having always been in close proximity to each other. yeseul believes it is because her father is just troubled when it comes to basic human emotions in general and is unwilling to open up to anyone. but what joohyuk did provide her with was solid, hard, cold advice that has merged much of yeseul's life and ideals. after all, he believes that he is solely there to guide his child, that he is not his child's friend. following the reveal of yeseul's pregnancy, it was obvious that he was shocked into anger. since her move to korea, yeseul hasn't talked to her father at all though she truly wishes that she could.
• mother - cha saera (50) - usfsp professor of biology - in comparison to her husband, saera is somewhat similar in the way that she can be strict when it comes to work; however, her range of emotion much is broader by a landslide, and work is not her only concern since there is also the vast importance of family life to think about. that is where her need for success is highly concentrated. it makes her far more human than that android of a husband of hers. generally speaking , she is a graceful and kind woman but shows some trend of being slightly submissive. - of her parents, yeseul would be closer, visibly and seemingly so, to her mother. growing up, her mother has been her primary source of nourishment, whether it'd be in terms of food, love, or education. for most of yeseul's life, she shared a relationship with her mother that could be compared to a loosely knit sweater, connected just enough to be worn nicely but not tightly wound. there really wasn't any doubt that there was love present between the two of them. upon finding out about yeseul's pregnancy, saera was initially shocked, but she felt more disappointed than angry and actually felt guilty. ( unbeknownst to yeseul, saera did not want her daughter to be kicked out like that, but she felt that she was too weak to stand up to her husband and therefore could not say anything at the time. saera was also once pregnant at age sixteen, but it resulted in a miscarriage. /how about like a later bonding moment over that? )
• aunt - cha mirae (45) - florist - auntie mirae is an equable woman who embraces the beauty of being wild and free, showing off a trend of eccentricity and immense vibrance. in comparison to her sister, mirae is definitely the livelier and looser one. she is more liberal in terms of personality and ideals and is easily deemed as someone who is venturesome and robust, remaining unafraid to get down in the dumps and get her hands dirty. no running away from problems, y'all. she relates very well to other folks, and you can count on her to make you feel better about yourself, even dropping a bomb of completely inappropriate humour. - frankly, auntie mirae has felt more like a mother towards yeseul than saera has, and honestly, yeseul doesn't want to think like that but simply cannot help it. the bond between the two of them is simply deep and almost inseparable despite really only knowing each other for the few years that yeseul has been living in auntie mirae's house...but then again, many things can happen in the span of a few years, especially when you've practically been raising a child together. if the relationship between saera and yeseul is described by a loosely knitted sweater, the relationship between aunt and niece is like a tightly woven cotton t-shirt. mirae has been nothing but super supportive of her niece throughout everything for the past six years. when she found out about her brother-in-law trying to disown his daughter because of her pregnancy, mirae couldn't help but feel upset. after all, how can you disown someone for carrying your grandchild? ( especially if that someone is a really good cook. gosh, you've really lost yourself at that point. )
• daughter - jisoo nessman-moon (6) - first grader - theoretically, if life was the equivalent to a dark room, jisoo would be a little ball of hot hydrogen and helium with the magnitude of v4998 sagittarii. in other words, jisoo is simply a bright kid with great potential to be an extraordinary person. she enjoys the company of others, especially, for some reason that yeseul does not know, older folks. it might be because jisoo finds comfort and a sense of security in them. for her age, she is remarkably intelligent, and more or less, jisoo has always been quite unselfish, perpetually being generous and sharing her toys and food with others, which strikes yeseul as quite extraordinary for a child. she's not very shy, and she is regarded as friendly and accepting, but she's not a social butterfly either; jisoo is pretty much an ambivert. but above all, jisoo is strikingly empathetic and caring and very loving. - yeseul constantly, to the best of her ability, tries to be a good mother to jisoo. they're practically attached at the hip, though it'd most probably be yeseul having the attachment issues if they were apart from each other instead of the growing-to-be-independent jisoo. yeseul is always considering her daughter and the sake of her benefits, always there as a closely involved parent, and sharing an open and honest relationship with jisoo, guiding her and teaching her about life and the world to make sure that jisoo knows that she will always be there beside her as her best friend no matter what. there is no doubt that they love each other very much. frankly, jisoo makes an appearance in yeseul's youtube videos and instagram photos quite frequently, so you could say that she's been internet famous even since before the age of three.
• former s.o. - simon nessman (17 / 23) - former student - prior to his unfortunate death, simon was well known for being charming and spontaneously fun and outgoing, doing all types of happy-go-lucky things. he was a true people person. he was also quite notorious for his impulsive demeanor; however, despite this and through his standing as a person, he always took responsibility and tried his best to be someone whom others could rely on and who would bring good into the world. - their first meeting was in primary school, and for some reason, they just clicked. for a long time, they were what the kids nowadays call "goals". they were always there for each other, providing close-knit friendship and care and effortless comfort. he was someone who truly gave yeseul a feeling of security and belonging, and a moment with simon was never dim. when simon found out about yeseul's pregnancy, he knew that he would never abandon her or their child. he was ready to make everything up. but the day that he died was very sudden extremely grim. yeseul never liked thinking about his death considering how much she loved him.
