[All About You]

Family:
Mother:
Name: Seo Jirin
Age: 46
Occupation: --
Notes: Deceased. Passed away after giving birth to Haejin.
Father:
Name: Seo Jongjin
Age: 49
Occupation: --
Notes: Deceased. He blamed Haejin for the death of his beloved wife. Passed away when Haejin was fourteen.
Siblings:
Name: Seo Chaejin
Age: 23
Occupation: Psychologist (Oh, the irony.)
Notes: Haejin's older brother. Blamed Haejin for the death of his mother as well.
History: Haejin's life story is quite a series of unfortunate events. Her mother died giving birth to her. Her father and older brother despised her for this. Because she lived in a small community on the outskirts of Busan, her neighbors regarded her as a bad omen and avoided her and spread outrageous rumors. At home, her father and brother always pushed her around and bullied her, sometimes to the point of violence. Her father was more violent than her brother, but her brother was cold and always treated her like an insect he would like to step on. At one point, her father had become so enraged that he picked up a kitchen knife and slashed the young Haejin's face from temple to jawbone. She was around three at the time. Despite the obvious signs of her physical and emotional abuse, nobody offered to help her.

The situation became worse when she started school. The children her age took after their parents, scorning her, spreading rumors, and essentially treating her like she was sub-human. It didn't help that she had a massive, ugly scar down her face; it just served as another weakness for the others to attack. It was around her second year in middle school when she started hearing the voices. They were sinister and evil, whispering heinous things to her subconcious. When the voices started, Haejin's behavior became more erratic and unstable, not that she was very stable to begin with. She became prone to mad fits of violence and psycho-laughter (I don't know how else to put it). This only frightened the others more; more rumors spread and the social torture became worse. The voices said things like, "They hate you. Why don't you eliminate them?" and "Your so-called 'family' treat you like an animal. They deserve to die." Eventually it got so bad that she had to drop out of school.

Then she finally snapped. The voices had convinced her that she had to kill her family. She snuck into her father's room at night. She tied her father to the bedposts and choked him to death, and smothered his cries with a pillow so as not to wake her brother. She tried to do the same to him, but the knots binding him to the bed came loose and he overpowered her, knocking her unconcious. He called the police; when they arrived, they found the body of Haejin's father. They labeled Haejin as a 'dangerous individual' and shipped her away to a mental institution in Seoul with her brother's consent (as he was already eighteen). She's been transferred from institute to institute for five years.

Languages: Korean, but the voices sometimes argue with each other in rapid-fire Mandarin. It just drives her more crazy because she can't understand them.
Personality: Haejin had always been weak. Her traumatic past has made her an empty shell of a human being. She's quiet and nervous (quite like a skittish horse). She's lost all trust in people. She's anti-social, to say the least. She easily gives into insistent demands and is easily influenced by the voices. Her sense of self-esteem has been all but destroyed throughout her painful childhood. When she's under influence of the voices, she is dead to the world and only heeds the voices' demands. When not under their control, she is blank and empty, like an abandoned doll. She is listless and unattentive and doesn't raise a finger to help herself or others. It's not that she's selfish, but she just can't find a reason to do anything.
Likes:

  • Silence
  • Birds
  • Soft/piano music
  • Flowers
  • Sunny days

Dislikes:

  • The voices
  • The color white; it's the only color she's seen in the past five years.
  • People in general
  • Memories of her past; they're too painful for her to contemplate.
  • Sudden, loud noises

Hobbies:

  • Reading
  • Staring out of the window in her hospital room

Talents:

  • Frightening people (even if it's unintentional)
  • Hiding her emotions

The Psychosis

Affliction: Schizophrenia
Specified Affliction: Delusions of internal forces (the voices)
Past with affliction: See 'History'. (I wasn't sure where to put this part, so I'll just put it here.) Haejin is often wracked with mad fits of violence, crazy laughter, and the occasional hallucination of a past memory. When she's especially agitated, she voices out her replies to the voices instead of mentally replying, so it looks like she's talking with herself. The voices are cruel and sinister. They often deride her, call her names, etc. They've ruined her self-confidence; a phrase that often comes out of is "I'm sorry!" She doesn't want to heed the voices' bidding, but they force her to. There's more than one voice; two female and three male. They often argue with each other, which drives Haejin partially mad.
Admission: See 'History'.
Treatment: None. Nobody believed her about the voices before admission to the hospital, and even in the hospital they just keep her locked up.

Miscellaneous

Tattoos, Scars, or Birthmarks: A long, twisted scar that runs from her left temple her jaw.
Worst fear[s]: Being under complete control of the voices.
Request for character: Jaejoong from DBSK/JYJ. He's the nurse assigned to Haejin and frequently checks up on her, but their relationship is nothing more than intense pity on his side and absolutely no emotion on hers.

[Please acknowledge that by giving me your character, you allow me full creative ability. Not all will have a happy ending, and by submitting this character, you are acknowledging that all choices in plot are clearly to my discretion.]

No problem. I didn't get the feeling that this was a very happy fic.

Here's Haejin!~ I hope you like her ^^

Yeah. I went all-out on the angst here. If anything doesn't make sense, it's probably because I play out the scenes in my mind before typing them out, so my words may seem a bit jumbled.

I'm so anticipating the story :D You come up with the best ideas ^^ Hwaiting!~

I've got it all!
And thank you so much, my ever dedicated applier. I'm glad you've found it within your benevolent soul to stick with me.
All out on the angst is kind of what I'm going for here. It certainly won't be for the lighthearted.
This might sound strange, but THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR GIVING ME A PHYSICAL SCAR TO WORK WITH. Everyone else doesn't want to make their character unattractive, which I understand... But if these are violent psychotic people, they're bound to get scraped up here and there, right?
